    BBC Sound of 2011

There's always more than one stream of sound and most of those DID form part of at least the second most popular type. Certainly Marina, Ellie and others of similar sound/style formed a large presence during festival season. From this year's theres not a single act I think I'm looking forward to seeing or hearing more from sadly. That doesn't mean that some of them won't grow on me, certainly others from years past have done so, but it's not a great sign. Jessie J will be a success at least initially because of the lady gaga ripoff thing but I can't say I'm a fan. For me Naked & Famous are probably the best but that's not a particularly high acclaim.
  2. Karthikayan has TATA sponsorship money, they have backed him since he was a youngster, also word is they think he will be a better ambassador for them in the lead up to the Indian GP (in other words he's more likely to do what he's told and not open his mouth - i.e. be boring as hell). I'm pretty sure his partner will be Liuzzi with Force India actually continuing to pay his wage and having first dibs on him should they feel the need to replace Sutil or De Resta. Where that leaves Hulkenberg right now is anyone's guess.
  3. Spot on really. I like Haye, but they have no real reason to fight the guy, and he hasn't proved anything by beating Harrison. Shit fight, but I didn't pay for it, and the laughs and jokes afterwards were probably worth it alone. Don't think the percentage is really the problem so much as the endless rematch clauses the K brothers want to put in place.
  4. There fixed it In all seriousness, even as a Jack I have to say that Bothroyd is a better player than fair number of strikers brought up from the championship (Beckford, Walters etc.). I'd probably put him among the top 10-12 English strikers at present. 20 years ago a player like him would be a regular for a mid-table prem side.
  5. Just finished watching last night, I liked it, probably more than series 2 but less than sereis 1. Sereis 2 I think they massively overplayed Will, he went from being socially awkward to crossing the line into just being a dick. series 3 he was back in the right place again but they instead went far too far with Jay's lies, especially emphasising it as no-one believes him anymore anyway. It's still one of the best shows on TV though and they should have definately done a 4th series that covered the second half of year 13, they had masses of oppertunity for material there: final exams, uni applications, year 13 ball/prom, Simon and Will wanting to lose it before the year ended etc. But if they've already started on the movie (which will be based on them holidaying in Malia, presumably after those exams). Taking it to Uni would be a step too far though, I could see a spin off following Neil and Jay into the world of an apprenticeship working somewhat but there's no way they could realistically allow for Will or Simon being at the same Uni as each othr never mind have the other two still around. Besides the whole feel of Uni wouldn't really fit.
  6. I had an odd thought: What if Nolan somehow brings back Harvey Dent? ---------- That's the obvious best route for most people. It would have made so much sense for them to claim he was dead while locking him away somewhere after the fall (that he was lieing motionless after that is the only evidence of his death we see) and would be far better than introducing someone new at this stage. The Riddler would always have the problem of being compared to Jim Carey's version, which to my mind was almost perfect. Sure they could take it in a darker direction to make it different but that was exactly the same as what they did with the Joker. The decision to not do 3D is also the correct one, a series like this should flow as best as possible.
  7. Sorry but I don't believe a professional team EVER held back out of sportsmanship. Goal difference can make a big difference at the end of a season so the chance to put in a hatful should never be spurned for reasons like this. I can accept that they would have held back from 50/50 tackles, maybe conserved some energy, pulled off best players and such but a desire to not inflict humiliation was never a reason for any of that.
  8. Shush, it was a good way to get a BTTF reference in there
  9. A lot of stupid opinions on here that seem to be looking at purely clack or white situations as I see with a lot of movie goers. I don't understand the 3D backlash at all to be honest. As far as I'm concerned it's just another facet of a movie like colour (over monochrome) and surround sound was. Some movies will benefit massively from being in 3D, some will even be shot with the 3D effects being the prime concern (the new Saw movie for example), while some will not benefit as much. Frankly a movie like Toy Story could be in black and white with single speaker sound and still be as enjoyable, Avatar probably not. I'm not a huge fan of the extra £1.50 on 3D movies but I understand that thre are extra overheads involved plus the initial investment in the technology to recoup, the price difference will fall in the future as that changes, again I point to surround sound which also cost more to begin with but was ultimately integrated as an option in all screens at no extra cost. In most cases though there is an option, if you dont want to pay extra and your mates do then dont go with them, it's the same as complaining that they want to go to a more expensive resteraunt instead of a MacDonalds drivethrough because they think it's better while you do not. Sure 3D isn't everyone's cup of tea but I don't get why people feel the need to bitch about it.
  10. Really? Considering pop music has been pretty much contrived since the 60's and you're only 19 I'd be surprised. You're not a McFly are you?
  11. If you combines the second half of Two Towers with the first of Return of the King it would have been the best, most fantasticly badass movie in the history of film.
  12. The big difference between this and the Senna/Ratzenberger deaths is that there isn't really anything short of stopping them racing that could have prevented this. Though I agree that in both cases the races should have been stopped along with any subsequent races. I mean how must the MotoGP guys have felt going out there after that knowing fully what had happenned? I hope for their sakes that de Angelis and Redding realise fully that there was nothing that they could have done because this is the sort of thing that could destroy them otherwise.
