The Rules of The Ring

The Rules Of The Ring:

1) Unmarked or poorly marked spoilers get you a warning. For convenience, all spoiler threads should have: ***SPOILER*** at the beginning of their title. This includes the major Japanese events, so if you're posting the results of then, mark the thread as indicated above. For clarification, because some people lack the nous to work this out for themselves, this means that anything concerning the Raw that airs on a Monday is to be considered a spoiler until late Friday, because that is when it airs in the UK, also around the same time for Australian viewers. For anything concerning Smackdown, anything concerning it is to be considered a spoiler until late Saturday, because that is when it airs in the UK and Australia. For convenience, keep SD talk to the SD Spoiler thread that usually pops up late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

2) No "WARNING SPOILERS BELOW" schtick in your replies. If a thread isn't marked with a spoiler warning, don't post spoilers. Take it to an appropriate thread.

3) No Kandiman-esque gimmick posting.

4) No trolling. This means making a post about something just to get a rise out of people, and it also means going into certain threads and trying to stir shit. An example of this would be the Tommy Dreamer thread back on EWB. For example, if a wrestler retires/dies/is injured, don't go into the thread that talks about that, and start attacking the wrestler or the promotion's he worked for. Leave that for other, more suitable threads. Also, if you're making a statement that you know full well could rile people up, at least try and make an effort to back your statement up in some reasonable way (meaning don't be a dick to someone who asks a question or makes a statement.) And no, just saying "It's my opinion" doesn't count. However, "It's my opinion, because...." and then making a credible argument, does count.

5) Check the front page before posting news, to make sure it hasn't already been posted. Few things are more annoying than having to waste time closing and moving threads that were only posted because someone was too lazy to check the front page.

6) Invariably, topics will appear numerous times, such as the Montreal Screwjob or JBL's Salute. New members should keep in mind that we have discussed these issues many times, and may not be up to doing it again. With that being said, existing members should keep in mind that if the topic arises, it may be best to just let it go. The staff are rational people, and will be able to decipher when a topic has been drilled into the ground.

7) Try and run your posts through a spell checking program of some kind before posting. It can be very annoying coming across a post, and having to spend time decoding what it says. Bad spelling also makes you look, to be blunt, stupid, and takes away from whatever credibility your post might have.

8) If you post a question for the purposes of a diary, you will get warned, and your topic closed. There is a forum for diary questions; use that to ask your question.

9) Postwhoring. This is a big one. Apparently it's not clear to some that "OMG (insert name) IS HERE~!!!!!" without any kind of content otherwise in the live events is, in fact, postwhoring. So is saying the same thing ten people said before you in the same thread. I've read it once, I don't need to read it ten more times. Add your own opinions to the agreed upon material or don't post about it, because that's postwhoring as well. Warnings will be handed out for this.

10) If you're wanting to share the latest Diva Playboy pictures, please post a link rather than PM'ing everyone who asks. PM'ing could create problems with the database and ultimately results in postwhoring. If you're in a sharing mood, just post the link, so long as what you're posting is tasteful (ie: Playboy)

11) We have a thread pinned at the top of the page for asking questions about, making suggestions for and reviewing Tapes and DVDs. Use it.

More to come.
