  1. In what has become an annual tradition, MLB is once again banning the Mets from wearing first responder caps on 9/11. They’re allowed to wear them during batting practice but then an MLB rep goes around and confiscates them from all of the players and coaches. Strange hill Joe Torre continues to want to die on. He’s questioned about it every year and he compares it to the caps everyone wears on the 4th of July or other holidays that are observed leaguewide. Either every team has to do it or nobody can do it at all.
  2. Belichick also cut his news conference after less than four minutes since all of the questions were about Brown. His hatred for the press continues.
  3. Christian Yelich fractured his kneecap during tonight’s game. Done for the season and likely clinches the MVP for Cody Bellinger.
  4. Brown remains eligible to play because it’s a civil lawsuit, not a criminal one. And because it’s the NFL, nothing will happen to him.
  5. A former trainer has filed a lawsuit accusing Antonio Brown of three separate incidents of sexual assault and rape.
  6. Raiders deserved that win after the nonsense AB dragged them through.
  7. Prevent defense prevents you from winning. No idea why teams still use it.
  8. Giants fans practically willed the Daniel Jones pick into existence by talking about him so much last fall. So I implore those same fans to please start talking about Chase Young ASAP.
  9. What day is it today? NINE-NINE!
  10. Nah, he instantly becomes the most likable Patriot.
  11. Not even a full year after winning a World Series, the Red Sox have fired Dave Dombrowski.
  12. Bill also had far more playoff and championship wins than Shula and he's coached in seven fewer seasons. He's the best coach in history and has nothing left to prove. That said, I've always assumed they were a package deal in retirement. I can totally see Brady not wanting to retire and risk Bill simply moving on and winning without him. Cause then you'd get the "Brady = system quarterback" jabs even though every QB is a system QB.
  13. There really look like there are only about four tough games on New England’s schedule. Just eyeballing it the Chiefs, Eagles, Cowboys, and maybe Ravens are the only ones that give me pause. I didn’t count tonight because they’ve largely owned the Steelers. Same reason I won’t count the Texans either. We always joke about the regular season being extended preseason for the Patriots but it really feels like it this year.
  14. I agree with that. I was screaming for Josh Allen, punting this season and taking one of the top three QBs next year. But I’m at least feeling a little better about Jones and am hopeful he isn’t as bad as I thought he was when they took him so early. I’m no pro scout. But if 2020 is a weak pass rush...yeesh.
  15. Anyone with more knowledge of college football than me want to tell me who the top edge rushers for the 2020 draft? Gives me something to dream of.
  16. The Giants defense looked so bad on paper that it had me doubting my understanding. But I was right because it’s just common sense: 1. They have no pass rush so the CBs are extra vulnerable. 2. They have no coverage linebackers so the safeties have to come down to the line of scrimmage out of necessity. End result, middle of the field wide open on virtually every pass play. It’s a complete personnel and schematic failure. I legitimately don’t know how they’re going to stop anybody, and my 7-9 prediction now looks way too generous. This team is picking top 3.
  17. Giants defense would make the Big 12 blush.
  18. A half is all I needed to see to rule this season as a cross out. The Giants defense is every bit as bad as I feared it would be. The only intrigue I have in watching this season is waiting for Daniel Jones.
  19. Nothing to compound the misery of the Giants facing a far better Dallas team Week 1 than having to listen to Buck and Aikman.
  20. Harbaugh runs up the score. 4th and goal, touchdown. 59-10 Baltimore
  21. Josh Allen’s performance today will probably lead to more of these in the MetLife Stadium parking lot after the game.
