[EWR] August 1996 - MASTERS Scenario (v2.0 DL)

Recommended Posts

"AND HARD TIMES! ARE WHEN A MAN, HAS WORKED AT A JOB, THIRTY YEARS! THIRTY YEARS! THEY GIVE 'EM A WATCH, KICK 'EM IN THE BUTT, AND SAY..."HEY! A COMPUTER TOOK YOUR PLACE, DADDY!" THAT'S HARD TIMES!... THAT'S HARD TIMES!..."

It's been hard times with these historical updates...let's create an American Dream of historical data...
Okay, so making scenarios for TEW is a shit ton of work, while making scenarios for EWR is fuckin' easy. The historical updates avaliable for the game are complete shit, where the stats are fucked up with no understanding of how they work, every age is pretty much off-line, finishers are wrong, names aren't correct, rosters aren't complete. The historical updates we've been forced to work with for years are just shit, honestly. That's why there needs to be an effort made to come up with some serious historical stat updates. So I'm taking the initiative, and need your help!

We'll start with perhaps the most important turning point in modern professional wrestling history, the formation of the New World Order...

June 7th, 1996 marked the beginning of the Monday Night Wars. Bash at the Beach 1996 would change the game forever, as Hulk Hogan would come down to the ring, supposedly to save Team WCW from the mischievous and destructive "Outsiders", only to leg drop a destroyed Randy Savage multiple times, turning his back on the promotion, the fans, and millions watching at home, instantly creating the hottest sensation professional wrestling has ever seen, perhaps only second to Hulkamania itself.

And what a perfect time to place a stat update? Fuck starting things on January 1st, and calling it a yearly stat-update. Yeah, it's yearly, but it's fucking at such a random point of time. Scenarios are meant and should be placed at pivitol points in wrestling history, where a user would want to begin history and do things his/her own way. This scenario will give you the opportunity to take over the nWo right from the beginning. Just Hogan, Nash, and Hall. No Bischoff yet, no Giant, no "Crow" Sting, no injured Flair. Just a clean slate for your mind to put its imagination to work.

So what do ya say? You want in?

Good! I'm glad! The more people helping this project, the more complete, perfected, consistent, and satisfactory it will be!

Stiffness: This is how stiff (i.e. how hard their blows are) they are in the ring. If it is too high, you run the risk of hurting someone. Too low, and the crowd will see if is fake. A very stiff wrestler would be someone like Bradshaw.

Technically, this is what the EWR Guide says about 'Stiffness'.

Kaos and Rage were a tag team I believe at this point, and both were faces. I think their name was high voltage. I also think Pittman was a heel and Prince Iaukea was a face. Arn was a heel as well (even though at the time nwo came about the heel were more tweeners).

The Women's title came about at the end of 1996, but if included, I would add Akira Hokuto in the game (she was the first champion).

This link may also help a bit too- http://www.ddtdigest.com/updates/1996065m.htm

Well I've made serious progress on this project...but still have aways to go...

As for WCW, I think I'm nearly complete with it. I've got all the wrestlers that were with the company at this time, and at this point, need to go through each wrestler and compare stats with one another so that the right people are better than others are brawling, speed, ect. Moving on to the staff I have a realistic roster of staff members, but still need a decent sized list of real road agents who were with the company at this time.

Next I moved on to ECW, and are pretty sure I've got a realistic roster for August 1996 as well. The only person I know I'm missing, but seriously cannot find any information about, is The Dirtbike Kid. If you have any real information available on him, I will gladly throw him into the mix. Below is the roster...

- Take a look at face/heel disposition and gimmicks for each wrestler. What seems wrong?

- Those in developmental deal at this point were training in ECW House of Hardcore, and most of them would debut in real life a short time after August 1996.

- Did the same thing for staff as I did with WCW. Researched and tried to make as realistic as possible.

Also relating to staff, I've come up with a system of staff members for each position, with a tier order of talent, instead of just random names with random talent abilities. I've gone down with two of each from 100, 96, 92, 88, 85, 82, ect. They are all in order alphabetically, and have implemented this system with the Production staff members (with different sets of workers such as "Camera Crews", "TV Producers" ect., used the system on Medics, and will be doing so for Writers, most likely Road Agents (along with real ones), and Trainers (along with real ones).

As for TV Networks, they are pretty much complete. I've done research on what was around, and appropriately created what was existing and would have been probable (even with the slimest chance) of hosting a wrestling show. All the max ratings are set, and I've dropped the idea of "Local Network" with the generic setting checked, and instead created four seperate, each corresponding with the big networks, hence there are four generic networks called "Local NBC Affiliate", "Local ABC Affiliate", ect. Also, I want to make it impossible on these networks to have a show on Early Evening, because at this time the local news would be running, and there is no way some small wrestling company would take over the timeslot 8-6. So for each local affiliate network, I've put the TV Rating possibility to 0.00 and Risk at 0%. Speaking of risk, I've appropriated for each network the appropriate risk level for each time slot corresponding with the risk levels in the game that set the bar for what types of matches you can hold. So instead of random risk levels, it all makes sense.

Sponsors are nearly complete. I think I went from like 40 sponsors to 193 so far. Everything you can think of, while I'm still trying to think of more. And the morality system I've created maybe a little different, but it works for sure. Let's say you're risk level is at 66%, which is what WCW and WWF will be because that is the highest risk level neccessary to perform matches such as War Games and TLC, but is the level under 71% which just lets you do High Incident matches, which these promotions wouldn't do. So these promotions would be able to get sponsors with a morality of 33% or lower, because the formula for deciding what sponsors are interested in you is RISK % + SPONSOR MORALITY < 100. So at 66% + 33% from the sponsor, is 99%, which is a sponsor which is interested in you. But with a company like ECW, they wouldn't be able to get 33% sponsors, and no company can get Disney, the highest paying sponsor, with a morality in the very high 90%'s.

So yeah throw your comments out. I'm working on WWF at this moment, then when that's done, I'll be searching for smaller promotions around during this time and will try to compile accurate rosters, so it's not just those three promotions in the game.

ECW's wages are way too high. "Third company" or not, they were still just an indy that weren't paying that much. I'd cut most of those wages in half, if not more (except for non-regulars, like Dr. Death Steve Williams, etc.). For example, I'd probably put Raven at the 34-40,000 mark, Dreamer in the 24-28,000 mark. Think more of ROH's wages in today's updates for what I feel ECW should be at.

As far as WCW Road Agents, I think Mike Graham was there at the time along with Terry Taylor. Jason Hervey was in the production side as well. If you want to lis the WCW staff members so we know who you have and don't have it would be of help.

I agree on the contract salaries for ECW, so I lowered them severly, and figure that pay scales for promotions that may be regional or small wont have much discrepancy between cards and pay, which will only be for global promotions who would swone popular independent workers with the exposure and money they can offer. I also forgot to write down a few wrestlers for the promotion, like Jericho and D-Von Dudley...

back original large event annoucers for federations

What do you mean?

EDIT: Re-installed EWR then re-pasted DATA, still get the same error.

Tried re-installing the original promo.dat from the database I began with, and still get the same error, so it must be something to do with the workers? Staff? Announcers?
