  1. My theory: A couple of spoiled rich kids taking a stab at starting a business using seed money from daddy and falling backwards into running a pyramid scheme.
  2. Their website is great, it heavily implies that he's legendary due to his managerial career. Why learn from a Pep Guardiola when you can go to UAE instead? https://alqabilafc.com/
  3. Those will look great contingent on how many varieties of pants colors they have and what they decide to pair with what.
  4. I guess Robert Kraft didn't manage to reach out to McAfee about how he couldn't trust BB.
  5. Leave it to *checks notes* Atletico to wind up being in a thriller.
  6. This, Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest, and Ajax in the 70s are all football stories of want a prestige documentary treatment for ahead of the Man Utd 99 team.
  7. Long season ahead of us but this is currently in the lead as the catch of the year.
  8. The East feels like such a foregone conclusion. Celtics have boatraced that conference like the LeBron-led teams did in the 00s.
  9. Suns were basically in 1st gear all regular season it seemed like. And while regular season results are often meaningless it's hard to not see a 6 seed Suns team as the toughest out in the first round.
  10. Luton 1-1 Brentford (Sat 3pm) Sheff Utd 1-1 Burnley (Sat 3pm) Wolves 0-2 Arsenal (Sat 7.30pm, Sky) Everton 1-0 Nottm Forest (Sun 1.30pm, Sky) Crystal Palace 1-2 West Ham (Sun 3pm)
  11. "Get fucked Charlie Sheen" - Jim Curtin, probably
  12. This won't be the last twist & turn in the title race but it will be where we likely all go "that's when Arsenal lost the title".
  13. This won't be the last twist & turn in the title race but it will be where we likely all go "that's when Liverpool lost the title". Now to see whether Arsenal or City is the other club that has that moment.
  14. It could actually happen given the way the lottery is weighted but imagine if they win the rights to Celebrini. The conspiracy theories would never go away. I do think the NHL is tougher than we give it credit for to properly rebuild in, but taking advantage of free agency and moving draft capital around makes it about as easy as the NFL to have a one-season turnaround; the problem with that being sustaining it. If you're a new team in a new market you likely want to sustain it. Also - hopefully this means we can now get a winter classic game at lovely LaVell Edwards Stadium.
  15. At this point Man Utd are the club version of the Breaking Bad "he can't keep getting away with this" meme. It's astounding how many matches they've been wholly outplayed and manage to scrape by with a point or three.
  16. They all saw the Premier League's new spending rules and said "nah, we're good".
  17. The thing is people already liked Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds whereas only the biggest crypto weirdos like the Winklevoss Twins.
  18. I mean people were celebrating when he was acquitted for a reason. I remember having a coworker who lived in LA in the mid-90s and he would talk about the reaction basically in the tone of "he definitely did it but getting one over on the LAPD felt so good". I think most of us are smart enough to understand why it felt that way.
  19. I definitely don't think criticizing the prosecution for failing to drive home an alley-oop of a case is really a take at all. It's what happened. Burden of proof is, more often than not, so high in criminal trials for good reason. OJ happened to be this incredibly high-profile case of many people in the public learning about that at the same time. It's why I have been anticipating some idiotic things to be said about the trial and chase and his football legacy. Anyway, this is the NFL thread, and thus far it has been tremendously muted from the NFL and HOF. He's not being completely ignored but for a guy who, prior to 1994, was basically considered a deity in football it feels that way.
  20. Getting that team out of Arizona has been long overdue. The latest twist in their arena saga was so embarrassing, playing in a tiny college arena. I can't think of a market that got so many second chances to make it work. Salt Lake City is a smaller media market and they'll be playing at the same time as the Jazz, so it'll be interesting to see how much staying power they have against the generally more popular basketball.
  21. As always, I'm mostly curious how the big clubs will continue to find a way to circumvent these rules.
  22. It is such a different world than when that first season aired. Nothing unique in the public eye about a superhero show. Wild to think how long ago it was that you couldn't really escape Heroes and it seemed like it was destined to be a central piece of TV for years.
