  1. I got into music through wrestling, actually. So basically I got into a lot of crap "nu-metal" at the start. Favorites at this point would have probably been Drowning Pool and Saliva. I got into Megadeth from a Smackdown vs. RAW game I believe. Still love them. From the edgier older stuff to the more standard heavy metal new stuff its all pretty great. I believe at one point I just got bored with what I was listening to and decided I wanted to try and get into more music, so I started listening to Nirvana. No idea where I heard of them from, but I was under the impression that they did 'Teenage Dirtbag' a song I remembered from being a kid. >_< Anyway, so after getting completely and utterly hooked on Nirvana (still my favorite band) I still wanted to find lots of new music so I started to listen to lots of other stuff from that era/scene. I got into Alice in Chains, Soundgarden + Pearl Jam at first but found some less well known stuff as well, like Mudhoney. I loved Mudhoney, I heard there sound and sorta though, "this is what I want to listen to". So I did some research and stuff and basically found out that Mudhoney where pretty much similar to punk-rock. So my music taste split three ways here really, I was still getting into lots of metal (more proper stuff at this point), into lots of 'grunge' and other hard-rock and was trying to listen to some punk-rock. So I started with the obvious one, the Sex Pistols. Got into them along with The Ramones and The Clash but with anything more underground then that I was a bit stuck. But through those bands I got into a bit more 'hardcore' stuff like Black Flag, and the more modern stuff like Comeback Kid, Modern Life Is War and Bane. When I got into year 10 a friend of mine got me into lots of softer bands like Paramore and Blink-182. Got into lots of pop-punk (Fall Out Boy, Blink) and the hardcore influenced pop-punk (Four Year Strong, The Wonder Years). I got into more metal as I've said. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Iron Maiden would be favorites. I found more and more metal and became pretty obsessed with it at one point and started to listen to more 'extreme metal'. I ended up getting into metalcore and "deathcore" as it seems to be called. Parkway Drive, I Killed The Prom Queen, Bring Me The Horizon, Job For A Cowboy, Architects...that sorta thing. It's all got that hardcore vibe which I liked. I started to really like anything which was fast or heavy at this point. Those bands aren't very popular with a lot of people into extreme music, but whatever. I love it. So from here I sorta branched out on to anything which was heavy or fast. Most recently I’ve been listening to a lot of grindcore…Napalm Death, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Gorerotted, Repulsion etc. But yeah, I never stopped listening to anything really apart from the early crappy nu-metal stuff. This is probably a mess because I went from not being interested in music at all to it being the main thing in my life in like 2 years so it all happened pretty fast. In conclusion, I got into everything from pop-rock to death metal because of a wrestling game.
  2. Yes. Yes it was. :@ SECONDED. :@ Though, a lot of that list is hype-based, TVotR's record is actually pretty damn awesome. I will say that Scarlett over like everything else it's above, even Coldplay, is fucking ridiculous. But other than that, it's pretty close to what I'd expect a Brit top 50 list to be. So I searched Frightened Rabbit after realising they were a semi-famous group and came across this thread. They were listed at the NYE party I was at last night, but I'm not sure if I saw them play or not (there were 3 different levels with live bands playing at all times on 2 of them, so I didn't see them all). What are they like? (Edit: Actually, are these the guys that had a dude playing both keyboard and guitar? Hah, I vaguely remember watching them, turning to a mate and going 'These guys aren't very good' before we left to go to another floor >_>) The Teenagers were also there and they were pretty damn awesome, they were on stage when it hit midnight, and more-or-less got every good looking girl on the floor up on stage to party with them >_> Yeah, I saw them (Frightened Rabbit) live with Biffy Clyro a few weeks ago and they where awful. The crowd really didn't like them. The other support band, People In Planes sounded pretty cool though.
  3. I know it was mentioned by the topic starter and then again by someone else but when I saw the thread title Lounge Act of Nevermind was the first song that came into my head. I think the entire albums good. Breed, Stay Away and Drain You are also great tracks off that album besides the obvious ones.
  4. Bree Bree by Brokencyde is a much better listen then the song posted in this thread...if you can get past...well, everything about it.
  5. Chiodos are a slightly less heavy version of Drop Dead, Gorgeous. Similar to Underoath...you could try bands like I Killed The Prom Queen, Job For A Cowboy, Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence, Walls Of Jericho.
  6. Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die - Four Year Strong.
  7. 1) Nirvana 2) Mudhoney 3) Megadeth 4) Metallica 5) Sex Pistols 6) Ramones 7) Slipknot 8) Soundgarden 9) Blood Red Shoes 10) Pearl Jam The top four are people who I generally play a lot and love, but after that it is pretty much some recent favorites. Ah well.
  8. Assuming thats Crown of Thorns then it is an awesome song, but would you shut the fuck up about grunge in every single post you make? They're a rock band from Seattle, it does not make them fucking "grunge". If your posts are anything to go by anyway you know very little about "grunge" besides what you've read on wikipedia.
  9. I've always been put off punk by what seems to be the majority of the fans (like the deadkennedys guy). The whole attitude is just so pretentious and fucked up especially when to me (and I admit I don't know a lot about punk, but this is just what it seems like) the whole "scene" built on contradictory bullshit. I have however always been a fan of the Sex Pistols and the Ramones. I'd appreciate any recommendations who I might enjoy as I like them. I like Gallows too, I always considered them punk or hardcore (someone will probably correct me) so any recommendations of similar bands to them would be appreciated too.
  10. Well, I want to play DOTT in WS2 but I'm not quite sure how to install it. I downloaded it (always a good start) but after that I'm pretty lost. I keep WS in "C:\Documents and Settings\Jordan\Start Menu\Programs" but when I go into the WS folder all that is there is the actually icon you click to start the game. I tried making a folder called DATA in there and chucking all the stuff in there but that didn't work. So, what am I supposed to do to make it work?
  11. Yeah, I'd had my guitar for a few months before I got lessons and they really do motivate you to get better. Mainly because you know you're doing things right and like was said, you really don't want to turn up and not have improved.
  12. I play electric guitar. I've been having lessons for perhaps 2-3 months now. I suck pretty bad, but I'm working hard and getting better. I find it really helps if you just keep a positive attitude and think "Well, I couldn't do that a couple weeks of ago" so you know your getting better. I seem to improve more when I stay positive instead of just sitting there thinking "I suck". I don't think I'm progressing all that fast compared to what other people seem to be saying but my guitar teacher thinks I'm doing pretty good for how long I've been playing. I suppose he would say that. Oh well, I'm young and have plenty of time I guess.

    Best Of...

I've done Nirvana also, I really didn't like the track listing on there greatest hits. This isn't exactly what I'd want, as I've done it quite quickly and I've tried to keep it realistic as well. Nirvana Blew (Bleach) Negative Creep (Bleach) Been A Son (Incesticide) In Bloom (Nevermind) Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nevermind) Come As You Are (Nevermind) Aneurysm (Incesticide) Serve The Servants (In Utero) You Know You’re Right (Nirvana) Heart Shaped Box (In Utero) tourette's (In Utero) About A Girl (MTV Unplugged) Where Did You Sleep Last Night? (MTV Unplugged) All Apologies (MTV Unplugged) Couldn't decide between "Something In The Way"/"Lake Of Fire"/"Where Did You Sleep Last Night". Went with the last one, but I'm not sure. Would have liked "Sappy" or "Verse Chorus Verse" on there too.

    I just came...

Well, as a major Metal Gear Solid 2 fan I think that's pretty cool. I might have a go at learning to play that.
  15. Evanescence...I'm not quite sure why, I've never really thought about it until this topic but they fit.
