  1. That game was so fun last night. Dioner Navarro hustled to third on a double and an error. Edwin hit that huge home run. Pillar makes that diving catch. Bautista nearly gets plunked, then mashes a dinger. Baseball is awesome, you guys.
  2. I can't actually access the links because I'm at work, but when CKII updates, the mod no longer works and you need to re-download it once they update the mod.
  3. It probably only really helps if your guy has a decent power rating anyway.
  4. I really only use Power Swings when I'm in good counts. 3-0 (though I almost always take this pitch), 3-1. Sometimes on 2-0 or 2-1. Your less like to hit the ball, but if you do, you're swinging with more power. It has to be a pretty good pitch (something over the middle of the plate). It's almost harder to hold back on, so if the ball gets thrown out of the strike zone and you flinch, you could potentially cross the plate. With that being said, I've occasionally hit a home run with a contact swing on 0-2.
  5. He makes me root for the Viet Cong I texted my friend the minute that scene ended and just said "Hope he dies in 'Nam." Someone really should have told Matthew Weiner his son can't act. Especially since all his scenes have been with talented, believable actresses in January Jones and Kiernan Shipka (even if her future is in voice acting). And meanwhile here's this kid just messing everything up and sounding nervous as all hell at having a camera in his face. I said literally just about the same thing on Alan Sepinwall's blog last night. Judd Apatow is starting to get a tad offended by the nepotism displayed by the Weiner family. But putting Bob Benson in teaser montage and not delivering Bob Benson should be a felony and quite possibly a death penalty offense. MRW Bob Benson is not actually in the episode...
  6. Beat my roommate in the 15th inning with an inside the park home run when this glitch happened. He was not happy.
  7. I saw someone talking about that gif where they comment on how he somehow manages to flip himself over without moving a single muscle in his body. It's astounding. To me, the end is all about Mike vs. Shirin. I wouldn't mind either winning, really. Both were so unlikable in the beginning of the game. Mike has proved himself to be a far better player than I gave him credit for in the early stages. Shirin has proven to be far more self-aware than I gave her credit for in the early stages. I'd be more impressed with a Shirin win, considering that she's been at the bottom of the game this entire time, but if Mike wins, I think he deserves it. He's played a fairly good game.
  8. My PSN is g_leeder, so if you get an invite, that's me.
  9. It's early though! Only two months into the season. And my guy's only 18 years old. I'll be fine... maybe.
  10. Played my RTTS pitcher last night. I'm a Yankees prospect. I've been super inconsistent so far. I'll go from pitching 8 innings of 3 hit ball to throwing 3 innings and giving up 6 runs. Pretty frustrating. I end up relying too much on a certain pitch when I find it's working. It's frustrating when my slider won't break. It's one of my go-to strike out pitches and when it's 2-0 and they hammer it, well, it sucks.
  11. They played that like 50 times last night on the broadcast. MNP is probably so in love with Kevin Pillar right now.
  12. Yeah, you only have to play as your own character. You only have to do your own at-bats, your own fielding and your own base-running. You can also turn off fielding and base-running if all you want to do is bat as your RTTS player.
  13. Whenever I play RTTS, I always start with my own name, but then I love to mix things up in my different position ones. Coming up with fun baseball names is a ton of fun. Lefty Gonzalez, Bo Burns, etc. My friend has a long standing tradition of naming his player Tug Cox.
  14. Hey guys, I've been away all weekend for a work thing. When I get home from the Jays game tonight, I'll look into getting the last few invites out for the league. Think I'm going to take the A's.
  15. I think I set it to the smallest number of games just so that we can actually just try and finish one. I think it's 14 games, set to an open schedule so you can play your games as freely as you'd like.
  16. PSN names and teams you'd like and I'll send out invites.
  17. Fair enough. We could look at it again around that time.
  18. Maybe we could set up a small test Franchise with around six of us? Anybody interested?
  19. I know we say this every year but we should actually start an online league. Actually, fuck it. I'm just going to try and set one up right now.
  20. This is how I try and build my MLB teams. 5 starters 1 long reliever (a guy who can come in and pitch multiple innings in case the starter gets knocked out early, this can either be a starter or a reliever who has a bit of stamina) 3 middle relievers (I try to have at least one of these guys be a lefty) 2 set up relievers (one typically pitches the 7th, one pitches the 8th) 1 closer Then fill all your positions. If you're in the AL, you'll have a DH and 4 bench spots. If you're in the NL, you'll have 5 bench spots. As an AL team, I try and fill my bench with 1 back-up catcher, 1 extra infielder, 1 extra outfielder, and then a utility guy (someone who can play a bunch of positions).
  21. I bought it. I think so. The engine seems to be a bit better. And it's really nice to have everything licensed.
  22. I like playing the last game of every series. You're either going for the sweep, the win, or trying not to get swept.
