  1. Yeah, again, my financial situation forces me to be extremely picky, but in a perfect world I'd take in as much I could from the people I listed. I'd agree with the director comment too.
  2. See, I'd say the same for Mara. I thought she was goddamn great in the Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but I can't say just seeing her in a cast list for an upcoming film would get me to go. That leads me to a more broad point: I don't know if there's even 5 total actors and actresses (living or dead) whose mere presence in a cast will make it a must see film for me. As much as acting is a passion of mine, it takes a (somewhat variable) total confluence of elements to draw me into viewing. That has a lot to do with my tightness with money, but circumstances like that really show you what you value in entertainment. Back to the main topic: that's why my list is essentially a "These are the people to observe if you want to do it right" list. A list of 15 people who will guarantee I'll see a film simply doesn't exist. No matter how much I'd love to be mutually naked with Olivia Wilde.
  3. Oh, I'm not saying I expect everyone here to have seen How Stella Got Her Groove Back (hell, I haven't) or even The Score (an underrated film.) I'm just saying there's a shit-ton of great actresses out there we have likely ignored. Again, it's not a surprising statement, but something worth noting.
  4. I totally realize the criteria could be whatever the voter chooses, and I have no gripes with that. Moreover, I even like Zooey Deschanel and Olivia Wilde (whose inclusion seems to be in a simliar spirit), depending on what they're in. But. Meryl Streep. Julianne Moore. Sigourney Weaver. Maggie Smith. Helen Mirren. Glenn Close. Angela Bassett. And a hundred other names. You guys. That's all I'm saying.
  5. Zooey Deschanel is gonna be in the Top 5 actresses, isn't she? Damn you guys.
  6. That's disappointing to hear. As a fan of at least 75% of that cast, it seemed pretty damned appealing.
  7. I'm Mark Ruffalo.

  8. Gremlins 2. I'll carry that (match) torch 'til I die.
  9. I like how some of these Best Actress lists read like "Aw, dammit, I'll never get to have sex with these five women. " And by "like", I mean "Ugh. You guys."
  10. I totally understand why you did this, but I still think it would be interesting to see people fill in ten actresses. You all knew I was going to make this post, didn't you. If you didn't, then I would. I'm listing 10 actresses. Just count the first 5, if you wish. This is definitely a mix of "The Best at What They Do" and "I Would Personally Love to Work With/Watch Them." I may have to edit later, as this was toooouuuugh to figure out. Living Actor: 1. Phillip Seymour Hoffman 2. Dustin Hoffman 3. Jack Nicholson 4. Tom Hanks 5. Gary Oldman 6. Daniel Day-Lewis 7. Hugh Laurie 8. Jeff Bridges 9. Bill Murray 10. Geoffrey Rush Living Actress: 1. Meryl Streep (How the hell am I the first to list her?) 2. Helen Mirren 3. Cate Blanchett 4. Julianne Moore 5. Amy Poehler (Comic actors/actresses hardly ever get the respect they properly deserve.) 6. Sigourney Weaver 7. Kate Winslet 8. Patricia Clarkson 9. Natalie Portman 10. Marissa Tomei Deceased: 1. Paul Newman 2. Peter Sellers 3. Jimmy Stewart 4. Marlon Brando 5. Henry Fonda Jesus, that was tough. And I'm still not certain. Hope I can edit later.
  11. Actually a pretty damn good night overall. 30 Rock was fun, but the end tag with Kelsey Grammer outdid the rest of the episode. Parks and Rec was on it's game too. Bobby Neeeewwwport. Also, Ron killing off the other department's projects was too damn fun. But, for once, I felt The Office owned the night. Obviously, I'm a sucker for Robert California, and this whole episode was bathed in his oddly-appealing sex grease. Plus, Erin's another favorite of mine. Anything that pulls her and Andy closer together is gonna grab my attention. Oh, and Toby was given a rare moment to shine. Such a fun night. But, fuck, guys. I still miss Community.
  12. It just now struck me how Matt LeBlanc looks like a bargain basement George Clooney.
  13. GO OILERS!

I forget that there's actually a North American professional team called the Oilers that still exists.

  14. Is that that shit that looks like an ill-advised Bosom Buddies revival?
  15. Parks and Rec was definitely fun. Office had sort of a down night, in my opinion. 30 Rock would probably rank somewhere in between. Fuck, I miss Community.
  16. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I was completely floored by it. I totally recommend it.
  17. And it can suck down some bleach for all I care. The performances are fine and dandy; it's fantastic to see Sara Gilbert & Johnny Galecki get credit where credit is due. It's the writing that kills this show. It's complete fluff. Nothing happens with any real weight or consequence. OH AN THEY SCIENCEY! Yes, hahaha, Bill Prady used to be a computer programmer and so we get gorged with references to various scientific theories and practices. Then again, isn't it nice that a show following three professors with doctorates (and one with a Masters in Engineering) can do so well in times where we're bludgeoned over the head with economic doom and gloom? The wife loves this show, and I only tolerate it for her sake and the fact that it's nice to see people like Gilbert, Galecki, and Jim Parsons get their mainstream due. It's junk food television, folks. Enjoy. Can I get a wheelbarrow of ones to plus?
  18. Dude, something tells me you'd love Community.
