The 2020 Music Thread

Roster Depth Sicko No. 2

Discovering that Creeper re-surfaced towards the end of last year and have a new album coming out this year was a nice little find the other day. I'm also hoping that the new Delain and ADTR albums are up to scratch. Not as fussed by the upcoming Breaking Benjamin and Evanescence albums but I'll still give them a go once they're released.

The last few years have been a little bit disappointing in terms of new album releases, be it very little to look forward to or looking forward to something which ends up being underwhelming. Let's hope that 2020 breaks that trend.

In case people are interested, the awesome King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have released three live albums for charity over at Bandcamp in the last few days.

After currency conversion and fees, the minimum cost is just £6.67 each and 100% of the revenue goes to charities in Australia dealing with animals injured/displaced by the bush fires.

Here are the links to the three albums, along with the name of the charity that each is linked to.

Paris -

Adelaide -

Nice. They're a cool band, kind of daunting to get into because they have such a large discography. They're playing here in April actually, I may go.

I've not had chance to see them live yet, but it seems an absolute must - one of the most talented and profilific bands of our time, and in their prime too.

As for their (15 album) discography, I'd say start with:

  • Nonagon Infinity
  • I'm In Your Mind Fuzz
  • Infest the Rats' Nest
  • Polgondwanaland

The only new music I am waiting on is from Mushroomhead, who are working on a new album that might be out by April. Will be interesting to hear since they have a new singer. I've seen a few live performance clips with him, and so far he sounds pretty good. Its just weird that the only original member of the band who has been with them the entire time is the drummer. (J Mann is the only other original member, but was out of the band for almost 10 years before rejoining.)

Helloween have reunited with former vocalist Michael Kiske and former guitarist Kai Hansen back in 2016. They have toured the world under the "Pumpkins United" banner for the last 3 years and they are working on a new album right now.

Also the Night Flight Orchestra, the AOR/Classic Rock side project by Soilwork vocalist Björn Strid, will release a new album in February which I can't wait to hear.

Demons & Wizards, the side project by Blind Guardian's Hansi Kürsch and Iced Earth mastermind Jon Schaffer, will finally release their 3rd album next moth as well.

In which Danny Brown makes questionable jokes about Aaron Hernandez and murder, and claims that he used to pull off heists in real life.

Twin Atlantic album is growing on me, Green Day album to listen to later. Couple of other things I need to get around to as well.

Update: Green Day album starts strong and tails off. It's weird. Odd left turn of an album after how well Revolution Radio was received.

Boston Manor singles are very good, new album should slap.
