Summer Transfer Window 2020

What’s this kid like? Is he actually any good?

He's promising, but I dunno. Seems to lack the attitude - and he's also a teeny tiny man-boy who a lot of people think isn't big enough to make it at the top level. He's smaller than Deco by some margin, as a comparison. Nicky Butt, our technical director (I think, our backroom is hard to grasp atm), rates him highly, but he needs to be handled in a certain way to reach his potential.

Hopefully he ends up at say, Dortmund, who can help develop him properly. I think he probably ends up at Inter though, who offered Tahith Chong a big contract that Chong turned down to stay with us.

He's been a "prospect" for years. May never do well. But then again, could sign for a European club now and light things up. Who knows. He's even smaller in size than Lingard as well and has struggled to make any kind of impact. Still wanted him to stay though.

Man Utd have signed Marc Jurado - a supposed wonderkid from Barcelona.

The disintegration of La Masia continues.

I remember reading this 2 months ago.

He was playing for the U-16. Never heard his name before then. They said he was still a few years away from playing n the B squad but they also said he was one of the best on his team. Right back. Apparently scored the game winner against Real Madrid in a U-12 final or something like that.

That's all I know. Could be good, I suppose.

55m-ish. Good deal for both parties. Wonder if one of Gnabry or Coman are on the move then.

Mkhitaryan's loan to Roma has been extended to the end of the season - and it seems he's off on a permanent move there too.

Bad move to be honest - Arsenal could use an attacking midfielder who's better than Ozil.

We absolutely could but in fairness I don't think that player would be Mkhitaryan. He's never really looked consistently good for us - anymore than Ozil has.

RB Leipzig are keeping busy. Signed Benjamin Henrichs on loan, and picked up Hwang Hee-Chan on a permanent deal from Salzburg. Who needs Timo Werner?

I saw Benjamin Henrichs play for the Germany u21s against our u21s and he was phenomenal. Best player on the pitch and he was playing out of position at left back

Really surprised he didn't do well at Monaco but could be a great signing for Leipzig.

€15m option to buy as well, which is a steal potentially. Have to think that they’ve been unable to retain Angelino though, which would be a shame. Hope he gets some game time at City, or a move away. Quality player.

I think it was probably because Monaco was just disintegrating for the entirety of his tenure there.

The Premier League is considering extending the transfer window to allow an extra two weeks’ trading with EFL clubs.

A shareholders’ meeting on Thursday, scheduled to discuss the issues around starting next season, ended without decisions being made. Considerations over when to begin the 2020-21 campaign and what to do about clubs who compete in the Uefa competitions in August are still to be addressed.

Dates for the summer transfer window are also to be agreed, after an expected vote was postponed. There were, however, discussions over the possibility of pushing any closing date to the middle of October, with the extra time reserved solely for domestic transfers with clubs outside the top division.

This topic has been raised in talks between the Premier League and EFL over how to resolve the financial crisis faced by football because of the pandemic.

Transfer trading has been one key way identified by the EFL for its clubs, who have effectively seen their revenues wiped out in recent months, to stay afloat.

Uefa has issued guidance that transfer windows across Europe’s top divisions should close by 5 October, to give clubs in European competition enough time to register players. The Premier League proposal would see that date pushed back to 19 October, the day before the scheduled first round of Champions League fixtures.

Uefa would not be able to enforce any compliance with the 5 October deadline and this would not be the first time the Premier League has adopted a different timeframe to the rest of Europe, having only this season voted to return to end trading in line with the continent after two years of finishing earlier.

The window is expected to open as soon as the season finishes on 26 July.

The meeting also included an update on the government’s working groups regarding the safe return of spectators, though there was no discussion between clubs. There was debate over a possible return for academy fixtures but no agreement was made.

The next shareholders’ meeting is scheduled for 24 July. At this point it seems likely a start date of 12 September will be agreed for the 2020-21 season, although clubs who feature in the final stages of the Champions League and Europa League may be allowed to delay their return.
