  1. Yes, his propensity for the drink is why we let him go and he ended up in non-league in the first place. The lad has fabulous ability, but seemingly not the tools to put it all together.
  2. I thoroughly enjoyed that race, very glad I avoided spoilers as well considering the outcome. That crash at the end was big, bet Russell felt a bit vulnerable stuck in a beached car in the middle of a fast section of the track there.
  3. Okay so these are friendlies, but whatever. Christoph Baumgartner scored the fastest goal in international football history tonight, striking after 6 seconds for Austria against Slovakia Almost unbelievably, later in the evening Florian Wirtz scored for Germany after 7 seconds against France...if not for Baumgartner, this would have been the quickest goal ever. Bizarre coincidence.
  4. Yeesh. I do get it because Albon is vastly superior to Sargeant, but that can't be good for team harmony and when both drivers have zero points in the championship, it seems markedly unfair. It's embarrassing enough that Williams don't have the capability to replace the chassis.
  5. It is cynical though that they have banned front-of-shirt sponsors, so clubs are falling over themselves to get money from them while they can before the ban comes in. Football is about money and revenue. Players, fans and all the rest pale into insignificance behind it.
  6. I guess Leicester won't be suing Everton over their relegation then.
  7. Hey, I was right. They've said Wilson is the definite starter but surely it won't take too much for them to put Fields in, of Wilson continues a downturn. It will be extremely funny if Williams doesn't end up being all they say he is, since the Bears got basically nothing for Fields.
  8. You may well end up with Fields. The fact the Steelers are only on the hook with Wilson for a year at minimum salary might mean they take that punt, but I know they'll have told Wilson he's the starter already or else he wouldn't have signed.
  9. Conversely, I'm not surprised at all. It was rumoured last off-season, he's put a lot of miles on his body. Hell of a career, it goes without saying. It's also great news, as a Cardinals fan, that we don't have to play him twice a year anymore.
  10. I'm not really seeing that, beyond the fact that City and Real are playing each other when they're probably the two best sides. I don't think there's too much to choose between the rest, honestly. Bayern are having a dreadful season by their own standards, for instance, and Arsenal have the least (recent) pedigree at this level.
  11. Told you there was nothing to worry about @Cymbols
  12. Sure, but it's not the only factor. There is only so much room in any squad, I feel like every time there's a squad announcement so many players get mentioned as being unfairly left out - but Southgate and his team assess all the options, weigh them up for multiple reasons. If I'm being honest, were we to suddenly need an injection of attacking threat behind Kane from the bench, I'd be more enthused by seeing Toney or Watkins come on than Solanke. But it's a toss-up really and ultimately whoever he takes will likely, hopefully, be sitting on the bench watching Kane score the goals because he's the best centre forward on the planet.
  13. For all the criticism of Southgate, he's clearly given newcomers a chance to impress for the Euros. Branthwaite, Gordon, Palmer, Gallagher, Konsa, Bowen, Toney are all in the "will their good form get them into the squad" conversations at the moment.
  14. From what I read, Edwards turned down the Sporting Director role in January and has come back because Liverpool offered him to be the boss of the Sporting Director instead.
  15. Liverpool should be happier than Man City with the point, I'd say. Especially with the players out injured. I can see the argument either way for the Doku foul at the end, I'm not too surprised it wasn't overturned. Who has the harder run-in, on paper, out of the top three? Going to be an interesting end to the campaign.
  16. I checked also @Chris2K and Pourchaire starts his Super Formula season this weekend, so he is in Japan at present and thus completely unavailable for F1.
  17. That is true, but De Vries had much more racing experience and was Formula E World Champion. Whilst Pourchaire has won F2, he's got a similar experience level to Bearman, plus Williams did have the engine tie-up with Mercedes, who De Vries was contracted to. Also worth noting that Bearman is seen as a prodigy in the sport. It's like giving a rookie Verstappen or Piastri a chance when it presents itself. I do agree that it's a shame the F2 Champion has something of a bottleneck after winning it, but there's literally no point staying in F2 once you've won it. There are so few race seats into Formula 1 that you have to basically come off as a can't-miss prospect or else have lots of sponsor money to appeal to a backmarker, like Sargeant and Mazepin did, otherwise you're out of luck.
  18. Pourchaire isn't a Ferrari reserve, and Bearman has the advantage of already being there and already used to the track out of the Ferrari reserves - he qualified on Pole for the F2 race earlier. What an opportunity for Bearman - he is considered along with Antonelli as the next big prospect out of the juniors so he has a chance to cement that here. Hope Carlos gets well soon and is back for Australia. He did Practice yesterday with appendicitis which is pretty tough of him.
  19. It looks really faithful to the universe, I will say that. I'm hopeful it'll be decent...but then I love Walton Goggins so it's already appealing to me.
  20. Obviously I knew they were AI images - it was more just that the actual track rendering was hideous and had loads of hairpins, notoriously slow and overtake-averse turns. And that the link was dead anyway.
  21. Needs more hairpin turns, it only has about 8 at this stage. (If it's real - the article link goes nowhere)
  22. I wonder if all of this might intensify talk of F1 trying to break away from the FIA again. Hasn't been too many years since that was mooted regularly.
  23. Or you can just play Football Manager 2008 itself.
  24. His entire tenure in charge has been a complete disaster, he seems a nightmare for the governance of the sport. All F1 is getting is bad headlines at the moment.
  25. Error or not, wasn't it 1-2 minutes between the drop ball and the goal? The carry-on over this is ridiculous.
