  1. Where are you TAFKA? We didn't get to celebrate winning the league together :(

Happy birthday for when/if you ever get this!

  2. Finally caught Alan Partridge - Alpha Papa yesterday. Being a big Partridge fan I was worried it would be a bit shit when taken to the big screen - but fair play it was a really decent film. Good script which played out with a good balance of jokes and covered all the areas I hoped it would. I'm not sure another film could continue the trend of awesomeness with the way it ended but perhaps we'll see. 8.5/10
  3. Yeah it's all a bit desperate isn't it? Vettel and Red Bull are dominating so much I guess the viewing figures must be giving Bernie's pocket a reason to itch... At least they haven't gone back to the idea of giving out medals for Gold/Silver/Bronze for coming 1/2/3 in a GP and then adding them up to have a World Champion at the end of the year, I hated that idea with a passion.
  4. The scary thing about DJ Campbell is he played 32 times the season we (Leicester) got relegated to League 1, he was signed for a decent fee and a really good contract for Championship level - and then proceeded to constantly get offside (15 times against Scunthorpe in one game I believe) and quite few bookings during the course of the season, this could yet be just the tip of the iceberg, if that guy is partly responsible for our relegation for intentionally playing crap or whatever else then this is going to blow up to crazy levels, we were more likely in the bookmakers to get into the promotion places that year. There were also internal rumblings of a few other fringe players from our club having a bet on a League Cup game against Burton last year - which we lost 4-2 (I believe) at home...when im talking "fringe" here as well i'm not talking a reserve side, just guys who were still on inflated contracts £30k+ a week who Pearson wasn't playing due to attitude, wages or whatever else. There's quite a bit of food for thought here, innocent until proven guilty I know, but like I said this could just be the beginnings of a serious dressing down for the English game. Sod's law its my football club as well no doubt.
  5. 1. David James - Portsmouth 2. Glen Johnson - Liverpool 3. Ashley Cole - Chelsea 4. Steven Gerrard - Liverpool 5. Rio Ferdinand - Man Utd 6. John Terry - Chelsea 7. Aaron Lennon - Tottenham 8. Frank Lampard - Chelsea 9. Peter Crouch - Tottenham 10. Wayne Rooney - Man Utd 11. Joe Cole - Chelsea 12. Shaun Wright-Phillips - Man City 13. Robert Green - West Ham 14. Theo Walcott - Arsenal 15. Gareth Barry - Man City 16. James Milner - Aston Villa 17. Ashley Young - Aston Villa 18. Jermaine Defoe - Tottenham 19. Emile Heskey - Aston Villa 20. Ledley King - Tottenham 21. Adam Johnson - Man City 22. Jamie Carragher - Liverpool 23. Joe Hart - Man City Starting XI: 1. David James 2. Glen Johnson 3. Ashley Cole 5. Rio Ferdinand 6. John Terry 4. Steven Gerrard 11. Joe Cole 8. Frank Lampard 15. Gareth Barry 10. Wayne Rooney 9. Peter Crouch James has had just what he personally needed this year, I think he has shown a hell of a lot of resiliance at Portsmouth and it can only have made him a better player - just the sort of character we need in between the sticks. Joe Cole will be fresh after the season he has had and seems to always perform on the international stage. If Barry doesn't make it then I feel the choices are all win-win, i'd pick any of Lennon, Wright-Phillips or Milner to play down the right and push Gerrard in the middle. Upfront Crouch gives us that different option, and keeps people like Defoe fresh to come off the bench if we do need to change it.
  6. It's fantastic to see Blackpool up there, if I could have chosen anyone apart from my boys then it would have been them. Cardiff have built themselves a fantastic side but through some really insane money management, if they had gone up it would have been a huge cop out for them and possibly could have encouraged more teams to work outside their means - now they have to face the consequences without the Premier League money. Blackpool's victory was a victory for the underdog, for the passion of football and for common sense in football, live within your means as a football club and you know what? Someday it might be YOUR day. Despite Holloway sending us down to L1 I wish him and his side a great season next year. Now Ollie do us a favour and offer us £1.5+ million for DJ Campbell
  7. Cheers Yann, you big prick. But yes an awesome song, fair play to the guy that made it. Funny to think that Yann had so much "potential" from his performances abroad and now will only be known in England for that. Stupid. In some ways I hope he does stay with us next year and make up for it.
  8. Quite happy with Leicester's fixtures, opening up at home to Swansea - who might not be settled for the start of the season. Get the away trip against Newcastle out of the way at the end of August, a nice month with three back-to-back local derbies pretty much. Bring on the start of the season. Interesting fact about Leicester is that everytime we have started a season at home at the Walkers (apart from one) we have either gone up or gone down, so should be exciting.
  9. Looking forward to the new season already for the football league. Dissapointing in some ways that the season couldn't just carry on after our winning season in League 1 but I guess its not too far away really. Tomorrow is the big day as at 10am the new fixture list is released, I wouldn't mind a nice home game against Newcastle to start the season
  10. Goal: David Bentley, Arsenal vs. Tottenham. It was a fantastic strike, I agree with the argument for Macheda's goal against Villa as well for the importance but for pure amazement that Bentley's shot found its way into the goal from 40 yards I gotta go for that. Match: Liverpool 4 vs. Arsenal 4. Fantastic game, neither side seemed willing or able to defend and both teams showed their striking prowese to full force. Arshavin was an absolute revelation. Moment: Arshavin vs. Liverpool. Arsenal due to injuries or whatever didn't have a great season, and this one man proved how such a talented player he is against Liverpool. For a midweek game it seemed the Premier League world stood still. If he manages to stay fit next season and Arsenal bring in a reliable centre-half then I think they will have to be taken very seriously. Comeback: Hull against Arsenal. This one has to get it for the rarity of such an event to happen against one of the "big four" away. You may get this happen once a season if you are lucky. However a close second and rather controversially has to be for me Bolton's brave attempt at a fightback away at Chelsea. Megson is a defensive minded manager, always has been - but that was just something else, and something I have not seen from Bolton in many, many years. Player: Steven Gerrard - Liverpool. Fantastic season for Gerrard, without him and the equally impressive Fernando Torres you have to wonder if the Pool would have even been near the title race. He deserves a massive pat on the back. Manager: Roy Hodgson - Fulham. Fantastic season from the veteren manager. Hodgsons story this season sums up what football is about, individually not many of the players in the side I would argue are world class, however the teamwork and determination shown is why they got to where they are. I was rolling my eyes when he signed players like Dickson Etuhu in the summer - but I was proven wrong, completly wrong. Facepalm moment of the season: Bad Season for the North East. I'm going to combine this one slighty with the relegation of both Middlesbrough and Newcastle. Both sides had managed to establish themselves as Premier League sides and had lengthy spells in the top flight, not many people looked beyond West Brom, Stoke and Hull for heading straight back to the Championship - but these sides both let themselves down drastically. Ironically enough both sides went down for completly opposite reasons, Newcastle didn't have any stability at board level and were trying to play football surrounded by chaos - while with all due respect Middlesbrough had too much stability and stuck behind Gareth Southgate too much - and its not often I say a manager should have been sacked but the warning signs were there from the year before. I hope Gareth proves me wrong and brings the Boro straight back up at the first attempt and re-establishes them as a Premier League side, but im not confident. Second has to go to the Robbie Keane saga, August to Liverpool from Spurs and then moving back come January, lunacy. Team of the Season: GK: Edwin VAN DER SAR - Manchester United DR: Glen JOHNSON - Portsmouth DL: Patrice EVRA - Manchester United DC: Brede HANGELAND - Fulham DC: Nemanja VIDIC - Manchester United MR: Cristiano RONALDO - Manchester United ML: Ashley YOUNG - Aston Villa MC: Steven GERRARD - Liverpool MC: Steven IRELAND - Manchester City ST: Fernando TORRES - Liverpool ST: Nicolas ANELKA - Chelsea
  11. The thing I primarily like and subsiquently "hate" about soccer (when it happens to my team) is the way the majority of the world's leagues are set up with promotions/relegations to differing leagues. I must be honest my knowledge on American sports isn't great. I enjoy NFL now and again and other bits but the lack of a "ladder" structure does put me off a bit, a lot of that is to do with the size of the country I know but I'm sure i'd enjoy a lot more American sports if that dynamic was there. There is nothing more devistating in sport for me than having the difference of one goal (as it was for my team Leicester last season) over a 46 game season costing you a place in that league next season.
  12. I am so glad that when we (Leicester) went into administration we weren't docked anything as that rule didnt exist then, it allowed us to get promoted to the Premier League. Oh well we got our just desserts >_> I hope Darlington will get it together - I don't know much about how the club's finances got so bad but would I be far off by suggesting its partly due to the new stadium? That seems to get every club nowadays.
  13. Crotchduster fucking own, Mammal Sauce is some cool crazy shit.
