World Wrestling Federation makes new signings, Plus more!

By: Davey Hewey

The World Wrestling Federation has announced that several wrestlers have been signed. "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Matt Borne, Kamala, Taka Michinoku, Chris Davis, Darnell Porter and Donalbain have all been signed. With the 1997 Royal Rumble nearing, The World Wrestling Federation decided to bring in a legend, A old fan favorite and a gentle giant into things. "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Matt Borne and Kamala will be entering the 1997 Royal Rumble. They're all one time deals, But things could change. "Cowboy" Bob Orton will be used as the legend and old timer in the Royal Rumble. The man from Kansas City, Kansas has said to be looking forward to being in the Royal Rumble match for the first time in his career. The forty six year old legend has been training for this since he got called back in December by Vince McMahon who asked him if he wanted to be in the 1997 Royal Rumble match. Bob Orton has feuded with legends like "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Bob Backlund, Don Muraco. Orton was also apart of the first ever Wrestlemania event when he was managing Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff against Mr. T and Hulk Hogan. Can the oldest man in the Royal Rumble match win?

Matt Borne is another man making his return to the World Wrestling Federation. Borne played Doink The Clown in it's early days and he's arguably, The best man to have played Doink The Clown. Borne will also be playing Doink The Clown in the World Wrestling Federation for the first time in years. If you remember back to the original Doink The Clown, You'll return that Doink was a evil clown. And most people consider him to have been at his best as a evil clown. And that's the way the WWF is looking to bring him in as. It'll be interesting to see if Doink will have any of his old tricks up his sleeve for the 1997 Royal Rumble. And could this be Doink's Rumble? Could Doink The Clown be the one who wins the 1997 Royal Rumble and challenges for the World Wrestling Federation Championship at Wrestlemania 13?

The third man who will be returning at the Royal Rumble is Kamala. A man who hasn't wrestled with the World Wrestling Federation in four years. Most fans remember Kamala as the man who feuded with Undertaker and wrestled in the first ever coffin match. Kamala will be entering the 1997 Royal Rumble and you got to wonder if the Ugandan giant will make an impact in the Royal Rumble. Right now, It's a one time deal but if Kamala wins the Royal Rumble, Then he's main eventing Wrestlemania 13.

Japanese star, Taka Michinoku signed a written deal with the World Wrestling Federation. The twenty three year old star is being brought into the World Wrestling Federation as apart of the Light Heavyweight division. Michinoku will be debuting at the Royal Rumble during the Royal Rumble. Taka signed a two year deal worth about $127,000 per month. Taka Michinoku will join the likes of Brian Christopher, Chavo Guerrero, Scott Taylor, Scott Putski etc in the Light Heavyweight division. Taka Michinoku could also be a very big impact player during the Royal Rumble match.

IPB Image

Charismatic Chris Davis impressed World Wrestling Federation officials back in October during a dark match against Bob Holly. Davis is only nineteen years of age. He comes from Venice, Italy. Davis competed for several promotions and he even fought former ECW World Champion, Taz on TV in a squash match. Davis wrestled some big World Wrestling Federation superstars like Bob Holly, Jacobs, The Hardy Boyz and even Scott Putski! But it wasn't until his match with Bob Holly in October that caught the eyes of the road agents. Davis kept touring with the WWF with no contract. A offer was made to him this past December. Davis has been sent down to USWA making him the youngest WWF Superstar on the roster. Davis is expected to debut at USWA within a few days. He was trained by WCW star Fit Finley, So you can expect big things from this kid.

Name: Chris Davis

Weight: 250lbs

Height: 6' 3

Finishing Move: Max Impact and End Of The Line (Frog Splash)

Hometown: Venice, Italy

Debut: June, 1996

Contract: 24 months

Wage: $26,000

IPB Image

Darnell Porter was trained by Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman. Porter is a young Light Heavyweight star with alot of potential. The twenty two year old star from LA started his career in the now out of business LATMF. Porter wrestled big names such as Rob Van Dam, Little Guido and Nova. Porter even had a small feud with Little Guido. Porter was sidelined with a injury in November, But returned in December. He worked several house show matches with Albert and really impressed some of the top road agents. Porter has been known to take some high risks in his matches and has impressed some of the best bumpers in the WWF. Porter was offered a USWA contract this past December. He's currently feuding with Gangrel. When he is called up to the main roster, Will Darnell Porter make an impact?

Name: Darnell Porter

Weight: 212lbs

Height: 6’2

Finishing Move: 450 Splash and Play Of The Day

Hometown: Los Angeles, California

Debut: September, 1996

Contract: 24 months

Wage: 31,000

IPB Image

Another man trained by Fit Finley has made his way into the World Wrestling Federation. This man has had the World Wrestling Federation officials watching him ever since May. Jim Ross said numerous times that this hoss could make an impact in the World Wrestling Federation. Unlike Davis and Porter, Donalbain hasn't wrestled for too many big promotions in the United States. He mostly worked in England and it wasn't until the fall where he worked a few more dark matches for the WWF under the request of Jim Ross. Donalbain also signed a contract this past December before In Your House on the 15th. Donalbain has also been sent to USWA and isn't expected to be called up anytime soon. Will he make an impact in the World Wrestling Federation?

Name: Donalbain

Weight: 295lbs

Height: 6'3

Finishing Move: Powerbomb and Texas Cloverleaf

Hometown: Paris, France

Debut: April, 1996

Contract: 24 months

Wage: 54,000

It's the first event of the new year. 1997 will open in a big way tonight on Friday Night Mayhem. We got the biggest main event in Friday Night Mayhem history taking place tonight. Sycho Sid goes one on one with Bret Hart. Bret Hart came down to the ring during Sid's match with Scott Hall on Monday Night Raw and nailed Hall with a steel chair. This lead to Sid Powerbombing Scott Hall and winning the WWF Championship. Or so we thought. Another referee ran down from the back and told the referee what happened and the decision was reversed! Sid snapped and Powerbombed "The Hitman"! Tonight these two fan favorites are gonna get it on in the main event. And which man will come out as the winner?

One of the greatest Superstars in the history of the World Wrestling Federation will be making his return for one night only at the Royal Rumble. Kamala! Tonight we understand Kamala will be at Madison Square Garden! Many fans remember the Ugandan giant as one of the best Superstars to set foot inside a WWF ring. Tonight he'll be interviewed. Has the big man learned how to talk? If so, What will he have to say about the Royal Rumble?

We'll also be taking a look at a young Superstar who will debut in the 1997 Royal Rumble match, Taka Michinoku. It'll be interesting to see what the Japanese star has in store for the fans of the World Wrestling Federation.

And Owen Hart will be teaming up with his brother in law, British Bulldog to take on "The Wildman" Marc Mero and Ahmed Johnson in tag team action. All four men are entered in the 1997 Royal Rumble match, And this should be a very interesting match up.

Plus, Plenty of matches featuring some of the best WWF Superstars! Including Hunter Hearst Helmsley, The Quebecers and PG-13!

Announcers: Jonathan Coachman and Dok Hendrix

Voice Over- The World Wrestling Federation, For over fifty years the revolutionary force in sports entertainment.

Friday Night Mayhem comes on the air with a video package showing great World Wrestling Federation action. When the video ends, We're taken inside the arena where pyro goes off from the rafters and from the entrance way. We then head over to our announce position where Jonathan Coachman and Dok Hendrix are standing by. They are very excited and hype up tonight's big show.

The Quebecers Vs. D'Lo Brown and Scorpio

Scorpio has returned from being suspended last month after missing a photo shoot. The crowd was into the match big time here, As The Quebecers are one of the most hated tag teams in the World Wrestling Federation today. Jacques and Pierre started off with a quick hug, Getting booed by the crowd. The only person in the arena who liked their hugging was Dok Hendrix. Scorpio and D'Lo started off with alot of quick offense, Surprising the former three time World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions. At one point during the match both Scorpio and D'Lo came out of the top rope with dives to both Pierre and Jacques! The Quebecers finally took control of the match after hitting D'Lo with a double back elbow to the face. The Quebecers isolated Brown and used a few double team maneuvers on D'Lo. Including a double flapjack which sent D'Lo right into the ropes. D'Lo was able to make the tag to Scorpio after moving out of the way from Pierre's Cannonball. Scorpio came into the ring and took down both Jacques and Pierre with drop kicks. Scorpio even connected with a tornado DDT to Jacques for a very close near fall. The ending of the match came with Scorpio and Pierre fighting in the ring while Jacques and D'Lo brawled on the outside. Scorpio went up top and went for the Diss That Don't Miss, But Pierre moved out of the way! Jacques sent D'Lo to the steel steps and came into the ring. The Quebecers took out Scorpio with a double neck breaker and Pierre covered Scorpio to score the win. The Quebecers celebrated their win after the match was over while D'Lo helped Scorpio to the back.

It's PARTY TIME!

A "earlier today" video begins to air. It shows some of the staff of the World Wrestling Federation having lunch in the cafeteria and relaxing. Suddenly, Music begins to play real loudly. It's the music of "Party Boy" Marty Jannetty! Marty Jannetty busts through the door of the cafeteria!

Marty Jannetty- Party boy is back! Yooooooooow! It's been months baby! Months since the WWF has had wild Marty around! But you know what they say, Partying comes first! And Marty is not the only one who's back daddy! Van "Party Time" Hammer is also here!

Hammer comes into the cafeteria with a boom box which is playing Marty's theme. He high fives Marty and gets on top of a lunch table and starts dancing.

Marty Jannetty- But wait a minute! That's not all! There's someone missing! This man is a real party animal! He parties almost as much as old Marty! He's crazy! He's always partying! This man party so much that he's been banned from three countries! Marty met this man while partying down in Mexico! This man is wild! And he's back in the World Wrestling Federation! He's Koko B. Party! Yeah!

Koko B. Ware comes through the door and also high fives Marty. He gets on top of a table and shoves the workers lunches aside and begins dancing around.

Marty Jannetty- See, It isn't about worrying about the Royal Rumble or the WWF Championship. There's something bigger than that! Partying! That's what the WWF has been needing since I took off! Look at how wild things have gotten! And "Party Boy" will be at the 1997 Royal Rumble to show everyone how to party! That's right! I might not be apart of the Royal Rumble match, But I will show up during it and play my music! And dance baby! Marty Jannetty and his Party Squad are back. And every WWF show leading to the Royal Rumble will see us partying everywhere! Because it's like Kiss said, We're hooligans! And we're gonna rock n roll all night and party everyday! And Marty will be in Montreal to party with all my Canadian fans!

The video ends with Jannetty, Koko and Hammer dancing around with their music playing while some of the staff look uncomfortable.

Koko B. Ware gained overness from this segment.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs. John Bradshaw

This is a non title match. Hendrix said it was a non title match due to Helmsley having to defend the title on Monday Night Raw against Mark Henry. The crowd was into this match and booed Helmsley every chance they got. John Bradshaw dominated the beginning of this one, Tossing Helmsley around the ring a few times and sending Helmsley out to the floor with a clothesline. John Bradshaw and Hunter Hearst Helmsley got into a brawl at the ringside area with Bradshaw beating the living hell out of Helmsley and sending Helmsley face first into the steel ring post. Bradshaw kept beating down Helmsley inside the ring as well. Helmsley was able to duck the Clothesline From Texas and score with the high knee to Bradshaw's face for a two count. Helmsley used a few suplexes and started going to work on Bradshaw's legs. Helmsley wrapped Bradshaw's legs a few times around the ring post and eventually locked the large hoss into a figure four leg lock. But Bradshaw would not give it up. Bradshaw looked like he was going to make the comeback after catching Helmsley with a boot to the face, But Helmsley grabbed the ropes with his arm breaking up the count. Bradshaw ended up making the comeback and again he came very close to winning this non title match. Bradshaw went for his Clothesline From Texas, But Helmsley ducked and planted Bradshaw with a kick to the gut. One Pedigree later, And Helmsley scored the three count. Hunter Hearst Helmsley took the Intercontinental Championship and did his bowing pose with it, Jonathan Coachman asked if there was anyone who would be able to beat Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Scott Putski, Doug Furnas and Phillip LaFon Vs. Scott Taylor and PG-13

The action was nonstop here in this six men tag team match up. Scott Putski is making his return after being out with a one month injury in December. PG-13 came down to the ring and did a rap making fun of mostly Jonathan Coachman. This one was a well worked six men tag team match with six of the best wrestlers in the World Wrestling Federation today. Scott Putski was able to hit a big plancha to Scott Taylor on the outside, But fell victim to a moonsault from Wolfie D, Who came all the way from the top turnbuckle to the outside! Furnas and LaFon took out both Wolfie D and JC Ice with a pair of German suplexes in the ring! The heel side finally took control after Scott Taylor caught Phillip LaFon with a high impact DDT. PG-13 and Taylor triple teamed LaFon behind the referee's back several times and wouldn't allow him anywhere near Furnas and Putski. LaFon was able to tag in Putski after taking out Wolfie D with a devastating enziguri kick. Putski came into the ring and started to clean house. Furnas and LaFon ended up on the outside with PG-13. Scott Putski and Scott Taylor were left alone in the ring. Putski started getting all rilled up and kicked Taylor's butt. Putski took out Taylor with a powerslam and went up top. Putski came off the top with a high cross body block to Taylor and scored the one, two, three.

Things are going to change around here!

We go to the interview area where we see Michael Cole standing by with Bob Holly.

Bob Holly came down to the ring with a sour look on his face. He didn't have the stupid smile on his face and jumped Neidhart right from the get go. Bob Holly's look has changed a bit, His outfit doesn't have the racing stripes and he's cut his hair short. This match wasn't pretty, But the crowd was somewhat into it. Holly beat down Neidhart and used plenty of chokes and really risked getting disqualified. They went to the outside where Holly sent Neidhart right into the steel ring post and then rammed Neidhart's head time and time again into the steel steps! Chris Kanyon was shown watching this match from the top of the stage. Holly continued working over Neidhart and even cursed at the referee! Neidhart tried to make the comeback several times, But Holly kept using illegal tactics to take over the match. Neidhart was finally able to make the comeback after catching Holly with a big time powerslam. This was when Kanyon started walking towards the ring. Neidhart called for the Hart Attack, But Kanyon tripped him without the referee seeing it! This allowed Holly to connect with a big drop kick to Neidhart and score the win. After the match ended, Kanyon came into the ring and stared down Holly. Both men then hugged! Neidhart got up, And was attacked by both men! Neidhart was left down and out by this attack from both Kanyon and Holly! Hendrix was laughing, Saying that Holly has finally seen the light. COMMERCIAL BREAK

Interview with Bret Hart

We go backstage where we see Michael Cole standing by with Bret "The Hitman" Hart.

Michael Cole- I am standing by with Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Tonight you'll be taking on Sycho Sid in the main event. But lets talk about Monday Night Raw. You were attacked from behind by Scott Hall as you came into the arena. Then during the main event, You hit Hall with a chair and it looked like Sid became the new champion. But that wasn't the case. Another referee came down from the back and the decision was reversed. Sid then Powerbombed you. Bret Hart, Many people feel that you cost Sid the chance to be the World Wrestling Federation Champion. How do you feel about that?

Bret Hart- Michael, I am sorry that I got involved. My anger got the best out of me. I am sorry for costing Sid the title. I don't think Sid made the right decision by Powerbombing me. But tonight he'll have to own up to his mistakes by getting in the ring with me. And Sid, After I beat Scott Hall at the Royal Rumble and take back my World Wrestling Federation Championship, You'll get the first shot the next night on Monday Night Raw. You deserve another title shot and I know Scott Hall isn't man enough to fight you one more time. So I'll give you the title shot on the next night after I beat Scott Hall at the Royal Rumble. And Sid, I won't be a one day champion.

Michael Cole- Speaking of Scott Hall, You and him will be meeting at the Royal Rumble for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. Scott Hall has been one of the greatest WWF Champions in quite some time. How do you plan on beating this man for the title on January 19th?

Bret Hart- I'm going to enter the Royal Rumble and out wrestle Scott Hall. I'm going into my country of Canada on January 19th. I'm going into Montreal to challenge for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. And you can bet that I am not going to lose. Scott Hall better be ready for the Royal Rumble. I'm going into my country of Canada and I will be victorious. Scott Hall has held the WWF Championship for way too long. It deserves to be around the waist of a hero. Not a punk like Scott Hall. Scott Hall doesn't care about the fans, All he cares about is himself and the WWF Championship. That's not the kind of man we need as the WWF Champion. Scott Hall is no good and he's gonna be stopped at the Royal Rumble. I don't care how badly he'll take it to me, I'm going to beat him. I'm going to make him tap out to the Sharpshooter and become a four time World Wrestling Federation Champion. Scott Hall, Enjoy your final days with the WWF Championship. I am the excellence of execution and you will find out why on January 19th at the Royal Rumble.

Michael Cole- Any thoughts on your match with Sycho Sid tonight?

Bret Hart- Sid, I already apologized for what happened on Monday Night Raw. Tonight we're going to step into that ring and I will defeat you. And after I'm done with you, I'm taking the WWF Championship and I will go to Wrestlemania 13 and defend it against whoever wins the Royal Rumble. And I'm going to keep my title and prove to everyone that I am the best there is, The best there was and the best that there ever will be.

Michael Cole- Fans, It's up next! Bret "The Hitman" Hart takes on Sycho Sid! It should be quite the battle! Who's going to win this match up?

Koko B. Ware...

Van Hammer...

Marty!?!?!?

CAN YOU SAY DYNASTY!?

All kidding aside, it was a very solid show, and it's nice to see the guy I picked for you to sign is finally on the main roster, and with Marty no less! Sid/Bret could make a three way for the world title, or so seems to be your direction.

The Doink stuff was funny, but overall the show seemed a little too like you were "Running through the motions" you know? Perhasps it was the time off.

The party squad makes it all good though.
