2020 Fantasy Football Symposium

Recommended Posts

Hello it is I, fantasy football grand poobah and champion of the B League, here to announce that yes we’re gonna do the fantasy football drafts this year, even though the season will probably turn out to be a disaster.

As usual, I make this thread to get everyone confirmed to be participating again, and ask for suggestions on changes people think we should make.  That’s pretty important this year as odds are things are gonna get weird, so I welcome suggestions.  I’ll start with a suggestion to the members of the B League; git gud n00bz lol THE CHAMP IS HERE

But I digress, should we go for smaller rosters, larger benches? Keep everything the same? Obviously I’ll crank to IR slots up as high as they go.

Who is in?  There’s only like a 98% chance this turns into a complete waste of time!

I'm in for whatever this looks like this year.

Let's just throw in all the extra bullshit this year. 2 QBs, ALL FLEX, IDP, Auction League, just get real crazy with it.

Or start a keeper league, which we should have had for like a decade now.

Crap, I had forgotten all about that. 2020 really didn't give us a chance from the start didn't it?¬†ūüė™

I'm about due for some success, I'd be happy with a B-League ship even if it's in a gas leak year.

In again please and, for the first time ever, I'll actually be around for the whole of the draft due to Bloodstock being postponed.  No more auto drafting Andy Dalton in the middle rounds for me! :D

Specifically two QBs or Superflex?

I think specifically 2 QBs. We play in a 6pt TD league so anyone not playing 2 QBs would be at a big disadvantage. But I’ll put a bunch of options in a poll once we get a league page :)

I'm in. I'm going to throw a wrench into 2 QBs because we likely want as many guys available on waivers as possible given the likelihood of players going down with COVID during the season.

For the record, increasing IR slots make sense to me. 3 or 4 if possible seems sensible.

      EWBFF Dean Spanos League

Greetings friends! Like Frosty the Snowman, I have returned after my annual hiatus now that the season is upon us. Welcome back to another year of the B-League. As usual, it's nice to see most everyone come back. This will be my 7th year running this league and my 8th participating with you all, and it means quite a bit to me to come back to stomp you jabronies every year. (insert reminder that I am the only 3 time league champ). I don't quite have the free time I used to due to med school, so I will keep this intro pretty bare bones. Our league name gimmick this year is shitty owners, and it doesn't get much shittier than the guy who moved his team to a town where they are now the third most popular team behind the Rams and Raiders. Also, do to COVID we will be expanding IR spots to the max and cutting 1 roster spot to ensure a deeper free agency pool. That means the draft will now be 14 rounds instead of 15. Also a reminder that we let an A-leaguer win our league last year, so let's not allow that to happen again. I will be pulling double duty in their league this year to get our revenge!
Quick Notes (cheaply pasted from last year's thread)
      - Draft will last 14 rounds (We are dropping a bench spot this year to make the draft quicker and free agency better. IR spots will be maxed out as well)
      - Order is obviously snake-style, meaning if Maxx for example picks last in round 1 then he picks first in round 2.
      - I will keep the draft results updated in this post. Make sure you look over it before making a pick to avoid picking someone already taken.
      - We're playing under 1 PPR rules. Passing TDs are worth 7 points a piece, meaning QBs are a little more valuable
      - Roster consists of: 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 3 FLEX(RB/WR/TE), 1 K, 1 DEF, 5 Bench Spots.
      - Waivers will be rolling and reset weekly with lowest record getting top dibs
      - Draft will start TODAY
      - Each person gets 12 hours to make their pick. Time limit may be shortened if we run too slowly towards the later rounds. Try to move quickly.
      - Be a pal and tag the person who picks after you so they know it's their turn.
      - I'll be lenient on late picks in the first couple of rounds, but as we move along if you don't have a list you're getting Yahoo's best available at a position of need, with the option to correct the pick if you make it back before the next person.
      - If you think you might get busy, be asleep, etc, please send me a list of players you want, in order. This makes everything run so much smoother and prevents you from missing a pick. I will do my best to PM you guys when you're up but no guarantees, so please consider giving me a list. Lists will be critical to finishing the draft on time as we get deeper and time limits shorten.

A plague is upon us!  With that in mind, it was an easy choice for naming rights this year, we decided to go with the men who have been plagues to fan bases for years.  Also, the men most likely to do something to stupidly endanger our fair season.  Or, the men who are stupidly pushing to have a dangerous season in the first place.  It's bad all around!  Just like Mike Brown's ownership of the Bengals.  Cheap, poorly run and stupidly nepotistic, Brown's Bengals haven't done anything of note in the past 20 years besides piss of Carson Palmer and knock the Ravens out of the playoff once.  And in the 10 years before that, they did even less.  But check out them gams!

Last year the league was won by Livid!  He won the Lamar Jackson lottery, which is to say he was smart enough to draft him.  He also picked up Michael Thomas, who combined with Lamar Jackson made a lethal tandem that could run up the score in a hurry.  They slapped the ever-loving shit out of my team in the championship game, denying me of my chance to be the first ever Undisputed EWBFF Champion, after I successfully took down the B-League.  Speaking of the B-League, in the interest of fairness and having 12 teams (mostly that one) we're giving B-League commissioner HC a chance to play in the A-League.  Will he wilt under the pressure of not having fractional point scoring?  Will we even make it past week 8?  How many Raiders will DMN draft this year?  Let's find out!

I'm still firmly anti-TE position for a 12 team league, there was again a massive discrepancy between the top two scoring TEs and the 11th and 12th spots.  So we're just doing 2 RB/WR/TE flex spots this time around.  Draft as many TEs as you want, or don't want.  Also we've got like 8 IR spots, so you don't have to drop guys who catch Covid, unless your team is horribly unlucky in that regard.

      1 QB
      1 RB
      2 WR
      2 RB/WR/TE
      1 Kicker
      1 Defense
      6 Bench

Meacon provided this draft order, direct all complaints towards him.  @livid you're up first champ.  Wow so unfair, thanks Meac

ALL HAIL MAXX, KING OF THE FANTASY LEAGUE.

Ahem.  Welcome friends, to the 15th season of the EWBFF A-League.  This year's theme is terrible coaching and we've gone with the best of the worst, and son of one of the best Don Shula, David Shula.  He lost 50 games faster than any other head coach, and was ran out of the league entirely, and forced to instead take over running the Shula family steakhouses.  Lets really dive into the theme this year and have whoever comes in last go eat a meal at the worst reviewed steakhouse in their city.  Or get a job at Sizzler.

Anyways, we have accomplished the rare feat of having everyone actually return this year, good job everyone, a few more seasons of that and I might actually be convinced to make this a keeper league.  But alas, instead we stick with our normal routine of purging our rosters and starting fresh.  Don't worry Lowerdeck, Le'Veon Bell can't hurt you this year.  Well, that's not true, he is a Jet now, disappointment is sort of their brand.  Good luck to all of you.

Major changes to our roster positions this year comes from our hotly contested TE debate.  Some wanted them shot into the sun, some wanted them to remain intact as a reminder of the halcyon days of the position.  We kind of compromised, so this year you'll be drafting...
      1 QB
      1 RB
      1 WR
      2 WR/RB
      2 WR/TE
      1 K
      1 Def
      5 Bench spots

There you go, draft as many tight ends as you want or don't want and start as many as you'd like, provided the number you would like to start is 2.

      EWBFF HUE JACKSON LEAGUE 2K19

Hey guys! That time of the year again. I don't have time atm to write up my usual detailed recap, but everyone should remember

      A) I won the league last season (third time)
      and
      B) Berober's team name is now HC's Bitches for this season! Although, if he defeats me in a game, I shall release him of his obligation. ūüėõ¬†
As for our avatar, I really don't need a picture. We all know Hue Jackson was booty juice as a coach.
Quick Notes (cheaply pasted from last year's thread)
      - Draft will last 15 rounds (We are dropping a bench spot this year to make the draft quicker and free agency better. To make up for this, I will add an IR spot to the league)

Lists will be critical to finishing the draft on time as we get deeper and time limits shorten.
I figure we'll stick with the classic EWBFF rules, 7 pt TDs and TEs, but 6+ of you object to that before the draft begins, we can alter either one.
