The Jared Goff contract might be the worst in football.

They're loaded with bad contracts. The Goff one wouldn't be so bad excpet for all the other guys they've given money to. They never planned ahead and are in cap hell. Even at the worst of the Joe Flacco contract the Ravens had their draft picks and enough cap flexibility to plug holes. It's why they only had 1 losing season during that run.

The Rams have given up their ability to do both which is the inverse of running a successful team. If you trade a 1st for a star that's okay, but make sure you're doing some corresponding deals to load up on 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounders. Make sure you're not paying a ton of money at a position where the drop-off is less than the cost savings for a league-average player.

Looking at his contract structure, it's really not that bad after next season if they really wanted to cut bait. They would eat some dead money but they can still get from under it if they really need/want to. Ideally they'd want to stick it out until at least 2021 where savings would be even greater but not impossible to move on before then. Though I am curious if they talk about restructuring so they can sign Ramsey.

The bigger issue, like you said though, is that they did this while also sacrificing other assets that could help them ease the blow that it may make on the organization by being hampered by the deal.

Rams are in a great place. No draft picks, no cap flexibility, 2 elite teams whose windows are wide open, and the Cardinals who are getting closer and closer to being competitive.

Just what you want to have going on when you're trying to sell season tickets to your new stadium.

Sounds like a team run by Stan Kroenke to me.

Yeah they did set themselves up well to get out from under his contract after just a few years. But, a big issue is that Aaron Donald contract which has an even bigger cap hit than Goff over the next 2 seasons. They have a very easy out with Donald once he hits 30, one they probably won't want to take. So theoretically they'd want to restructure with him first. But if they can't agree to something then you're looking at them turning to Goff and basically committing to him until 2024 in order to keep Ramsey.

Dude, they will look like world beaters against our shitty defense. We made Trubisky look like a stud in the first game against them.

Oh I don’t doubt for a second that the Eagles will make the playoffs.  Their remaining schedule is easy.  They play Miami, Washington, and two against the Giants.  But I don’t see them doing anything once they have to  play a good team in January.

Actually Schefter tweeted earlier that if the Cowboys pattern of only beating losing teams holds true we’ll finish 9-7 and probably win the East.

If Jason Garrett is still the coach of this team next year I’m skipping the season

Eagles will likely have a winning record when they meet Dallas though.

Zero chance of doing it with him too by the looks of it.

I agree with you. This latest loss is due more to shitty performance than it is to bad coaching, but the coaching certainly did not help.
