Let's Build Picture Packs

The topic title is pretty self-explanatory, I have had this idea for a while now and with Photobucket being a total arse every time they change their system I have got to the point to stop bothering to sort my pictures on there and keep getting the odd request for "when you releasing a new pic pack". The main problem is I don't want to compile the packs all on my own simply because I have other projects and when I do cut I cut infrequently.

Which leads to the logic behind this topic, I know I am just one of the guys here cutting pics so I thought why don't we all come together and maybe some of the guys who don't cut pics but can help with sourcing pics and/or putting together the packs we could compile a good selection of pics.

I also think that the EWWarehouse has a file limit of 10MB so to break this pack down into smaller packs would be good to host them there.

These are a quick idea on packs to possibly set up

WWE and TNA wrestler and staff

North American wrestler (Non-WWE/TNA)

Mexican wrestler

Japanese wrestler

European wrestler

Champions (wrestlers holding titles)

Celebrities and Non-Wrestlers

Random

So the question is would anybody want to lend a hand in some way for this?

Can we just do organic pictures placed in a black frame of a specific pixel-width? Cutting individual wrestlers just to put on some stupid background is a complete waste of time working on one wrestler when you could have made seven or eight others during the time spent finding a good picture and cutting it.

Um, not to be a shill but if you look in my sig I do WWE,TNA and NXT images. Mine are a couple months out of date but if there was more interest I'd gladly update them more often. In fact in my next update I'll be adding a "No Picture" or unknown image to each set to use for the lesser staff.

I cut workers pics mainly for Japan and Mexico, I hear what people are saying about organics vs kyky, but the problem with the whole area is that if you have committed a lot to using a pre-made bg like kyky it's waaaaaay more time and effort to begin using a new system. Every since the original TEW I have been using kyky, so all my pics are on kyky - God knows where half of those original photos are. In short, it's much easier for me and maybe other people who already cut to stick to their current system then start a whole new set, with a new cut for every worker, than compile a picture pack with their pre-existing cuts. Also, because of good people like the TheWho87, there is a fuck load of kyky cuts already done, many for obscure guys. Meaning the work-load required to make a 'new' picture pack would probably be lower than an organic pack.

Obviously this is just where i'm at though, so if I was to contribute it would only be to a kyky pack, as I stated above I cbf beginning an organic collection. I'm sure other people would and do cut organic already, there's a guy on GDS, Fleisch, who has a data-set and using organic cuts I believe.

I'd gladly help out, but I'm not very good at cutting pictures to a background. I can do simpler things though, like searching for pics online, cropping and resizing images to 150x150 (obviously while retaining the same scale) if that's going to be of any use.

PS: Some of you may remember a few years ago when I was trying to compile a picture pack for the original data and I've got pictures for about 90% of those workers (mostly not on the KyKy background) and later started doing the same for a 1996 data set. If those are any help I'd be willing to share them around too.

I believe that Bill has an organic pack that he uses with his updates, I will admit that I am not a fan of the kyky background, to me it’s too busy, I'd rather use the grey background I use for logos simply because its clean and simple but as pointed out kyky has been used for so long and so much has been cut on it it’s easier to compile a good collection, and I don’t envision doing this on a whole new background simply because the time and effort to redo cuts would outweigh the ones already about plus I did try and do that before and the amount of time it took doing cuts on a new background and on KyKy (to avoid the whole "can you put this on kyky" discussion/repetition) was too much. The idea is this is a simple compilation for those who want pics on a background that being said if someone wants to do a separate pack set on an organic background I for one won’t stop you it but personally it’s not my plan.

My original idea was that the WWE/TNA pack would just be for those who tend to play as the main promotions and don’t really care about the other region but thought it might be more logical to include the main promotions from North America in one pack so it to include WWE, TNA, ROH, PWG, DGUSA, Evolve, Shimmer, Shine and others (open to suggestions) and then having the other packs broken down by nationality/active working areas, I was also thinking of the possibly of having the packs have two folders separating the male and female pics.

This could be the revised pack list

- Main North American Promotions

- North American wrestlers

- Mexican wrestlers

- Japanese wrestlers

- European wrestlers

- Rest of the World wrestlers

- Champions (wrestlers holding titles)

- Random

Also to avoid confusion and to keep things simple the pics should be under the full name of the character so in other words not shortened to fit the EWR limits and not under their real name like some TEW mods have set up.

Also just to mention the Champions pack will probably be my project, I had a lot of doubles in my own pack that were wrestlers holding titles and decided to separate them to make them easier to find and sort through.

I thought I remember there being a 10MB limit on files, I have never heard of those things and as such I'm not familiar.

There is a 10MB limit if you upload through the standard wordpress interface (which my host will not allow to be expanded for some reason), but by using FTP you can upload larger files directly. I'll see if I can find a way to integrate a browser based ftp client for people to use.

Ok well the whole 10MB limit wasnt really an issue, personally my pack is about 40MB and the logic behind breaking it down into smaller packs is both a "I want to expand my pics for X region" as well as making it easier to keep the packs upto date and improving, a lot tends to get missed in one massive pack.
