  1. I've been enjoying it, though I felt the second season wasn't as strong as the debut, just felt a bit lazy in the writing, a lot 'convenient scenarios' (maybe thats a supernatrual part?), especially the final episode. I'm intrigued to see where they go with the next season!

I will say, at least in the US, Canada, and other places I've visited the highest % of shirts I see kids wearing are City's. Sports themed gift shops seem to always have something City on sale. They've done really well becoming popular with the most important demographic to become popular with.

Really? I lived in the US for 5 years as a teacher, never once saw a anyone in a city shirt, the kids consantly wear PSG, Real, Barca, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc.

Gone back to the FIFA Career Mode. Diaz is insane. Easily one of my favourite player's in career mode.

I recently had a career game going when I chose a random league and team, I ended up with Central Coast Mariners. I signed Morgan Rogers for cheap from City as an LW and he did the job. I left the job eventually to go to Norway and then to Ajax. Spent a few years at Ajax rebuilding it into a European powerhouse of youth players, and went to look in on Rogers, he was now a 95 rating and worth 200m.... and still at Central Coast Mariners.

  4. I know it's a different code but it's the only rugby post we have, I've just spent the last 8 days in Australia going to 4 NRL games to tick off a childhood bucket list item. I was spoilt for quality with games, but the highlight was probably Parramatta Vs Penrith, a repeat of last year's grand final. Parramatta is still looking for their first win of the season, Penrith with some absolute quality (including a 45-metre drop goal) and it was a fantastic game for the neutral like me.

  5. Spoiler

With a runtime that short, I have a feeling the finale will end with Joel discovering what the Fireflies plan to do to Ellie and then the first episode of season 2 will be Joel fighting his way to the surgery. Cliffhanger ending for S1 and all that.

This is a pretty good example of why I love the pure chaos of MLS

Plus St. Louis City in its first match goes on the road to Austin, one of the best teams last season, and comes back from 1-2 down to win 3-2 late on. Thiago Almada also had two golazos in that Atlanta comeback. Just straight chaos.

The best part of the two Atlanta goals is it's all down to the Quakes, who in the 2nd half decided they were all made of glass and went down every 20 seconds to try and kill the momentum, so built up a huge injury time clock.

  7. A few come to mind,

Super Mario Bros 3 (I never got games on release day, I grew up on a poor council estate in Liverpool, but my mum and my cousin's mum put money together to get us a copy in the same week it was released. I remember both of us sprinting home from primary school to see that bright yellow box sitting there. The rest is just a blur.)
Metal Gear Solid (the cinematic intro was so cool at the time)
Red Dead Redemption 2 (just for the emotional journey)
Final Fantasy VIII (I missed the boat on VII, VIII was my first play-through of an FF game on my own)
Gran Turismo 2 (I loved how I could buy regular cars that I'd seen in person, customise them and make them faster. I wish someone would do this again but I'm sure licensing rights would be a pain.)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (My first point-and-click adventure game)

  8. Season: A Letter To The Future had been on my list for a long time, and I remember them going through the sexual harassment stuff. I picked it up last night and having only played 45 minutes, it's stunning so far, like taking a slow walk on a lovely day.

I downloaded Car Mechanic Simulator for this exact reason, but it turns out to be more frustrating than it has a any right to be. Had a car where I needed to change the fuel filter.....well you have to get the gas tank off to do the fuel filter.....except I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the fucking gas tank off! IRL I can get the gas tank off a car...apparently a simulator is much more difficult!

I had 2018 of that I think, and I agree, it was a bit too finicky for me. PowerWash Simulator is pretty nice and straight forward.

  10. I'm a huge fan of Martin McDonagh's films, especially these two in 'In Bruges', so I was stoked when this was announced. I finally got to see it last night and it didn't disappoint, fantastically dark-humoured throughout with some pretty stunning cinematic vistas and just wonderful acting (Barry Keoghan is a wonderful surprise in support). Probably one of my favourite films of the last 12 months.

  11. I had a 12-hour flight and got through a few films, this being my favourite. Really interesting gangster thriller with the always brilliant Mark Rylance. I'm always one for a gangster genre film, but this played out refreshingly and reminded me of a solid old-school thriller.

Also watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which was much better than I anticipated, Nicholas Cage at his absolutely outlandish best.

  12. Lithgow got interviewed a few years back and it was brought up, it was a massive bomb in the US, but we Brits loved it, and it's one of the main things hes recognised for when he's greeted by people in the UK which says a lot from his body of work. And for all the stars in it, let us not forget Santa himself was played by THE Jeff Lebowski.

  13. Well, I've just finished Andor season 1, and by far the finest modern 'Star Wars' we had so far.  Roll on Season 2.

    Spoiler

It provides deep context as to how evil characters like Darth Vader, Palpatine, Darth Maul and all their buddies are, what they really represent, and why the rebellion was important.

It shows the Empire's oppression in a way that we all understand, not with acrobatic martial arts and laser swords and space battles (which is actually cool, who the hell didn't want a double-ended lightsabre or to be able to force choke your enemies???), but with monotonous mind-numbing, soul-destroying work and the removal of any dignity afforded to the vulnerable and a complete void of empathy and bullying underpinning all of it. Being a prisoner of the Empire is like being in the most toxic workplace in the universe, where people of little stature are given big sticks and guns.

Andor, for me at least, has recalibrated every Star Wars film and series before it and made them better by showing what's at stake and giving the rebellion greater relevancy...that's pretty impressive.

  14. Phoebe Bridgers has announced a show in Singapore in 2023, so I can finally break my duck here for gigs! The majority of the shows rolling through are overpriced and just not my cup of tea, I was partially tempted by GnR a few weeks back, but at $150 a ticket, a bit too pricey for me.
