Broken Matt Harvey is an obsolete mule who needs to be deleted from the plane of existence known as MLB.

Meanwhile, Sandy Alderson is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Mets' PowerPoint presentation for Ohtani.

The Giants and Raiders suck, so the Eagles probably won't have much issue clinching a bye even without Wentz. Can't see them going to deep into the playoffs now though unless their defense really steps up.

Morris had a 3.90 ERA and an ERA+ of barely over 100 despite pitching in an era that was very favorable to pitchers. He was a mediocre pitcher who had a couple of good years. He had a great run in the 1991 World Series, and I think that one series alone is why people voted for him.

Alan Trammell and Jack Morris have been elected to the Hall of Fame by the Modern Era committee. Morris had 15 years to get on the ballot voted on by hundreds of writers, and now a few years later he goes in because 14 of 16 voters decided he should go in. He's an even worse inductee than Jim Rice.

I bet the Packers find a way to steal the 6th seed behind a returning Rodgers. It's feeling reminiscent of 2013 when Rodgers missed a ton of time only for him to come back just in time for the Packers to somehow win their division at 8-8. Just feels like the stars and planets always align to get that team into the postseason.

Offensive linemen at the military schools are undersized compared to typical college football linemen because there are weight and conditioning requirements all military members must adhere to. Hence, pass blocking is impractical.

The Yankees just found a way to take on the most ridiculous contract in baseball because they saw a unique opportunity to add a mega star who could put them over the top. The Mets meanwhile can't even afford to be in on guys like Lance Lynn or Lorenzo Cain. Despite being only 2 years removed from being in the World Series, they're back to ground zero and look like they'll be in the midst of a long rebuild. This is the first time in my life I'm seriously thinking of just jumping ship. I'm not even saying that sarcastically. The Mets thoroughout their history are known for only ever having 2 or 3 good years in a row before a rebuild that lasts 5-7 seasons. They're just an atrociously run organization and that's not going to ever change unless the Wilpons get ousted. All they care about is pinching pennies, which is a fucking disgrace considering the market they're in and the numerous financial windfalls available to them.

The eight fans the Marlins have must really be hating the Jeter Era.

Yeah, even though it sounds like the Marlins have agreed upon trade proposals for the Giants and Cardinals, Stanton isn't thrilled about going to either of those places. So he's told the front office that he only wants to go to one of this year's final four teams: Astros, Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs. People are comparing it to Kevin Durant but it's not even close. Durant willingly left a team that was only a win away from the finals to go to the team that beat him. Stanton doesn't want to leave, he's just been told in no uncertain terms that they can't afford to build a team around him. So if they're going to move him, he may as well go to a team that can win a title fairly quickly. Comparing the situations is apples and oranges with the sports they are, anyway. Basketball is incredibly easy to predict and Durant leaving essentially ended the season 11 months early and was basically an easy pass for a ring. Stanton could go to a team well positioned to win but even then the best teams in baseball can easily lose a best of five or best of seven series.

The statement Gordon's agent put out is low key hilarious. A full paragraph talking him up as one of the best second baseman in the major leagues and how it would be highly unusual for a player of his caliber to ever be asked to switch positions. And that even though he has only four months to learn a new position, he will take the new challenge in stride and do whatever he can to help his new team. They make it sound like he's being asked to play a new position and he's taking one for the team by doing so. Except he wasn't being asked, he was being told that's what he's doing.

As best I can tell the game still only allows you to have one MITB holder at any given time. The only workaround is to schedule, say, the women's MITB to open the show with the women's title match scheduled for the middle of the show as it was in real life. Then you have the MITB winner cash in on the same night before the men's MITB happens at the end of the show. What I did was only have a men's MITB at the PPV, but I will ensure the cash in happens before the Rumble. Then at the Rumble I'll have a women's MITB on the undercard since you can't do a Women's Rumble or anything. So the winner of that will have until the actual MITB PPV to cash in. Speaking of which, another Rumble workaround is to temporarily deactivate all but 32 men from the Raw and SD rosters (be sure to put "mystery entrants" on one of the shows if you want them). The World champions will be left out and the remaining 30 would be automatically put in the Rumble match. Gives you at least some control over who might win since you can assure you've deactivated the schmucks you don't want to win.

JuJu Smith-Schuster just laid out Vontaze Burfict with a vicious block, but then stood over his limp body and taunted before he got stretchered out. I know Burfict's been the dirtiest player in football....but fuck's sake. Dude needs to be suspended for multiple games.

I have a feeling the experiment of Ohtani as a hitter won't last long. He has legitimate pop, but he struck out over 40% of the time in a league that is widely viewed to be around Triple A level in terms of the level of competition compared to the Majors. I'll guess within a year or two he'll concede that pitching is his meal ticket and focus on that full time.
