"Nano-Hunk" by G W Thomas

"The first wave of nanomachines rearranged McElroy’s metabolism. He could live on cheeseburgers and never gain a pound. No more love handles.

Then they revived the hair follicles on his head, while killing those on his back and shoulders. No more bald spot, no more body hair.

Lastly, they gave him the body of an Atlas and the face of Hollywood’s latest hunk.

Six months later, McElroy put a gun to his perfect temple and blew his brains out all over the back of his sofa. His suicide note said, simply, “You couldn’t fix the broken parts.”

Woah, that is... really good.

That's quite good. Would work well as a more fleshed out science fiction short story...what is that? Where is it taken from?

He writes flash fiction or micro fiction, it's from a book of his, but I saw it in a friends university books for the classes I want to take next year.

I like that quite a bit.....I'd be interested as to where it came from as well.

I really like it, if it was longer and more scientific, it's the sort of thing I'd expect to find in a book of Asimov short stories.

http://www.gwthomas.org/gwindex.htm

Here's his site. It's not very organized, but he writes a variety it seems.

This site talks about his style and gives more examples.

At least I'm not the only one thinking that. It just cries 'Oh noes~ I'm emo and trying to be poetic'.

It shows that a story with less than a hundred words can have a plot. There's nothing emo about it.

I call that 'the blurb', it's on the back of pretty much any book in your bookstores.

For his 9th birthday Johnny was given a dog by his parents. One day shortly after, the dog dissapeared. So Johnny made it his mission to look everywhere for his lost dog. He went around the streets screaming "Dog...Dog!!". You see, in Johnny's youthful haste and excitement, he forgot to name the dog! Johnny searched for days and nights, without sleep, food or water. The late nights and spontaneous rapings were having their toll on Johnny, who eventually collapsed and died.

So let this be a lesson to all of you. If you don't name your dog, it will run away and you will die a horrible death. Or maybe nothing will happen. But you never know.

Oh yeah...why does the name sound like homo-erotic fiction? I think we all know what AppSham reads.

The blurb's a synopsis, this is a story. It's micro-fiction, it's making a point.
