I normally don't read indy diaries because I don't know most of the guys and it's hard for me to envision anything, but being from Michigan originally, your caught my attention. I started to read it and just kinda kept on going until suddenly, I was reading a second anniversary show. I know you want criticism's and things to improve on, but truly, it's the first indy diary I can remember enjoying. My favorite match thus far has been B-Boy vs. Alex Shelley even though it wasn't a choice in the awards.

I loved writing that match but I tried to kayfabe it as the company so I didn't want to promote Shelley too much since he had left and the other matches were more important in the scheme of things.

Thanks for the feedback. The card will be up tomorrow for the next show and the show should be up by Thursday.

The Third Year of Action

www.smwawrestling.com

April 23, 2006

We have just come off a great show to start our third year of action and we hope to continue that going on this year.

We do have some bad news though. Jimmy Rave has entered rehab for a problem with alcoholism. We hope he gets over his problems soon and can return to action and wrestling which is what he does best.

Our next show is being called Name of the Game and will be in Ypsilanti on May 15. So far we have B-Boy signed to defend the SMWA Championship against Petey Williams. We also have Black Dragon returning to action in the SMWA after being injured over a year ago and he will be taking on an unknown opponent at this time.

Name of the Game Card

www.smwawrestling.com

May 1, 2006

We are two weeks away from Name of the Game in Ypsilanti, Michigan and we have a card lined up for it.

B-Boy vs. Petey Williams (SMWA Championship)

Petey Williams has earned a title shot due to his recent winning streak. However he has a tough challenge in the stiff champion, B-Boy. These two will clash in what should be an epic match.

Youthanazia vs. Danny Daniels & Austin Aries (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Daniels and Aries teamed up at Boiling Point and they have been given a title shot. Their inexperience could be their failing as they take on the very experienced team of Youthanazia who have had several impressive title defenses.

Johnny Spade vs. Bobby Quance

N8 Mattson vs. Roderick Strong

Deranged vs. Vito Thomaselli

Black Dragon vs. Hydro

Black Dragon returns to action after suffering a serious neck injury and he has a tough challenge as he takes on Hydro who has been on a roll lately.

I said the show would be up Thursday but if you're lucky it might be Wednesday.

Name of the Game (Ypsilanti)

May 15, 2006

Announcer: Mike Patterson

Color Commentator: Brian Guppie

Patterson: “Welcome to SMWA’s Name of the Game! I’m Mike Patterson and beside me on commentary is Brian Guppie. We have a great show lined up with a big main event as B-Boy takes on Petey Williams.”

Guppie: “Youthanazia will defend the tag team titles against the team of Danny Daniels and Austin Aries. We also have Johnny Spade taking on Bobby Quance and N8 Mattson challenging Roderick Strong.”

Patterson: “Deranged will face off against Vito Thomaselli and in our first match Black Dragon returns from a neck injury against Hydro.”

Guppie: “And Hydro is going to be a bad opponent for him because he uses a lot of attacks that target the neck and he’s going to go after that weakened body part on Dragon.”

Segment 1: Black Dragon vs. Hydro

The two men square off and they go for a lockup and Dragon sweeps the legs out from Hydro then drops an elbow on him and goes for a cross armbreaker but Hydro escapes before he can tighten the hold. The two men face off again and Hydro gets Dragon with a side headlock then takes him down to the mat and turns it into a crossface but Dragon gets a foot on the ropes and breaks the hold. The two men get to their feet and face off to applause from the crowd. Dragon extends his hand and Hydro slaps it away. Dragon spins around and locks Hydro with a spinning heel kick. Dragon gets a burst of offense and hits Hydro with a backdrop driver that gets a near fall. Dragon whips Hydro into the ropes and goes for a lariat but Hydro ducks it and takes him down with a reverse DDT and holds onto the head then spins Dragon around into a dragon clutch. Dragon slowly crawls forward and grabs the ropes to break the hold. He gets to his feet holding his neck. Hydro takes control of the match as he slams a forearm into the back of Dragon’s neck. Hydro does some nice work on the neck of Dragon then grabs him for the tiger suplex and slams him hard down to the mat. Hydro bridges and gets a three count.

Winner: Hydro (8:41)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 56 CR: 34 MQ: 78

Patterson: “Hydro went right after the weak neck of Dragon and took him out quickly when he did that. As soon as Dragon can get that neck back into shape he’ll be able to take a lot more punishment in the ring.”

Guppie: “Against most opponents it might not have been such a big factor but Hydro likes to work the neck and that just left too many possibilities open for Hydro to pass up.”

Patterson: “So true. It’s good to see Black Dragon back in action though and I can’t wait to see more from him. Up next Deranged takes on Vito Thomaselli.”

Guppie: “This should be a good match up. Deranged has proved himself as a tag team wrestler and now he has a chance to prove himself against a former SMWA Champion in Vito.”

Segment 2: Deranged vs. Vito Thomaselli

The bell rings and Deranged charges with a spinning heel kick but Vito ducks it and Deranged hits the mat. He gets to his feet and Vito drops him with a stiff lariat. Vito goes for a suplex but Deranged blocks it then delivers a stiff snap suplex then floats over for a cover and gets a one count. Both men get to their feet and Deranged goes for a kick to the midsection but Vito catches the foot. Deranged gets his balance then delivers an enziguri to the side of Vito’s head. Deranged bounces off the ropes and drops an elbow to the chest of Vito. Deranged pulls him to his feet then whips him into the ropes and hits him with a backbody drop. Deranged starts to get on a roll with the offense then goes to the top and jumps off with a crossbody block but Vito catches him and takes him over with a big powerslam and makes the cover for a two count. Vito gains the momentum after that move and starts taking it to Deranged with some stiff forearm shots. Vito continues on the offense and slows the match down as he goes to the mat with some nice stretches on Deranged. Deranged manages to get out of the holds though and escape a lot of damage. Vito nails Deranged with a chop but Deranged fires back with his own chop and then the two men start going to town on each other. Vito hits Deranged with a chop that sends him reeling but Deranged takes a step forward and clocks Vito with a spinning front kick.

Vito gets to his feet and Deranged spikes him with a DDT for a two count. Deranged climbs up to the top rope and jumps off with a crossbody block and takes Vito down and gets another two count. Deranged continues his offensive with some cruiserweight type moves. Deranged takes Vito into the corner and hits him with a few chops then tries to take him out of the corner with a tornado DDT but Vito stays up then sends Deranged into the corner with a release northern lights suplex that drops Deranged on his head. Vito pulls Deranged to his feet and plants him with a brainbuster that gets him a two count. Vito pulls Deranged up again and hits him with a northern lights bomb then makes the cover for another two count. Vito gets frustrated then whips Deranged into the ropes. He tosses Deranged up off the ropes and Deranged comes down with a hurrincanranna that sends Vito scrambling into the corner. Deranged charges and hits a clothesline then sets Vito on the top rope. Deranged goes for a hurrincanranna but Vito catches him then shifts him onto his shoulders in a fireman’s carry. Vito jumps off and drops Deranged with a Death Valley Driver off the top rope. Vito drags himself over for the cover and gets a three count.

Winner: Vito Thomaselli (14:34)

Notes: ***1/2

OA: 72 CR: 51 MQ: 93

Patterson: “What an impressive match between those two men. Deranged may not have won the match but he went toe to toe with a former champion and took him to the limit.”

Guppie: “Vito was really getting frustrated that he couldn’t put Deranged down and he managed to catch a lucky break in order to do that.”

Segment 3: It’s Not Over

N8 Mattson runs down to the ring then slides in. He picks Vito up and drops him with a TKO. He slides to the outside then grabs a chair from the fans. He sets the chair across Vito’s body then climbs to the top rope and jumps off with a legdrop that slams the chair down on Vito’s face. N8 gets to his feet and takes the mic from the ring announcer.

Mattson: “I thought about what you said at the last show after you beat me. I thought about what if the Lord has forsaken me? But I rejected those thoughts. I knew that I was not imagining things and that’s when my Lord spoke to me. He told me those matches against you had been a test of my faith and that I have come out with a stronger faith than I went in with. I was appointed with a mission of teaching you a lesson and this time I will have his backing behind me. This time there will be no more Vito Thomaselli coming out on top! This has been a piece of your punishment Vito. There will be more, much more. You can not imagine the pain that you will endure at my hands. What we did at the anniversary show will be nothing compared to this. Tables and chairs are just the beginning. I know you saw what I did to Nate Webb. Barbed wire and light tubes Vito! That is what this is leading to. That is going to be your punishment! You have erred and you will be punished accordingly!”

OA: 62

Patterson: “What a heinous attack by N8 Mattson! He ran down here and attacked a tired Vito Thomaselli then attacked him with a chair.”

Guppie: “He feels he has a divine right and he’s going to do whatever he wants. However he may want to worry about Vito later because right now he has to take on Roderick Strong.”

Patterson: “That’s not going to be an easy match either. N8 Mattson is a former champion but Roderick Strong packs a brutal offense and he’s going to be pushed to his limits as was Vito in his match.”

Segment 4: N8 Mattson vs. Roderick Strong

The two men stand off in the ring and Mattson goes for a lockup but Strong just smashes him in the side of the head with a forearm then lights him up with some hard chops across the chest. Strong keeps Mattson on the defensive as he follows up with an STO across his knee. Strong goes for an STF on the mat but Mattson avoids it and the two men struggle on the mat for holds but neither man can get anything and they break up and both men get to their feet to some applause. Strong moves forward as the aggressor this time but Mattson catches him with a dropkick that sends him to the mat. He gets to his feet and Mattson comes charging off the ropes and catches him with a reverse bulldog. He makes a cover and gets a short two count. The two men struggle back and forth with trading moves and covers but neither man gaining a distinctive advantage. Strong looks to be gaining the upperhand when he drops Mattson with a stiff backbreaker but Mattson rolls out of the ring and calls for a timeout. Strong won’t have any of it and charges for a suicide dive but Mattson sees it coming and cuts him off with a european uppercut as he gets through the ropes. Strong drops to the outside and Mattson puts the boots to him and then slams him into the guardrail. Mattson slides into the ring and the ref starts a ten count but Strong rolls into the ring at eight to break the count.

Mattson pulls Strong to his feet and goes for a TKO but Strong slides down his back then drops Mattson across his knee with a reverse DDT. Strong pulls Mattson up still in the rear facelock then lifts him up and hits him with a reverse vertical suplex. Strong rolls him over and gets a two count. Strong continues to work on the back of Mattson and even gets a nice boston crab on but Mattson manages to crawl to the ropes to break it up. Strong goes for a straight jacket piledriver but Mattson counters it with a backbody drop. Strong gets to his feet and Mattson plants him with a DDT then climbs up to the top rope and hits a guillotine legdrop but the impact hurts his back. Mattson slowly drags himself over to make a cover and only gets a two count. Mattson pulls Strong to his feet and Strong breaks free of his grip then drills him with some chops and Mattson’s chest turns red. Mattson fights back against the pain and clobbers Strong with a forearm then grabs him and drops him with a TKO. Mattson makes the cover and gets a three count and lays on the mat after his victory.

Winner: N8 Mattson (12:43)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 66 CR: 45 MQ: 88

Patterson: “N8 Mattson took some of Roderick Strong’s best offense and still managed to walk away the winner.”

Guppie: “He hasn’t walked out of the ring just yet. Roderick’s offense took quite a toll on him especially those chops which are leaving a big red mark on his chest.”

Patterson: “Roderick does pack a wallop behind those chops. Up next Johnny Spade takes on Bobby Quance. Spade is getting a shot on his own here since Halo has left the SMWA.”

Guppie: “And he’s got a stiff challenge to go one on one with Bobby Quance who can mix all different styles up and come out with a great offense against any opponent.”

Segment 5: Johnny Spade vs. Bobby Quance

The two men start the match with a quick exchange of cruiserweight moves and go through a quick pinfall submission to start then get up and do an indy respect pose to a decent applause from the crowd. The two men shake hands and start to circle each other. They go into a lockup and Quance goes behind with a hammerlock but Spade hits a back elbow then goes behind with his own hammerlock. Quance ducks under and goes behind Spade and gets him with a rear waistlock then picks him up and slams him down to the mat. The two go through a nice mat wrestling sequence and Quance ends up with a fujiwara armbar that almost gets Spade to tap before he manages to get a foot on the rope. Spade gets to his feet rubbing his left arm as Quance gets to his feet with a cocky grin. Quance moves in and Spade lights him up with a chop then a flurry of forearms. Spade bounces off the ropes then clobbers Quance with a lariat. Spade runs to the ropes and comes off with a lionsault that gets a two count on Quance. Spade pulls Quance to his feet and Quance grabs Spade’s left arm and hits him with a divorce court. Quance goes for the fujiwara but Spade spins out of it and meets Quance with a forearm and quickly gets to his feet. Quance comes in and Spade meets him with a boot to the face then drops him with a brainbuster.

Spade goes on the offensive for a short time after that and gets a couple of nearfalls. Spade goes for another suplex but Quance smacks the injured left arm then grabs it and twists it with a wristlock. Spade goes down to one knee then fights up with the cheers of the crowd. He takes Quance over with a monkey flip but Quance keeps the arm trapped and Spade yells as his arm impacts the mat. Quance rolls to his feet and turns the wristlock into a keylock and forces Spade’s shoulders down and gets several two counts in a row. Quance adds some pressure to the hold but Spade manages to turn enough to land a couple of kicks to the back of Quance’s head and break the hold. Quance gets to his feet and Spade trips him up. Spade climbs up to the top rope then comes off with a missile dropkick but jars his arm on impact. Spade slowly gets to his feet and Quance comes forward and goes for a divorce court but Spade trips him and sends him to the mat. Spade picks him up and drops him with a double underhook suplex then climbs up to the top rope. He jumps off with a splash but Quance moves out of the way. Quance jumps on Spade and grabs both arms and locks in the rings of Saturn. Spade fights the pain from the hold but eventually he gives in and submits.

Winner: Bobby Quance (16:21)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 65 CR: 46 MQ: 84

Patterson: “Johnny Spade put on a strong showing but he’s too used to fighting as a tag team and that brought him down here.”

Guppie: “I don’t know if it’s that. He wrestled a good match but he took too many chances and Quance took advantage of those mistakes.”

Patterson: “Good point, Brian. Up next Youthanazia defends the tag team titles against Danny Daniels and Austin Aries.”

Guppie: “We’ll see if this team can overcome their experience disadvantage and beat the current champions or if that lack of experience will cost them tonight as they are getting a great chance here.”

Segment 7: The New Team

Danny Daniels and Austin Aries walk out from the back to Papa Roach’s “Getting Away with Murder.” Both men slides into the ring and Daniels takes the mic from the announcer.

Daniels: “Tonight you are seeing the birth of a new tag team, baby! Danny Daniels and Austin Aries. We have asked for a title shot and we have received it. The people in the back know our talent and you fans do too whether you want to admit it or not. Tonight Youthanazia will come up a little short as we become the new Tag Team Champions here in this craphole of a city. Austin Aries is the total package, baby. He’s got technical skills, he can fly and he’s strong. And me, I’ve got the best piledriver in the business and I’m the brains and mouth of this operation. Tonight Josh Prohibition and M-Dogg 20 are going to find they aren’t ruling the roost anymore. Tonight you will see the birth and rise of a new tag team!”

OA: 46

Segment 6: Youthanazia © vs. Danny Daniels & Austin Aries (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Aries and M-Dogg start the match. They lockup and Aries takes the match to the mat and controls M-Dogg quite easily but can’t lock any submission’s on as M-Dogg squirms around a lot. Aries gives up on the submission holds and just slams some forearms into the back of M-Dogg’s head then grabs him in a camel clutch but Prohibition is quick to come in and break up the hold. Daniels comes in and clotheslines Prohibition and all hell breaks loose as all four men start brawling in the ring. Daniels and Prohibition spill to the outside and continue brawling. Aries knocks M-Dogg into the corner with a forearm shot then charges and goes over the ropes with a plancha onto both men. M-Dogg recovers and gets on the apron then runs and hits a shooting star press onto all three men and the crowd is going nuts. M-Dogg pulls Aries to his feet and slams him face first onto the apron before rolling him into the ring. M-Dogg gets onto the apron then goes for a slingshot senton but he misses. Daniels climbs up and hits a couple more forearms then hits Prohibition with a superplex. Daniels makes the cover and gets a two count before M-Dogg grabs his foot and pulls him off. The ref forces M-Dogg back to his corner while Aries and Daniels trade spots in the ring. The team of Aries and Daniels continue to work Prohibition over in their corner focusing on the neck and upperback of Prohibition. Daniels gets Prohibition from behind and goes for a cross arm german suplex but Prohibition counters with a shot to the junk on Daniels then manages to roll and tag in M-Dogg.

M-Dogg springboards in with a dropkick on Daniels then charges and sends Aries off the apron with a yakuza kick. M-Dogg turns around and avoids a clothesline from Daniels then spikes him with a bid DDT. M-Dogg makes the cover and gets a two count before Aries breaks it up. Aries pulls M-Dogg to his feet and goes for a vertical suplex but M-Dogg counters in midair and pulls Aries down into a brutal DDT. M-Dogg pulls Aries to his feet and goes for an exploder but Aries fights out with some back elbows. Aries goes behind M-Dogg and grabs him for a german suplex but M-Dogg blocks it then standing switches behind Aries and hits a bridge german suplex that gets him a two count. M-Dogg continues the offensive on Aries and hits several big moves that get near falls. M-Dogg then plants Aries with an exploder suplex then goes up to the top rope. He comes off with a shooting star press but Daniels pulls Aries out of the ring and M-Dogg hits the mat hard. Prohibition runs over on the outside and jumps onto Daniels and the two start brawling on the outside. Aries climbs onto the apron then climbs up the ropes and goes for a 450 but M-Dogg rolls out of the way and Aries crashes and burns and both men are down on the mat hurt.

They slowly get to their feet and start trading some punches and Aries gets frustrated and lets loose with a flurry of forearms then drops M-Dogg with a brutal brainbuster. He makes the cover but Prohibition breaks it up at two. Prohibition goes for a german suplex but Daniels slides in and hits him with a forearm to the back of the head and breaks it up. He spins Prohibition around and kicks him in the gut then drops him with a piledriver and rolls him out of the ring. Aries watches and M-Dogg gets to his feet and grabs Aries from behind. M-Dogg sends Aries into the turnbuckle with a release german suplex and Aries folds up then rolls out of the ring. Daniels and M-Dogg get to their feet and face off. Daniels throws a punch and M-Dogg ducks it then folds Daniels up with a backdrop driver. M-Dogg climbs up to the top rope then hits Daniels with a moonsault legdrop. M-Dogg drags himself over and makes the cover for a three count.

Winner: Youthanazia (23:11)

Notes: ***3/4

OA: 69 CR: 46 MQ: 93

Patterson: “What a contest between those two teams! They gave it their all and Youthanazia walk out of another close contest with the belts around their waists.”

Guppie: “They are proving to be as dominant as Special K did. They have some nice high flying moves that allow them to make comesbacks quickly and that helps them a lot.”

Patterson: “That’s a good comparison Brian. Up next is our main event as B-Boy defends the SMWA Championship against Petey Williams.”

Guppie: “This is going to be a great match. These are two of the best wrestlers in the SMWA and they bring a lot of stuff to the table and the two of them clashing is going to be spectacular.”

Segment 8: B-Boy © vs. Petey Williams (SMWA Championship)

The two men face off and they slowly circle before locking up and Petey goes right into a side headlock and B-Boy shoots him off into the ropes and drops him with a shoulder tackle. B-Boy bounces off the ropes and jumps over Willims. B-Boy comes off again and Williams leaps over him and flips B-Boy with a hiptoss. Williams goes to drop an elbow but B-Boy rolls out of the way then gets to his feet and drops his own missed elbow then both men get up to their feet and face off to some applause from the crowd. The two men lockup again and they take it to the mat as they try and feel each other out and look for weaknesses. B-Boy finds a focus point on the head and neck area of Williams and manages to get a side headlock on and grind Williams into the mat as he applies the hold. Williams slowly fights his way to his feet then picks B-Boy up and drops him down with a shinbreaker and B-Boy breaks the hold. B-Boy gets to his feet and kicks his leg out then catches Williams unaware and smacks him hard. Williams grabs B-Boy’s legs and locks in a figure four and really cranks down on the leg of B-Boy. Williams scores a couple of two counts before B-Boy manages to roll the hold over and force Williams to break it. B-Boy rolls out of the ring and tries to work on his injured leg. Williams charges but B-Boy moves out of the way and Williams grabs the ropes to stop himself. B-Boy grabs his feet and trips him up then pulls him out of the ring and nails him with a european uppercut then sends him face first into the ringpost. B-Boy continues to fight on the outside and breaks the ref’s count every once in a while. B-Boy slams Williams into the guardrail then catches him and delivers an overhead belly to belly suplex that drops Williams on the hard floor then rolls into the ring.

B-Boy favors his left leg then drops a knee across the back of William’s head as he rolls in. He pulls Williams to his feet and goes for the cross special brainbuster but Williams counters and lands on his feet then hits a dropkick to the back of B-Boy’s knee and leaves both men down on the mat. The ref applies a ten count and both men get up at about six. Williams catches B-Boy with some forearms then delivers some kicks to the left leg then grabs it and sends B-Boy to the mat with a dragon screw. Williams holds onto the leg and goes into a legbar. B-Boy fights the pain and slaps the mat several times before he slowly drags himself backwards and gets a hand on the ropes to break the hold. Williams backs B-Boy into the corner then delivers some kicks to the knee. He grabs B-Boy and irish whips him but B-Boy stumbles and falls to the mat. Williams tries to pull B-Boy to his feet but B-Boy flails behind him with his arm and Williams finally just drops an elbow across his back then pulls him to his feet. B-Boy comes up with a european uppercut then grabs Williams and plants him with a brainbuster then grabs his left knee as both men are on the mat.

The ref applies the ten count and B-Boy is first to his feet at the six although he is still favoring the leg. Williams slowly gets to his feet and B-Boy charges and delivers a big yakuza kick to the side of his head and sends him to the mat while B-Boy limps on the injured leg to make a cover and get a two count. B-Boy can’t believe it then regroups and backs off for the shining wizard. Petey gets to one knee and B-Boy charges and swings the knee but Williams blocks it with both arms and shoves B-Boy onto his back. Williams grabs the legs of B-Boy and goes into a sharpshooter. B-Boy fights the hold and tries to crawl towards the ropes but Williams sits down on the hold and B-Boy isn’t going anywhere and he is forced to tap out.

Winner: Petey Williams (25:37)

Notes: ****

OA: 77 CR: 55 MQ: 100

Patterson: “What a fantastic contest between those two men! B-Boy thought he had beaten Petey Williams down enough for the finish but Petey saw the shining wizard and blocked it right into a sharpshooter.”

Guppie: “Which targets the legs that Petey was working the entire match. It also puts a lot of pressure on the back and really stretches the entire body. Petey Williams had a game plan the entire time and he earned the SMWA Championship with that showing right there.”

Patterson: “Those two men all out and I hope B-Boy gets a rematch for the belt soon and we see another great contest between the two men. That’s all the action we have for you fans tonight. On behalf of Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson, thanks for tuning in.”

A New Guard

www.smwawrestling.com

May 23, 2006

NWA: Old School Rulz has signed both Petey Williams and Vito Thomaselli to written contracts and neither man will be competing in the SMWA any longer. We wish both men good luck in their future career.

Since Petey Williams was the current SMWA Championship when he left we will be holding a tournament to crown a new champion. This will be an eight man tournament and the first two rounds will be held at our June show which is going to be called Title Tournament. A new guard will have the chance to take over as a lot of the occasional wrestlers will be given shots at the championship and a more permanent spot in the SMWA. Deranged, Matt Sydal, Bobby Quance, N8 Mattson, Sedrick Strong. Roderick Strong, Johnny Spade and Angeldust have been signed for the tournament. We’ll have more information on the pairings and the Tag Title match soon.

Title Tournament Card

www.smwawrestling.com

May 30, 2006

June 19 in Kalamazoo is the date and place of our next show the Title Tournament. By now you know that former champion Petey Williams has left the company and we are holding a tournament to crown a new champion. We are giving a lot of the newer talent a chance to shine in this tournament although you will still see some of our regular talent featured and everything is going to be on the line.

First Round Matches

Deranged vs. Matt Sydal

“The Real” N8 Mattson vs. Sedrick Strong

Bobby Quance vs. Roderick Strong

Johnny Spade vs. Angeldust

Youthanazia © vs. Havana Pitbulls (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero are receiving a rematch against M-Dogg 20 and Josh Prohibition and are getting a second chance to win the titles from them. The team of Youthanazia has managed to fend off the best teams that have been thrown at them and they hope to continue that trend here as they face the pride of Cuba.

Plus we’ll see the second round matches of the tournament. We hope to see all of our fans show up and support us as we start the path to a new champion and a new era in the Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance.

The show will be up Monday or Tuesday and if I follow my trend that means probably Tuesday.

Patterson: “I’m sure many of you know the story of Petey Williams leaving the SMWA while still holding the title and that is what has led to this show. We have no champion and we have to crown a new one. Tonight we have the first and second rounds of an eight man tournament to crown another champion.”

Guppie: “That’s right. In the first round we have Johnny Spade facing off against Angeldust, Bobby Quance taking on Roderick Strong, N8 Mattson against Sedrick Strong and in our opening match Deranged and Matt Sydal.”

Patterson: “We also have a tag team title match as the Havana Pitbulls challenge for the SMWA Tag Team Titles against Youthanazia in a rematch.”

Guppie: “After that match we will have our two second round matches. Now lets kick the action off as Deranged takes on Matt Sydal.”

Segment 1: Deranged vs. Matt Sydal

The two men face off and they tie up in the middle of the ring and Sydal sends Deranged into the ropes and hits him with a backbody drop as he rebounds. Deranged gets to his feet and Sydal nails him with a spinning heel kick. Sydal controls the match and works Deranged over for a couple of near falls but can’t keep him down. Sydal whips Deranged into the corner and Deranged runs up the ropes then springboards back off and catches Sydal with a tornado DDT that leaves both men down. Deranged gets up first but Sydal is close behind. Sydal swings a punch but Deranged ducks it then takes him over with a german suplex and bridges it for a two count. Deranged gets to his feet and waits for Sydal to get up then charges and meets him with a spinning front kick. Deranged makes a cover and gets a two count. He pulls Sydal to his feet and goes for a fisherman suplex but Sydal meets him with a knee to the head and Deranged drops Sydal back to the mat. Sydal ducks behind Deranged and folds him up with a backdrop driver. Sydal goes up to the top rope and hits Deranged with a missile dropkick as he gets to his feet. Sydal makes a cover and gets a two count. The two men go back and forth trading some big moves for the win but keep getting two counts. Sydal blocks a kick from Deranged then nails him with a forearm and follows up with a flurry backing Deranged into the corner. Sydal picks Deranged up and sets him on the top rope. Sydal climbs up but Deranged shoves him off. Deranged stands up on the top rope and Sydal springs up to his feet then climbs up the ropes and grabs Deranged around the waist then takes him over with a moonsault belly to belly suplex. Sydal drops down over Deranged and gets the three count.

Winner: Matt Sydal (8:21)

Patterson: “What an incredible move by Matt Sydal to win a hard fought match against Deranged.”

Guppie: “Sydal uses that move a lot in IWA Mid South and it is a devastating move and that’s what he needed to keep Deranged down.”

Patterson: “Our next match pits former champion N8 Mattson against Sedrick Strong and the winner of this match will face Matt Sydal in the second round.”

Guppie: “N8 Mattson has an advantage of having more experience in the SMWA as he has been competing on a main event level while Sedrick’s appearances have been few and far between lately.”

Segment 2: The Once and Future Champion

N8 Mattson walks out from the back to the sounds of Gothic music filling the gym. Mattson walks to the ring accompanied by boos then slides into the ring and takes the mic from the announcer.

Mattson: “All you fans boo me like I am nothing in this promotion. I am the heart and soul of this place. I have stayed in this promotion through my weak beginning through my dominant reign as champion. Many have stood before me and fallen when they were struck by my righteous might. Tonight I was supposed to face Vito Thomaselli one more time but he was too afraid and he backed out. He knew the beating that I delivered to him at the last show was nothing compared to what would happen to him in another match and instead of fighting me, he ran away to a different promotion to escape my power. Tonight I am given the opportunity to rise to the top of this promotion once again. Tonight I have the opportunity to claim the SMWA Championship in the name of my Lord. First I must face Sedrick Strong and some people are treating this like a true challenge to my might but that is not going to happen. Tonight I am going to plow through Sedrick Strong and then later tonight I will face Matt Sydal and I will put him down for the count as well. Then I will go on to the show next month and reclaim the SMWA Championship that I never should have lost.”

OA: 64

Segment 3: N8 Mattson vs. Sedrick Strong

Sedrick enters the ring and Mattson stomps away at his back as he slides in. Mattson pulls Sedrick to his feet and whips him into the ropes then drops him with a shoulder tackle. Mattson bounces off the ropes and steps over Sedrick. Sedrick gets to his feet and leap frogs over Mattson as he bounces off the ropes. Mattson bounces off the ropes and Sedrick jumps again but Mattson catches him and plants him with a spinebuster. Mattson makes the cover and gets a two count. Mattson pulls Sedrick to his feet and gets him up for a fireman’s carry and spins him out for a TKO but Sedrick lands on his feet and grabs Mattson and delivers a belly to back suplex. Sedrick gets to his feet first and hits Mattson with a leg lariat as he gets to his feet. Sedrick makes the cover and gets a one count. Mattson gets to his feet and Sedrick whips him into the ropes and sends him to the mat with a dropkick right to the face. Sedrick makes a cover and gets a short two count. Sedrick continues on the offensive and gets a couple more near falls. That is until Mattson ducks a clothesline then hits Sedrick with a bridging german suplex that gets a two count and leaves both men down on the mat for a while. They both slowly get up and start exchanging strikes. Mattson takes control with a flurry of forearms and backs Sedrick into the corner. Mattson sets Sedrick up on the top rope and climbs up after him. Mattson delivers a couple of punches then hooks Sedrick in a front facelock and takes him off the top with a superplex.

Both men are down and Mattson manages to drape an arm over Sedrick to get a long two count. Mattson slowly pulls Sedrick to his feet and delivers a slap across the face and that infuriates Sedrick who kicks Mattson in the gut then spikes him with a nice DDT. The ref starts the ten count and Sedrick breaks the count at five as he staggers to his feet. Mattson tries to get up but Sedrick meets him with a running boot as he gets to his knees. Sedrick then climbs up to the top rope and comes off with an elbow drop but Mattson rolls out of the way an Sedrick slams into the mat hard. Mattson picks Sedrick up and gets him in a fireman’s carry then drops him with a TKO. Mattson climbs up to the top rope himself then comes off with a guillotine legdrop that misses as well. Sedrick gets to his feet and grabs Mattson from behind with a full nelson but Mattson breaks the hold then goes behind Sedrick and picks him up in a reverse fireman’s carry then spins him out into a neckbreaker. Mattson stomps him a couple of times before he climbs up to the top rope then comes off with a big legdrop across Sedrick’s throat. Mattson makes the cover and gets a three count.

Winner: N8 Mattson (11:38)

OA: 57 CR: 46 MQ: 83

Patterson: “The former champion, N8 Mattson, will be moving onto the semi-finals of the tournament later tonight against Matt Sydal.”

Guppie: “Sedrick put up a good fight but Mattson had experience on his side and that won out for him.”

Patterson: “It’s time to find out the contestants in our other semi-final match and we start by having Bobby Quance take on Roderick Strong.”

Guppie: “This is finesse against brute strength Mike. Quance is a great technical wrestler and works lots of holds. Strong can work holds too but he prefers to destroy an opponent’s back with hard hitting moves and just neutralize them.”

Segment 4: Bobby Quance vs. Roderick Strong

The two men face off and Quance goes for a lockup but Strong lights him up with a stiff chop across the chest. Strong follows up with some forearms and chops that back Quance against the ropes. Strong whips Quance into the opposite ropes and swings with a lariat but Quance ducks under it. He bounces off the other ropes and takes Strong down with a spinning heel kick. Strong gets to his feet and Quance hits him with some punches then goes for a vertical suplex but Strong blocks it then picks Quance up and holds him in the air before dropping him to the mat with a vertical suplex of his own. Strong makes a cover and gets a short two count. Strong pulls Quance up to his feet and whips him into the ropes and catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for another two count. Strong continues to work on the back of Quance with some big impact moves. He gets a nice boston crab locked in but Quance quickly escapes to the ropes. As he pulls himself to his feet Strong pulls Quance out of the ropes then picks him up for a powerbomb but Quance reverses it with a hurrincanranna. Strong gets up to his feet and throws a punch but Quance ducks it and goes into an abdominal stretch. Strong fights the hold then delivers some back elbows to Quance’s leg and hiptosses him over breaking the hold up. Quance gets to his feet and Strong kicks him in the midsection and picks him up for a powerbomb and drops him across his knee. Strong makes the cover and gets a two count before Quance puts a foot on the ropes to the crowd’s dismay.

Strong pulls Quance to his feet and lifts him up for another powerbomb but Quance flips over and takes Strong over with a sunset flip for a two count. Strong rolls backwards to his feet and Quance trips him back down then gets a sunset flip and hooks an arm as well twisting the body of Strong. Strong slowly drags himself forward to grab the ropes and break the hold. Strong gets to his feet clutching his ribs while Quance gets to his feet rubbing his back. Quance continues the offensive and targets the midsection of Strong. Strong starts to fight back though and hits Quance with a series of forearms then whips him into the ropes. Strong goes for a tilt-a-whirl but Quance counters it with a spinning headscissors. Quance goes up to the top rope then comes off with a shooting star press right across the midsection of Strong and gets the three count.

Winner: Bobby Quance (10:19)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 54 CR: 40 MQ: 80

Patterson: “Roderick Strong did a number on Quance’s back with those high impact moves but Quance did a nice job of getting on the midsection of Strong and weakening him for the shooting star press.”

Guppie: “And you noticed the different ways both men go about that attack. Roderick went with big impact moves and Quance stretched Strong and sprinkled in some high flying moves across the ribs that scored big time.”

Patterson: “And both men know how to execute their style of offense well. Our next match will determine the person who goes on to fight Bobby Quance later tonight as Johnny Spade takes on Angeldust.”

Guppie: “This is going to be a fast paced match and both men are going to be bringing all they have to the table. Angeldust has to be hoping he does better than his partner Deranged did earlier tonight.”

Segment 5: Angeldust vs. Johnny Spade

The match starts off with a fast exchange of junior moves and Spade gets the best there and Angeldust bails to the outside. Unfortunately for him that doesn’t hold Spade off. Spade bounces off the ropes then jumps to the outside with a no-hands plancha that sends him and Angeldust slamming into the guardrail. Spade is up first and he gets some offense in on the outside including a nice snap suplex before he rolls Angeldust back into the ring. Spade climbs onto the apron then slingshots in with a splash but Angeldust gets his knees up. Angeldust gets to his feet and leg lariats Spade to the ground. Angeldust goes up to the top rope and comes off with a crossbody block but Spade jumps up and meets him with a dropkick to the midsection that leaves Angeldust gasping on the mat for air yet only gets Spade a two count. Spade controls the match as Angeldust is out of it. He goes for a german suplex but Angeldust manages to flip over and land on his feet. Angeldust jumps him from behind with a bulldog then goes to the apron. Spade gets to his feet and Angeldust comes in with a flipping diamond cutter but Spade moves out of the way and Angeldust slams into the mat. Angeldust gets to his feet and Spade plants him with a brainbuster then climbs to the top rope and hits a moonsault for the three count.

Winner: Johnny Spade (8:33)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 54 CR: 46 MQ: 75

Patterson: “Angeldust went to the air too many times in that match and it cost him the momentum several times.”

Guppie: “That shows you why they are called high risk moves. Sometimes they pay off and sometimes they don’t and that time they didn’t pay off.”

Patterson: “We’ll be seeing Bobby Quance taking on Johnny Spade in the semi-finals of the title tournament as well as Matt Sydal taking on N8 Mattson. But now it’s time for the SMWA Tag Team Title match as the Havana Pitbulls challenge Youthanazia once again.”

Guppie: “It was a close match the first time they fought and it can go either way tonight. I can guarantee that it’s going to be an exciting match though.”

Segment 6: Youthanazia © vs. Havana Pitbulls (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

The two teams face off in the middle of the ring and the Pitbulls strike with some forearms then Ricky and Rocky hit vertical suplexes on M-Dogg and Prohibition respectively. Rocky grabs Prohibition by the back of his pants and chucks him over the top rope then follows him to the outside and the two men brawl. Ricky pounds away on M-Dogg with forearms then takes him over with an exploder suplex. Ricky makes the cover and gets a short two count. On the outside Rocky drops Prohibition with a brainbuster on the gym floor then gets up on the apron. Ricky makes the tag and Rocky comes in with a knee drop to the back of M-Dogg’s head then grabs him in a rear naked choke but M-Dogg manages to roll to the side and grab the ropes. Rocky pulls M-Dogg to his feet and throws him into the corner and tags Ricky back in. The two Pitbulls unleash a devastating series of strikes and running strikes on M-Dogg that drop him down to a seated position in the corner and gets some big cheers from the crowd. M-Dogg continues to get tossed and stretched like a rag doll in the ring and Prohibition has finally recovered and climbed onto the apron. Prohibition waits for the tag as M-Dogg continues to try and reach the ropes and Ricky throws M-Dogg to the corner and Prohibition tags himself in.

Ricky waits for Prohibition and urges him to come on. Prohibition is wary and the two men circle. Prohibition gets too close to the wrong corner and Rocky slaps him in the back of the head. Prohibition turns towards him and Ricky charges with a big lariat to the back of the head. Prohibition receives a series of stiff forearms to the back of the head before Ricky tags in Rocky. Rocky pulls Prohibition out of the corner and tags him with some stiff slaps to the face then drops him with a front suplex then goes into an STF. Prohibition fights the hold and crawls towards the ropes but can’t make it anywhere. M-Dogg comes into the ring and breaks the hold up with a dropkick to Rocky’s face but Ricky comes in and folds him in half with a brutal lariat. Rocky pulls Prohibition to his feet but Prohibition nails him with a kick to the midsection then spikes him with a DDT. Prohibition gets to his feet and rolls forward to tag in a slightly fresher M-Dogg. M-Dogg springboards in and hits a dropkick to the side of Rocky’s head which sends him staggering and allows Ricky to tag himself in. M-Dogg ducks a lariat and catches Ricky with a superkick. Ricky staggers but doesn’t fall down so M-Dogg runs to the ropes and bounces off the second rope with a moonsault that takes Ricky down and gets a short two count. M-Dogg continues to rally on the offensive and gets the crowd behind him. M-Dogg drops Ricky with a nice tornado DDT then tags in Prohibition. Prohibition comes off the top with a senton splash that gets a two count.

Prohibition pulls Ricky to his feet and gets met with a stiff european uppercut then gets dropped on his head with an exploder suplex and Ricky bridges it for a two count before M-Dogg breaks it up. Ricky gets up and tags in Rocky. Rocky comes in and drops Prohibition on his head with another brainbuster and gets a two count. The Pitbulls isolate Prohibition in their corner again and work on his neck and head area. Ricky is the legal man and he hits Prohibition with a bridging german suplex before M-Dogg comes in with a springboard splash that breaks the bridge. Rocky comes in and tries to throw M-Dogg out but M-Dogg counters and sends Rocky to the outside then launches himself over the top rope with a spinning crossbody block that leaves both men down on the outside. In the ring Prohibition gets to his feet first and climbs to the top rope but Ricky is up too quickly and racks Prohibition up on the top rope. Ricky climbs up to the second rope then grabs Prohibition with a front facelock and lifts him up in the air for a superplex but drops him down with a brainbuster. Ricky drapes an arm over for the three count.

Winner: Havana Pitbulls (18:44)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 57 CR: 47 MQ: 82

Patterson: “We have new tag team champions as the Havana Pitbulls have beaten Youthanazia!”

Guppie: “What a display by the Pitbulls too. M-Dogg and Prohibition put on a good showing but the Pitbulls jumped them in the beginning and never let go of that advantage. They just kept dropping Prohibition on his head and that brainbuster off the second rope was sickening.”

Patterson: “The Pitbulls are tenacious and once they get a body part weakened they don’t let go. After a short intermission folks we’ll be back with our first second round match in the Title tournament as Bobby Quance takes on Johnny Spade.”

Guppie: “This should be a good contest. Spade really dominated Angeldust quickly in his match but Quance took a lot of damage to his back from Roderick Strong in his match and that could give Spade the advantage.”

Segment 7: Bobby Quance vs. Johnny Spade

The two men lockup in the middle of the ring and Spade goes behind with a rear waistlock then slams a forearm into the already injured back of Quance sending him to his knees. He follows up with a dropkick to the back of Quance’s head that lays him out on the mat then drops a knee to the lowerback. Spade rolls him over and makes a cover but Quance kicks out after two. Spade continues on the offense working on the back of Quance and keeping him down on the mat and helpless. Spade locks in a boston crab but Quance slowly crawls to the ropes and breaks the hold then drags himself outside the ring. Spade bounces off the far ropes then leaps over with a plancha as Quance gets to his feet but Quance moves out of the way and Spade hits the ground feet first then folds up and falls into the guardrail. Quance grabs him and hits a side russian legsweep on the outside that leaves both men down. The ref starts the ten count and Quance drags himself in at five but Spade still hasn’t moved yet. At six Spade starts to get up and barely slides in before the ten count to cheers from the crowd. Spade gets to his feet still a little groggy and Quance takes him down with a divorce court then goes into a fujiwara armbar. Spade yells in pain then lifts himself up and spins around breaking the hold. Spade gets to his feet but Quance grabs him from behind and traps him with a hammerlock as he delivers a belly to back suplex on Spade. Quance makes a cover and gets a two count.

Quance drags himself to his feet clutching at his back while Spade keeps his left arm tight against his midsection. Quance goes for a dropkick on the injured arm but Spade steps out of the way then grabs Quance’s legs and gets a boston crab. Spade eventually loses the grip with his left arm but holds on tight with a single leg crab. Quance lifts himself off the mat then flips underneath himself breaking the hold and sending Spade into the ropes. Spade bounces off and Quance grabs hammerlock and sends him over with a northern lights suplex. He tries to bridge it but can’t because of the injured back. Spade gets up with his left arm dangling, Quance rolls onto his stomach then lifts himself up with his arms and gets to his feet. Spade grabs Quance and whips him into the ropes. Quance jumps up and catches Spade with a hurrincanranna and takes him over. Quance spins sideways and grabs the left arm and goes into a cross armbreaker. Spade tries to lock his arms but Quance gets it pinned down and Spade taps out.

Winner: Bobby Quance (13:31)

Notes: **1/2

OA: 58 CR: 47 MQ: 84

Patterson: “What a fight Bobby Quance put up in that match. Johnny Spade went right after the back that Roderick Strong injured but Quance stayed in the fight and won it with some nice work on the left arm.”

Guppie: “We saw him go after the midsection of Strong in the first round and the arm of Spade tonight. He can work anybody part and win the match with it.”

Patterson: “It’s time for our main event folks. It’s our second semi-finals match and we’ll find out who will face Bobby Quance at the next show for the title. Now Matt Sydal takes on former champion N8 Mattson.”

Guppie: “These guys fought once before when N8 Mattson successfully defending the SMWA Championship against Matt Sydal but it was a lot closer than anybody suspected it would be and I think it’s going to be a tough contest to call tonight as well.”

Segment 8: N8 Mattson vs. Matt Sydal

Sydal gets in the ring first and Mattson takes his time taunting the fans as he walks to the ring. Sydal climbs onto the top rope then jumps off onto Mattson to start the match off on the floor. The two men start brawling on the outside and they go back and forth with both men landing and receiving some brutal shots. Mattson scores a big shot with a forearm and follows up by slamming Sydal face first into the ringpost then rolling him into the ring. Mattson presses his advantage with a vertical suplex and floats over for a two count. Sydal fights back and evens the playing field. The two men trade punches and moves with neither man able to gain an advantage again. Mattson goes for a german suplex but Sydal flips over and lands on his feet then connects with a leg lariat that takes Mattson down for a short two count. They continue going back and forth until Mattson hits a dropkick that sends Sydal rolling to the outside. Mattson bounces off the far ropes then hits Sydal with a suicide dive as both men slam into the guardrail. Mattson goes to work on Sydal on the outside and slams him to the gym floor with a powerslam. Mattson then reaches underneath the ring and pulls out a table that he sets parallel to the ring. Mattson throws Sydal up on the table and Sydal rolls over and pulls himself up on the apron using the ropes. Mattson gets up behind him and grabs him with a rear waistlock and goes for a german suplex but Sydal blocks it. Sydal breaks Mattson’s grip with some elbows to the side of the head then leaps over the ropes and grabs Mattson’s head choking him over the top rope.

Sydal runs to the opposite turnbuckle then climbs up. He jumps off and catches Mattson with a front facelock then spins him around and spikes him through the table with a tornado DDT! Both men are down as the ref starts a ten count. Sydal gets to his feet first and rolls into the ring at 5. Mattson manages to drag himself up and roll into the ring at 9. Sydal crawls over and makes the cover and gets a two count. Sydal controls the match from that point and he works Mattson over. Mattson fights back but his offensive burts are mostly ineffectual and Sydal is able to shake them off. Sydal grabs Mattson and drops him with a reverse DDT then climbs up to the top rope and hits a shooting star press for a three count.

Winner: Matt Sydal (14:52)

Notes: **1/2

OA: 61 CR: 51 MQ: 85

Patterson: “What a contest! Those men took the battle to the outside and Matt Sydal came out the winner.”

Guppie: “N8 Mattson beat Sydal with a german suplex off the apron in their first match but this time the tables were turned on him and once Sydal DDT’d him through the table it was all over but the three count.”

Patterson: “Next month we’ll see Bobby Quance face Matt Sydal to crown the new SMWA Champion!”

Guppie: “We’ll be seeing a battle of the shooting star presses as both men like to use that move as a finisher and both men can execute it so well.”

Patterson: “Thanks for coming everybody and be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for info on upcoming cards and your favorite wrestlers. For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson have a nice night.”

I just got my new laptop so I'm going to have to transfer everything from my family computer to that and it might sound simple but it isn't because my family computer is a POS. Once I manage to get the data transferred though it should make previews come more frequently but it might not either and may mean nothing to the diary.

Crowning Another Champion (Kalamazoo)

July 18, 2006

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentary: Mike Patterson

Patterson: “Welcome to the SMWA’s Crowning Another Champion show. I’m Mike Patterson and I’m joined on commentary by Brian Guppie.”

Guppie: “And we’re bringing you the best independent action in Michigan. In our main event tonight Matt Sydal faces off against Bobby Quance to crown the new SMWA Champion. We also have the Havana Pitbulls defending the Tag Team Championship against Adam Windsor and Kid Rageous.”

Patterson: “Mikey Henderson will be making his SMWA debut tonight against Special K member Hydro. Josh Daniels will be facing off against Delirious.”

Guppie: “We have Black Dragon taking on Conrad Kennedy the Third and Bobby Bambino takes on Sedrick Strong in our opening match. Bambino really needs a strong showing in that match. Sedrick has name value here and a win against him would really vault Bambino’s name up the rankings.”

Patterson: “But there is a reason Sedrick has that name value and that’s because he can perform in the ring and win and Bambino’s going to have his hands full.”

Segment 1: Bobby Bambino vs. Sedrick Strong

The two men face off and Bambino slaps Strong across the face. Strong shakes it off then takes Bambino over with an armdrag then hits him with a dropkick as he gets to his feet. Strong pulls Bambino to his feet and goes for a vertical suplex but Bambino blocks it then rolls him up for two. Strong gets to his feet and Bambino catches him with a chop to the chest then takes him over with a snapmare and gets him in a rear chinlock. Strong fights to his feet then hits Bambino with some elbows to the midsection then shoots him off into the ropes and drops him with a shoulder tackle. Strong takes control of the match and dictates the pace and Bambino tries to make his own moves but Strong is able to keep him on the defensive. Strong whips Bambino into the ropes then spins him over with a big powerslam that gets a two count. Strong pulls Bambino to his feet and goes for a powerslam but Bambino slides down then goes for a german suplex but Strong flips over and lands on his feet. Bambino gets to his feet and Strong hits a spinning heel kick to the back of his head. Bambino gets to his feet and Strong kicks him in the midsection then drops him with a powerbomb and folds him over for the three count.

Winner: Sedrick Strong (7:44)

Notes: 3/4*

OA: 51 CR: 31 MQ: 71

Guppie: “Sedrick Strong picks up the win against Bobby Bambino fairly easily but Quance did have a few chances in there.”

Patterson: “Sedrick Strong is just a solid wrestler and tough to beat in the ring and Bambino just found that out.”

Guppie: “He sure did. Our next match pits Black Dragon against Conrad Kennedy the Third. This is going to be an exciting contest. Conrad has great basic skills and good technique. Black Dragon has a stronger style but he has just returned to action from a neck injury and that could hurt him.”

Patterson: “We saw how it affected him last month against Hydro but he also had some ring rust and he’s been taking bookings all around to get rid of that so he’s going to be completely different this time around.”

Segment 2: Black Dragon vs. Conrad Kennedy III

The two men face off in the middle of the ring then lockup. Dragon takes CK3 down with an armdrag and goes right into an armbar. Dragon flips backwards to his feet easing the pressure then escapes the hold. Dragon keeps the arm trapped and CK3 turns then takes Dragon down with an amrdrag of his own and breaks the hold. The two men get to their feet and face off. They lockup again and this time CK3 goes behind Dragon with a hammerlock. Dragon hits a back elbow to the head of CK3 then goes behind with a hammerlock of his own. CK3 runs forward then drops to the mat and Dragon loses the hold and flies to the outside. CK3 gets to his feet then launches himself over the top rope with a crossbody block that knocks Dragon down. CK3 drop toeholds Dragon into the ringpost then rolls him into the ring. CK3 gets to his feet and Dragon jumps off with a missile dropkick that leaves both men down on the mat. The ref starts a ten count and both men are up at six.

Dragon ducks a punch from CK3 then drops him on his head with a bridging german suplex that gets a two count. CK3 gets up to his feet and Dragon hits him with an overhead belly to belly suplex and CK3 rolls out of the ring. Dragon bounces off the ropes then charges and hits CK3 with a suicide dive. Dragon grabs CK3 and pulls him to his feet and drops him with a vertical suplex. Dragon rolls CK3 into the ring then gets onto the apron. Dragon launches himself over the ropes with a splash on CK3 and gets another two count. Dragon pulls CK3 to his feet again and goes for a dragon suplex but CK3 blocks it then breaks the hold. CK3 gets to his feet and Dragon grabs CK3 and plants him with a dragon suplex and bridges for a three count.

Winner: Black Dragon (10:12)

Notes: *1/4

OA: 52 CR: 27 MQ: 77

Guppie: “Those two men went back and forth before Black Dragon managed to drop Conrad with a brutal dragon suplex.”

Patterson: “It seems like Black Dragon hasn’t lost anything during his injury and he has proven that in this match.”

Guppie: “Our next match pits Josh Daniels against Delirious. Josh Daniels has some very stiff chops and some great technical skills. Delirious is a little weird but he can wrestle as well.”

Patterson: “Both of these men need to really show something here tonight. These two men have been floundering and they need to make a big impact tonight.”

Segment 3: Josh Daniels vs. Delirious

Delirious slides into the ring and comes up in front of Daniels and he takes a series of brutal chops that send Delirious reeling. Daniels continues to back him up with some forearms. Daniels grabs Delirious and drops him on his head with a brainbuster. Daniels continues to control the match and works on the neck of Delirious with brutal attacks and submissions. Daniels whips Delirious into the ropes and Delirious comes off with a flying forearm. Daniels gets to his feet and Delirious drops him on his head with a belly to back suplex then climbs to the top rope. Daniels gets up and Delirious comes off with a splash to the back of Daniels that crushes him to the mat. Delirious makes a cover and gets a two count. Delirious pulls Daniels to his feet and hits him with the invitro fertilization and makes the cover for a three count.

Winner: Delirious (6:47)

Notes: -*

OA: 39 CR: 23 MQ: 56

Guppie: “A short match between those two men and Delirious showed some nice moves there to get the win.”

Patterson: “Daniels fell quickly but he did have a nice offense in the beginning and maybe both men can get more chances here in the SMWA.”

Guppie: “Our next match is a treat for you fans of pure wrestling as Mikey Henderson makes his SMWA debut against Hydro. Mikey is a skilled wrestler from the California are but he will have a tough time against Hydro who is an East coast standout with some great wrestling ability.”

These two have teamed up in some other feds recently and Kid Rageous asked for a chance at the titles and we agreed to give it to him.”

Sydal: “I’ve had my up and downs here in this promotion and all of you people have seen those. Last month I probably had the best showing of my life as I beat N8 Mattson and Deranged to earn this match for the SMWA Championship. I had a shot at this belt once before when I fought N8 Mattson and I came up a little short but tonight I’m not going to fail. This time I’m going to become the Champion. Bobby Quance is a tough competitor there is no doubting that but tonight I’m going to be the one who walks out of here with the belt. I’ve walked out of this ring emptied handed before and I’m not going to do it again.”

SWMA Falling Off Course?

www.michindy.com

July 20, 2004

Remy LeBeau

The Southern Michigan Wrestling Alliance has been proclaimed as the top independent wrestling promotion in Michigan by a large number of fans but lately they haven’t been able to produce high quality shows. Two shows may be a quick judgement but since their anniversary show the matches have fallen in quality. They provided a nice show holding a tournament to crown a new champion after Petey Williams signed to a different promotion and Vito Thomaselli signed to another promotion as well ending his feud with N8 Mattson prematurely. Their last show just two days ago lacked many of the names that had made the SMWA so popular in the early part of this year and the late part of last year. While it wasn’t a bad show it wasn’t comparable at all to their shows earlier this year. After the show I sat down with the owner and booker of the SMWA, Kevin George.

Remy: “Thanks for sitting down with me here tonight Kevin. How has business been lately?”

Kevin: “Not as well as it has been. Earlier this year we were able to bring in some of the biggest names because we were getting a lot of interest and lots of tape orders but lately the interest in wrestling has gone down as has our attendance and orders. We’ve been losing business and not only have we had to stop bringing in certain wrestlers but we have had to increase our advertising to get the name out and that’s been sucking money out of us as well.”

Remy: “How has the shrinking of the independent wrestling scene hurt your business.”

Kevin: “It’s a mixed bag. The smaller number of indy promotions has given us more fans because they have less choices of where to go. However many of the promotions have started to sign talent to exclusivity contracts and a lot of our talent has been taken away from us because we have been promoting many wrestlers up the ladder and letting them get exposure.”

Remy: “Just a few months ago the SMWA was being proclaimed as the next ring of honor and people had some doubts about it after the title tournament show because it lacked any of the names that made the SMWA popular.”

Kevin: “I know what they mean and I agree. The show was good but it was obviously not as good as our shows before it. However it’s just one show and we have a lot of big indy names on the show they just aren’t the ones that fans are used to seeing. Tonight’s show was a little off as well but the show next month is going to be even better as I have managed to bring in some of our wrestles we lost back to action here in the SMWA. I don’t want to spoil the surprise anymore than that but I believe that is what is going to put us back on track. We may have had a couple of off shows but that’s over with.”

Remy: “That’s good to here. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. You have managed to overcome some problems earlier and I know you will be able to pull through it again and bring the SMWA back to glory. Thanks for talking with me.”

Kevin: “Thanks for giving me the chance to tell the fans what’s going on in the SMWA.”

Kevin remains confident about the SMWA and his excitement in our interview really has me excited about the next show as well and I’m hoping he can really pull things back together.”

Patterson: “Daniels really put a hurting on Conrad but he kept fighting back and that determination got him the win.”

He gets to his feet gasping for breath and Hydro hits him with a bridging german suplex for a two count and Sydal gets to his feet checking his neck. Hydro grabs Sydal for a tiger suplex but Sydal breaks free of it but Hydro grabs Sydal for a german suplex then goes for another german suplex but Sydal flips over and lands on his feet. Sydal pulls Hydro up to his feet then shoves him into the corner. Sydal hits Hydro with a couple of forearms then sets him up on the top rope. Hydro balances himself on the top rope and waits. Sydal gets up and Hydro comes off with a knee to the back of Sydal’s head. Hydro grabs Sydal from behind with a full nelson then drops him on his head with a dragon suplex for a three count.

Winner: Hydro (13:35)

Notes: **1/4

OA: 62 CR: 42 MQ: 83

Guppie: “Hydro did a number on the neck of Sydal and put him away with a brutal dragon suplex.”

Patterson: “Hydro was in trouble when Sydal had him up on the top rope but he fought back and sent Sydal tumbling to the mat and took over from there.”

Guppie: “It was a tremendous effort by both men and they put on a heck of a show. Our next match pits Austin Aries against N8 Mattson.”

Patterson: “This is going to be an exciting match. Aries is a great technical wrestler and Mattson is one tough wrestler.”

Segment 3: Tag Team Destruction

Austin Aries walks down to the ring and takes the mic from the ring announcer.

Aries: “I know that all of you think I am supposed to wrestle N8 Mattson but I saw who the returning superstar is and I think you fans are going to want Mattson to fight him more. I have some business of my own to deal with as it is. Danny Daniels I want you to come down here to this ring and face me when I say this.”

Aries lowers his arm as he waits. Daniels’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring looking confused as he slides in and faces Aries.

Aries: “Danny, I know you wanted to be a tag team with me and I accepted that offer. I knew how good of a wrestler you were and I agreed and I thought we would have a good thing going together and we would have some excellent matches. We did some great work in the ring but we couldn’t get any wins especially when all the pressure was on us. I thought about what the problem was and I realized that it was you. You were too overbearing and you wanted us to get everything done your way. You treated all of our opponents like they were nobodies and just expected our abilities to overcome them. I knew better and I studied our opponents but I couldn’t overcome your arrogance and your clumsiness. I’ve had enough of it and tonight we settle it in the ring one on one like men.”

Daniels grabs the mic from Aries and takes it.

Daniels: “I don’t know what you are talking about, baby! I’m the man that brought this team together and made everything work. If you don’t like that it’s fine with me. If you don’t want to be a team anymore fine we won’t but I will get in this ring with you right now and prove that I am the better half of my tag team. Let’s do it right now!”

Daniels throws the mic down and the two men face off.

OA: 57

Guppie: “Wow! I don’t know who this mystery man who’s going to be facing off against N8 Mattson. Right now we have Austin Aries against Danny Daniels and this match could be just as good if not better.”

Patterson: “These two guys were just part of a tag team together and now they are combusting right in front of us.”

Guppie: “These two have experience with each other from their time as a team and they’re going to have to pull out some new moves if they want to win and surprise the other guy.”

Segment 4: Austin Aries vs. Danny Daniels

The two men face off in the middle of the ring and they lockup. Aries goes behind Daniels then takes out both legs from Daniels then jumps forward and gets him in a side headlock. Daniels slowly gets to his feet and picks Aries up for a belly to back suplex but Aries flips over backwards and lands on his feet. Daniels turns around and Aries grabs his left arm and goes into an arm wringer. Daniels rolls forward then grabs Aries arm and goes into an arm wringer of his arm. Aries rolls forward himself but Daniels trips him down to the mat then hits an leg drop across the arm of Aries. Daniels goes for a cross arm breaker on Aries but he locks his hands together and blocks it. Aries lifts Daniels up then drops him down with a powerbomb and Daniels breaks the hold. Both men get to their feet and face off again. Daniels charges with a clothesline but Aries ducks underneath it. Aries grabs Daniels and delivers a backdrop driver and Daniels rolls to the outside to recover. Aries walks to the ropes then launches himself over with a cross body block that sends both men to the floor. Daniels continues to work Aries over on the outside with some brawling using the guardrails and ringpost. Daniels rolls Aries into the ring and slides in behind him.

Daniels takes control of the match at that point and works Aries over wearing him down. Daniels focuses on the neck of Aries to set up his piledriver finisher. Daniels whips Aries over with a cradle belly to back suplex then makes the cover for a two count before Aries manages to barely lift a shoulder off the mat to his disappointment. Winner: Austin Aries (18:16)

Notes: **3/4

OA: 68 CR: 50 MQ: 86

Guppie: “What a contest between those two men! Aries took a lot of damage to the neck but when he managed to escape from the tombstone he really rattled Daniels.”

Patterson: “When you are able to escape a guys finisher it really throws them off their game and Daniels is no exception.”

Guppie: “Aries also did a nice job of working on the arm of Daniels then going after it to finish the match. This is where we are going to see the returning worker to the SMWA.”

Patterson: “Aries said it’s going to be a good opponent for N8 Mattson and I can think of one person in particular who that description fits but I’ll wait to see if I’m right.”

Segment 5: The Returner

Some gothic music hits and N8 Mattson walks out from backstage. He stalks down past the fans then enters the ring and takes the mic from the announcer.

Mattson: “Don’t get disappointed, I’m not the returning star. I’m just as interested in finding out who this guy is as well. I was looking forward to beating Austin Aries here in the ring and I was ready for that match and now I’ve got to face some surprise wrestler. If the management here in the SMWA think that a surprise opponent is going to throw me off my game they are dead wrong. I’m the best wrestler today and when powered by the righteous fury of my Lord there is no force that can stand up against.”

As Mattson ends that sentence the lights go out in the building then a spotlight turns on behind the entrance and back lights the figure as he walks to the ring and slides in. He faces off against Mattson and the lights come on revealing the person as Vito Thomaselli! Vito grabs the mic from Mattson then stares straight at him as he slowly raises the mic to his lips.

Vito: “You thought your little attack took me out of the equation did you? It takes more than that to keep me down and tonight you are going to find that out for real. You didn’t intimidate me before and you damn sure don’t intimidate me now. I took a short leave of the SMWA but I’m back now and I’m ready to finish this little thing between us now. I don’t know about you but I’m sick and tired of seeing you and I just want to finish this thing the right way.”

Mattson: “That’s fine by me Vito. Let’s do this right now!”

Mattson punctuates that statement by nailing Vito with the mic to start the match.

Segment 6: N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli

Vito falls down to his knees and Mattson delivers a stiff kick to the chest that sends Vito to his back and rolling out of the ring. Mattson charges with a suicide dive but Vito nails him with a European uppercut as he comes through the ropes. Vito pulls him to the outside and throws him hard into the guardrail. The two men brawl on the outside before Mattson counters a charge from Vito by sending him into the crowd with a backbody drop. Mattson hops over the rails and grabs a chair that was vacated by a fan. Vito starts to get up and Mattson brings the chair down across his back hard sending him back to the floor. Mattson sets four chairs facing each other then picks Vito up and powerslams him down across the chairs. Mattson yells at some of the fans before pulling Vito to his feet and Vito meets him with some hard punches then drop toeholds him onto one of the chairs. Vito grabs another chair and raises it up in the air as the crowd cheers. Mattson gets to his feet with some blood on his forehead and Vito blasts him with a big chairshot. Vito pulls a bloody Mattson to his feet then throws him back over the guardrail. Vito climbs onto the guardrail and comes off with a double axe handle as Mattson gets to his feet. OA: 64 CR: 51 MQ: 78

Guppie: “N8 Mattson gets a cheap victory over a returning Vito Thomaselli here tonight. Those two men were brawling all around the building and it ended with a fistful of tights by N8 Mattson.”

Patterson: “The matches between those two men has continued to escalate in violence and soon it’s just going to blow all over the place and it’s only a matter of time.”

Guppie: “It’s only a matter of time before that happens. The Havana Pitbulls are defending the SMWA Tag Team Titles against the Strong Brothers in this next match.”

Patterson: “This is going to be an exciting match. The Pitbulls are perhaps the toughest wrestlers on the indy scene today and the Strong Brothers have a nice combination of power and speed together.”

Segment 7: Havana Pitbulls© vs. Strong Brothers (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Rocky and Roderick start the match off as they face off in the middle of the ring. Rocky pegs Roderick with a kick to the midsection as Roderick blasts him with a chop and both men take a step back. They come at each other again and just unload on each other with some brutal forearms to each other. The two men just keep slamming at each other until they both fall to the mat and slowly get up to their feet. The two men trade looks of respect then both men tag out. Patterson: “We have new Tag Team Champions as the Strong Brothers have defeated the Havana Pitbulls in a hard hitting contest.”

Guppie: “The Pitbulls isolated Sedrick but when he tagged in Roderick he was too fresh for either Pitbull to handle and he just destroyed the back of Rocky with an all out attack on it.”

Patterson: “It’s what Roderick does best. It’s time for our main event next as Mikey Henderson challenges Bobby Quance in his first title defense.”

Guppie: “Mikey is more of a high flyer but he can go on the mat as well. Quance can work whatever style he feels like at the moment and that gives him a huge advantage.”

Guppie: “Bobby Quance retains the SMWA Championship with a well executed attack on the arm of Mikey Henderson.”

September 16, 2006

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentary: Mike Patterson

Guppie: “Welcome to SMWA’s Back to the Top show. I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined on commentary by Mike Patterson.”

Patterson: “You are and we have a big show lined up for you fans tonight. Bobby Quance defends the SMWA Championship in our main event against Vito Thomaselli. The Strong Brothers defend their newly won Tag Team Titles against the first champions Angeldust and Deranged.”

Guppie: “Paul London returns to the SMWA as he takes on B-Boy in what should be a great contest. N8 Mattson takes on Jimmy Rave as well.”

Patterson: “Michael Shane will be making his debut here as he takes on Josh Daniels and in our opening contest ‘Mister Six-Thirty’ Jerrelle Clark takes on Conrad Kennedy the Third.”

Guppie: “A nice back and forth match between those men and Conrad picks up his first win here in the SMWA.”

Patterson: “Clark threw out some nice moves and he lost out when those attacks didn’t land.”

Guppie: “Clark is known for his big moves and that was what he used to try and win this match. Up next we see the debut of Michael Shane as he takes on Josh Daniels.”

Patterson: “Shane is a tremendous talent but he’s taking on another great wrestler in Josh Daniels and this is going to be a tough match to call.”

Segment 2: The Shane Effect

Michael Shane walks out from the backstage and walks to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He slides into the ring then takes the mic from the announcer.

Shane: “I’m happy to be here in bumfuck, Michigan. I’ve always dreamed of coming to a rundown dump like this to wrestle in front of a bunch of inbred hicks. You fans don’t have any idea and can’t comprehend the greatness that is my wrestling ability. Tonight I take on Josh Daniels. People talk about this kid all over the place but he doesn’t have anywhere near the wrestling pedigree that I have. Shawn Michaels is my cousin. I was trained by him, William Regal and Rudy Boy. I have been trained by the best men that money can buy and now I’m here wrestling. You shitty fans are lucky that the owner of this promotion knows true talent and is willing to bring it in to wrestle for your limited intellects. Daniels tonight you won’t have any chance in the ring at all. Tonight is the time for you to fall on your face once again as I will start to ascend the ladder to the top here.”

Winner: Michael Shane (11:17)

OA: 51 CR: 29 MQ: 74

Guppie: “Michael Shane uses the dirty tactics that he is known for using. Daniels put the hurt on him but he kept fighting back. He may have taken the shortcut but he did show a lot of resiliency in that match.”

Patterson: “That was a nice clean match until Shane used the ropes at the end. Daniels has been on a losing streak and it really looked like he was going to end it here tonight.”

Guppie: “But he didn’t, he put on a good showing but it wasn’t good enough to beat Shane. Our next match is going to be a good one as N8 Mattson takes on Jimmy Rave.”

Patterson: “I don’t know who is going to pull the win out in this match. These guys are very evenly matched and they both know the basics very well.”

Mattson gets his arm caught and tries to fight it but can’t go anywhere and taps out.

Winner: Jimmy Rave (11:09)

Notes: **

OA: 64 CR: 49 MQ: 80

Guppie: “Normally Jimmy Rave likes to work on the arm before the finish but when you use a move like the cross armbreaker that’s all you need.”

Patterson: “Some people may be thinking that Mattson tapped out really quickly but that move bends your elbow the wrong way and you have no choice but to tap out right away or get your arm broken.”

Guppie: “A well fought match by both men and Rave proved to be the better man tonight. Our next match is one that many people consider a dream match as Paul London takes on B-Boy.”

Patterson: “Paul London is making his second appearance in the SMWA tonight and he’s facing a former champion.”

Guppie: “Paul London pulled out a close one there against B-Boy. B-Boy kept dropping him on his head but London refused to stay down and fired back with some big bumps of his own.”

Patterson: “The fans loved that match and so did I. Those two threw everything they had at each other in order to win the match.”

Guppie: “Indeed they did. Up next we have Roderick and Sedrick defending the SMWA Tag Team Championship against the first champions, Angeldust and Deranged.”

Patterson: “This is going to be a test of how much the Strongs have improved since the last time they faced this Special K team and they are going to have to bring their A-game to win.”

Deranged can’t go anywhere and taps out to the boston crab.

Winner: Strong Brothers (15:38)

Notes: **

OA: 62 CR: 42 MQ: 82

Guppie: “The Strong Brothers looked a lot more competent in their first title defense than when they won the belts. They had a lot more offense throughout the match and they didn’t rely on Roderick exploding near the end of the match and just devastating their opponents.”

Patterson: “Special K fights a more similar style so it’s easier for them to counter that kind of offense.”

Guppie: “Good point Mike. It’s main event time now and we have Bobby Quance defending the SMWA Championship against Vito Thomaselli.”

Patterson: “This is going to be a spectacular match between these two men. Bobby Quance has done a good job of holding that belt but tonight may be the night he loses it.”

Winner: Bobby Quance (18:18)

Notes: **1/2

OA: 66 CR: 47 MQ: 85

Guppie: “Both men did a fantastic job of picking a body part and working it the entire match. Vito went after that arm and almost got the submission with it several times but Quance’s work on the midsection of Vito proved to be more effective in the long run.”

Patterson: “Bobby Quance was really tested in that title defense and he came out on top looking very strong in that matchup.”

Segment 8: It’s On!

Quance helps Vito to his feet in the ring and shakes his hand and the two men hug in the middle of the ring. N8 Mattson comes running out from the back and slides into the ring and tackles Vito Thomaselli down and starts raining down punches on him. Mattson breaks it up and stares down Quance who backs off leaving Mattson alone as he takes the belt to the back with him. Mattson slides out of the ring and grabs a chair from ringside and slides back in. Vito gets to his feet and Mattson slams the chair into the midsection of Vito then follows up with a chairshot across the back that sends Vito to the mat. Mattson follows up with some chairshots across the back of Vito then calls for the mic and the ring announcer hands it to him.

Mattson: “Vito this isn’t over between us. I beat you last month but we both know that I cheated. I’m not ashamed of that but next month we will go one on one and we are going to have a special stipulation. Falls count anywhere. We both know that the issues between us can’t be settled easily and it’s going to take an all out fight to finish it and that’s what we will have next month. We can go all over whatever shithole arena we will be in and nobody is going to stop our fight. Blood will be shed and bodies will be broken but that is what we signed up for We are going to finish this thing between us and I promise that I will be the one that comes out on top.”

Vito has started to get up to his knees and Mattson grabs the chair and brings it down on the head of Vito dropping him back down to the mat. Mattson rolls out of the ring and walks back into the ring holding the chair above his head in victory.

OA: 49

Guppie: “What a heinous attack by N8 Mattson on Vito Thomaselli to end the show. He just laid Vito out with the aid of a chair.”

Patterson: “That is the kind of tactic we’ve seen N8 Mattson utilize before against Vito and it’s not much of a surprise but the announcement of that match is.”

Guppie: “It sure is and I hope you fans show up for that match. For Mike Patterson, I’m Brian Guppie thanks for watching.”

September 19, 2006

After scoring a big victory against Vito Thomaselli a couple of days ago Bobby Quance has decided to leave the SMWA as the champion. This time we will be without a champion for a couple of months as we will be using the Midwest Invitational Tournament to crown a new champion. We are sad to see Bobby Quance go as he was a great talent especially since he left with the belt. However we are moving on and bringing an even better show to make up for losing the champion.

As N8 Mattson announced at the last show a falls count anywhere match has been signed between him and Vito Thomaselli to take place on our next show and it is going to be a bloody brawl for sure.

The show is our annual Birthday Bash show and it is the third one of its kind. The show is taking place on October 17 and will be in Cadillac.

Birthday Bash III

October 17, 2006

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentary: Mike Patterson

Guppie: “Welcome to SMWA’s Birthday Bash Three. I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined on commentary by Mike Patterson as always.”

Patterson: “And we’ve got an awesome show lined up for you. Once again our champion has left us behind but we aren’t worried by that fact and we’ll be crowning a new champion with the Midwest Invitational Tournament. We have a huge main event as Paul London takes on Jimmy Rave.”

Guppie: “We have the Havana Pitbulls with a rematch against the Strong Brothers for the Tag Team Titles. Vito Thomaselli and N8 Mattson face off in a falls count anywhere match that is going to leave both men broken and bruised.”

Patterson: “Jimmy Jacobs will fight Hydro, Michael Shane and Matt Sydal face off and in our first match Jerrelle Clark takes on Delirious.”

Clark doesn’t take the beating sitting down and fires back with some forearms and drops Delirious with a brainbuster that leaves both men down on the mat. Clark gets to his feet first and starts his comeback on a roll as he takes Delirious back down with a leg lariat. Clark goes for a german suplex but Delirious blocks it then goes behind and drops Clark on his head with a release german suplex. Notes: *3/4

OA: 55 CR: 26 MQ: 84

Guppie: “Jerrelle Clark pulls out a big win against Delirious there. We saw him go for the six-thirty splash last month but this time he hit it and it won him the match.”

Patterson: “It is one impressive move that’s for sure and when he hits it the match is all over.”

Guppie: “Up next Michael Shane takes on Matt Sydal. Shane is able to capitalize on his opponent’s offense and use it to his advantage. Against Matt Sydal he’s going to have to watch out for a lot of high flying moves.”

Patterson: “Shane can throw some nice high flying moves of his own. This is going to be a nice match right here.”

Segment 2: Michael Shane vs. Matt Sydal

Shane tries to start the match off with a haymaker but Sydal ducks under the punch and nails Shane in the back of the neck with a forearm. Winner: Matt Sydal (11:43)

Notes: **

OA: 62 CR: 43 MQ: 82

Guppie: “Michael Shane cost himself that match. He got over confident and started arguing with the ref instead of following up on his advantage and Sydal recovered and got a quick win.”

Patterson: “Matt Sydal isn’t a wrestler you can relax against and Michael Shane just found that out the hardway.”

Guppie: “He sure did and he isn’t going to forget that lesson.”

Shane: “Tonight you fans see the birth of the greatest tag team ever, Michael Shane and Paul London. Shawn Michael’s two best students team up and we are going to show you fans that the Texas Wrestling Academy creates the best wrestlers anywhere. London is known for his high flying and I’m known for my strategy. Together our styles won’t be beaten.”

London: “That’s right. I’ve played nice with you fans for too long. Your cheers are nice to me but I know you don’t care about me or what happens to me. You pretend to care with your ‘please don’t die’ chant. You want me to go for those death defying moves that put my body on the line. You want to see me mess up one of those moves so you can see what’s going to happen. I’m not going to play that game with you guys anymore. I’m taking my shots where I can and none of them involve making you fans happy. I’m here to win and that’s what I’m going to do and I’m going to start tonight with Jimmy Rave, then I’m going to the SMWA Championship and along with Michael Shane we’re going to take the SMWA Tag Team Championship. You can deny it if you want but you’ll see that it’s the truth in time.”

OA: 62

Patterson: “Paul London has turned his back on the fans and he just decimated Matt Sydal. He steam rolled him as he walked to the back and then laid him out in the ring.”

Guppie: “London and Shane could indeed be a fearsome tag team. London may have turned his back on the fans but he has moved towards success with this choice.”

Patterson: “It was a heinous attack by London though. Up next we have Jimmy Jacobs taking on Hydro. Jacobs is making a return to the SMWA after an absence of a couple months.”

Guppie: “But he will have lots of trouble with the fearsome Hydro who can deliver some brutal offense in the ring.”

Notes: **1/4

OA: 63 CR: 42 MQ: 85

Guppie: “Both men put on a good match there. Hydro worked on the neck and Jacobs ended up hurting himself as well with that suicide dive and that was really the beginning of the end.”

Patterson: “Jacobs looked like he was rallying at the end but Hydro just dropped him with a dragon suplex to end the match.”

Guppie: “Up next we have a big match as Vito Thomaselli and N8 Mattson face off in a falls count anywhere match. This is going to be a bloody and brutal match no matter who wins.”

Patterson: “Vito is looking to get a lot of revenge in this match and Mattson is looking to finish what he started against Vito. This is going to be an important match.”

Patterson: “What the hell is Chance Beckett doing here in the SMWA! Vito Thomaselli eliminated him from the SMWA in a ladder match over a year ago.”

Guppie: “It seems Chance isn’t willing to let an old grudge go and he’s returned once again to wreak havoc on Vito.”

Segment 6: Ultimate Challenge

Chance Beckett calls for the ring announcer and takes the mic.

Beckett: “I know you fans were all afraid that I had left last year and wasn’t coming back but don’t worry I’m here. I know there is a little thing about me not being allowed to compete in the SMWA anymore but I have a challenge to lay out for that. Vito Thomaselli you beat me in a ladder match a while ago but I want back in. I want to extract some revenge. Next month the SMWA will be holding a tournament to crown a new champion. Vito I know you can’t hear me right now because I’m not sure if you are conscious but when you wake up I’m sure somebody will relay it to you. I want to face you in the first round. If I lose I guarantee that I will never come back here again. Not only will I not wrestle in the SMWA again I will not come in and attack you. No more costing you matches, no more attacking you. I will leave and not come back. If I win though I’m back for good. I’m going to be back in action in the SMWA and it’s going to be a new era here in the SMWA. If you don’t take me up on this offer you will continue to be the focus of my attacks and I will continue to bloody you in the ring and attack you in the back rooms. It’s not much of a choice but that’s not what I offer you. I will end my exile from the SMWA.”

Championship Tournament

www.smwawrestling.com

October 20, 2006

Birthday Bash III saw the return of Chance Beckett to the SMWA and on the first night of the third annual Midwest Invitational we may see Beckett’s return to action in the SMWA ring. Officials have approved Chance Beckett’s desire to wrestle Vito Thomaselli and Vito has accepted the challenge and the two men will face off in the first round of the tournament.

The stakes have been raised for the tournament this year. Before the winner got a shot at the title now they get the SMWA Championship. With a big prize on the line the best wrestlers wanted into the tournament. Unfortunately only 8 men could make it and here are the eight men and why they were selected.

Paul London - He may have just returned to the SMWA but he has already earned two big wins. He defeated former champion B-Boy on his return and he beat Jimmy Rave at the last show. He looks to keep his streak going for the tournament and gain the Championship.

Matt Sydal - He earned his shot at the title based on his performance at the last tournament when he went to the finals before losing to Bobby Quance.

N8 Mattson - A former champion and the winner of the first Midwest Invitational Tournament and a natural selection for this year’s tournament.

Vito Thomaselli - He won the tournament last year and he contends with N8 Mattson as both men want to be the first two time winner of the tournament. Plus he has a special challenge match against Chance Beckett.

Chance Beckett - Always a bride’s maid and never the bride for Chance. He gets a shot at getting a permanent position in the SMWA and becoming the champion in the same tournament. He’s been gone along time but he’s one of the most skilled indy wrestlers and he was a star in his time in the SMWA.

Mikey Henderson - The So-Cal representative in the tournament, Mikey had strong showings in his first two SWMA appearances and he gets a big chance to really prove his skill in the tournament.

Jimmy Rave - One of the hottest indy talents going, Rave will have a chance to get some big wins in the tournament.

Hydro - He may be overlooked by many because his matches are low on the card but they are always impressive as he goes after the neck of an opponent with a variety of big moves and submissions.

Those are the eight entrants into the tournament and the eight men vying for the SMWA Championship and any one of them would make a great champion. The official brackets will be announced on the first of November.

The show will be taking place in Grand Rapids on November 26, The second night of the tournament will be on December 2 in Cadillac.

Patterson: “Also in first round action we have Matt Sydal taking on N8 Mattson and Chance Beckett fighting Vito Thomaselli for a chance to get back into the SMWA.”

Guppie: “In our main event we have the Strong Brothers defending the SMWA Championship against Halo and Excalibur but we start the show off with what should be an excellent technical matchup as Greg Pawluk takes on John Walters.”

OA: 51 CR: 23 MQ: 80

Guppie: “John Walters went to work on the back of Greg Pawluk and he was out of the match quickly as Walters really damaged that back early.”

Patterson: “It’s hard to do much of anything with a sore back and that’s how John Walters got the win.”

Guppie: “Up next we have the first match of the first round in the third annual Midwest invitational tournament as we have Jimmy Rave taking on Hydro in what should be a close encounter.”

Patterson: “Rave likes to work on the arm of his opponent and Hydro knows how to go on the work of his opponent so it’s going to be a battle of who can do the most damage the quickest.”

Segment 2: Rave Reviews

Jimmy Rave walks down to the ring and slides in then grabs a mic from the announcer.

Rave: “I’ve been in this promotion for quite some time and I’ve had my ups and downs. Tonight though I start on the upward portion. I’ve lost to a couple of people here and there but they are some of the best wrestlers in the promotion. Tonight I have to face Hydro and after that I’m moving on to the second round of this tournament and then to the finals. I’m going to win and I’m going to win the SMWA Championship and I’m going to prove myself as a wrestler. Hydro is a tough opponent but I’m going to take him apart piece by piece and win the match. Hydro come down here to this ring and I’m going to give you an ass whooping you’ll never forget!”

OA: 66

But he’s faced me in the ring and we both know that he doesn’t have what it takes to hang with me. Last month you jumped me and cost me my match against N8 Mattson. Tonight I’m getting some revenge. I don’t want you back here in the SMWA and I’m not going to lose this match and let you back in. I drove you out of here and you’re not coming back. I’m getting the SMWA Championship belt around my waist once again and I’m not going to have it stolen away from me. I’ve been beaten and cheated but tonight it starts to change and Saturday I’m moving on to win the SMWA Championship and become the first two time champion.”

Guppie: “The ref really let those two men get away with quite a bit in that match.”

Patterson: “Those two men have a lot of history behind them and they weren’t going to settle that issue with a normal match. We know what they did to each other in the ladder match that led to Chance Beckett being run out of the SMWA.”

Guppie: “That’s a good point. Those two went around the arena brawling but then they brought it back to the ring where both men are at their best and they both came close tow inning the match several times.”

Segment 8: Climb to the Top

Chance Beckett pulls himself to his feet using the ropes and allows the ref to raise his arm in victory. Beckett then calls for the announcer to bring him the mic.

Beckeet: “Vito you talked a lot about how you were going to beat me just before this match but you were dead wrong. I told you before our ladder match that I wasn’t putting my career on the line in a match I didn’t expect to win and that holds true today as well. I knew that I was the better man and I knew that I would get my spot back. Tonight not only have I won my spot but I’ve won a spot in the semi-finals for the SMWA Championship and Saturday I’m going to win again and become the champion. It is my destiny to win that belt. That destiny will be fulfilled that is for sure and as for you. Well, you know where your place is now don’t you?”

Beckett throws the mic down on the prone body of Vito then rolls out of the ring and walks to the back.

OA: 65

Guppie: “Chance Beckett definitely earned his spot here in the SMWA with that match against Vito Thomaselli.”

Patterson: “He sure did and now it’s time for our main event. The Tag Team Titles are on the line as the Strong Brothers face the new team of Halo and Excalibur.”

Guppie: “Halo and Excalibur are a new team but both men are excellent wrestlers and it should be interesting to see how they gel but I don’t know if that will be enough to take on the tag team champions who are brothers and a very experienced team together.”

Guppie: “Another victory for the Strong Brothers and I think that match was a little closer than anybody expected it to be.”

Patterson: “Halo and Excalibur may not be a team but they were working pretty well together in that match.”

Guppie: “But it wasn’t enough to beat the tag team champions and that’s what matters. We’ll be in Grand Rapids Saturday to finish off the tournament and I hope all you fans show up.”

Patterson: “It should be an awesome show. Be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for info on upcoming shows and all your favorite wrestlers. For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson thanks for watching.”

Guppie: “It’s the second night of action here for the third annual Midwest Invitational Tournament. I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined by Mike Patterson on commentary and tonight we crown a new SMWA Champion.”

Patterson: “And that man will also be the winner of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. In first round action we have Paul London facing Matt Sydal and Jimmy Rave challenging Chance Beckett.”

Guppie: “The Strong Brothers will be defending the SMWA Tag Team Championships against the Special K team of Hydro and Angledust. In non-tournament action we have Vito Thomaselli taking on Deranged and our opening match pitting Danny Daniels against Greg Pawluk.”

Guppie: “Daniels coming out with a big win in this match. He was off balance n the beginning of the match with the damage Pawluk had done to his arm.”

Patterson: “Luckily though he fired back beforePawluk could really grab a submission to end the match.”

Guppie: “Our next match is a rematch from earlier this year as Deranged takes on Vito Thomaselli.”

Patterson: “These two had a close match last time they fought and maybe Deranged is going to be able to pull out a win this time.”

Segment 2: Golden Future

Vito walks out from the back to the cheers of the crowd. He walks to the ring and slides in then takes the mic from the announcer.

Vito: “I lost my first round match to Chance Beckett and he was right. He was the better man in that match and he came out on top and he deserves the win and his spot back in the SMWA. I talked too much before that match and I was distracted instead of just going out there and fighting the match to win. Chance you may have beaten me last week but I’m going to be coming back for that belt and you can rest assured that it is going to be around my waist once again. Tonight I face Deranged. I’ve beaten Deranged earlier this year but I remember the fight he put up. I remember how I underestimated him but luckily I was able to pull out the win still. This time we know each other a little better and a win is going to be hard to come by. One man will get their hand raised in victory and I’m going to make sure that person is me.”

Guppie: “A close match and those two men really pulled everything out. Rave targeted the left arm of Beckett but Beckett went after the neck and Rave was really weakened by those attacks.”

Patterson: “It’s a lot easier to wrestle with an injured arm then it is to wrestle with an injured neck and that’s why Beckett was able to keep going while Rave was working on the arm the entire match.”

Guppie: “We’ll be seeing Chance Beckett take on Matt Sydal for the SMWA Championship in our main event but now it’s time for the Strong Brothers to defend the Tag Team Titles against Hydro and Angeldust.”

Patterson: “Angeldust usually tags with Deranged but he had a singles match earlier in the night. They also lost to the Strong Brothers in their match last time and Special K is changing things up tonight looking to win those titles back.”

Segment 6: Strong Brothers ©vs. Hydro & Angeldust (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Sedrick and Hydro start the match off and they lockup in the middle of the ring. Lethal goes behind with a rear waistlock and picks Sedrick up and slams him down face first to the mat then spins around into a front facelock. Sedrick gets up to his feet and hits Hydro with some knee lifts to the midsection then hits vertical suplex. Sedrick floats over with a cover and gets a long one count. Sedrick pulls Hydro up to his feet and whips him into the ropes and Hydro drops him with a shoulder tackle then tags in Angeldust. Angeldust comes in with a sprinboard and Sedrick hits him in the face with a dropkick. Sedrick grabs Angeldust with an arm wringer then walks to his corner and tags in Roderick who comes in and drops an elbow on the shoulder of Angeldust. Roderick picks Angeldust up and drops him with a shoulder breaker then grabs an armbar. Angeldust slowly crawls to the ropes to break up the hold. The Strongs keep Angeldust in their corner and work on his left arm. Sedrick takes Angeldust down with a single arm DDT then rolls Angeldust over and traps the leg for a long two count until Hydro breaks up the cover. Hydro pulls Sedrick up to his feet and hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. Roderick comes in but the ref holds him back and Hydro pulls Angeldust to his corner and tags himself in. Hydro comes in and drops Sedrick with a german suplex and bridges it for a two count.

Hydro hits Roderick with a back elbow that sends him off the apron and to the mat. Hydro pulls Sedrick up to his feet and drops him with a brainbuster then grabs him with an STF. Sedrick tries to crawl to the ropes but can’t get anywhere and Roderick slides into the ring then drops an elbow to the back of Hydro to break up the hold. Hydro and Roderick face off in the middle of the ring and they start unloading on each other with forearms and chops. Hydro takes the advantage when he nails Roderick with a knee to the groin and then throws him out of the ring. Hydro pulls Sedrick up to his feet and Sedrick grabs him and delivers a swinging neckbreaker that leaves both men down. Sedrick crawls to his corner and tags in Roderick. Hydro gets up to his feet and Roderick clobbers him with a big lariat and Hydro rolls to his corner and tags in Angledust. Angeldust comes into the ring and Roderick kicks him in the midsection and picks him up for a powerbomb then drops him down into a big shoulder breaker Scott Norton style. Hydro gets up to his feet on the apron and Roderick charges and nails him with a rolling forearm that sends him crashing into the guardrails. Roderick grabs the arm of Angeldust and locks in a cross armbreaker and Angledust taps out.

Winner: Strong Brothers (14:54)

OA: 54 CR: 41 MQ: 81

Guppie: “Sedrick and Roderick showed what makes them a great tag team in that match. Roderick worked on the arm of Angeldust with sheer power and Sedrick used finesse.”

Patterson: “They blend well as a team and they just know how to work with each other.”

Guppie: “It’s time for our main event next as Chance Beckett takes on Matt Sydal for the SMWA Championship.”

Patterson: “We might have to wait a while for that match as Deranged is coming down to the ring and joining Angeldust and Hydro.”

Segment 7: Dissolution

Deranged slides into the ring with a mic and faces off with Hydro.

Deranged: “Aren’t you supposed to be our leader Hydro? Aren’t you supposed to get things done for Special K? I’ve seen you get some changes to make your name here in the SMWA but ever since Angeldust and I lost the Tag Team Titles we’ve faded into the background. Hydro we chose you to be the leader because you could be our voice but you haven’t led us anywhere. You did a good job in the six man tag but that was almost a year ago and since then we’ve all flailed out on our own.”

Angeldust: “That’s right Hydro. Tonight you had a chance to redeem yourself in this match for the tag team titles and you failed. We thought you would be the leader after Slim J left but we were wrong and tonight you failed our belief.”

Angeldust throws the mic at Hydro and Deranged charges and hits Hydro with a spinning front kick that sends him to the mat. Angeldust and Deranged stomp away at Hydro in the middle of the ring. They leave Hydro laying in the mat as they walk to the back.

OA: 49

Patterson: “It looks like Special K has collapsed here tonight. Hydro is on his own now but I guess Deranged and Angeldust will still be working as a tag team.”

Guppie: “With the lifestyle those guys live it’s not a surprise that they self destructed. It’s time for our main event now and it pits Chance Beckett against Matt Sydal in the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament battling for the SMWA Championship.”

Patterson: “This tournament has boosted the careers of N8 Mattson and Vito Thomaselli who have both won it and one of these men is going to get a huge boost when they win the gold.”

Guppie: “Going into this match Matt Sydal has an advantage as he’s had more time to rest and London wasn’t able to focus his attack while Jimmy Rave really tore at the arm of Chance and we’ll see if he’s had enough time to recover.”

Segment 8: Matt Sydal vs. Chance Beckett (SMWA Championship)

The two men face off and lockup in the middle of the ring and Sydal goes behind Beckett with a hammerlock. Beckett ducks under and turns it into a top wristlock and forces Sydal down to a knee. Sydal gets up and rolls forward then turns and jumps up with a hurrincanranna that takes Beckett over. Beckett gets up to his feet and Sydal takes him over with a Japanese armdrag. Beckett rubs his left arm as Sydal casually gets to his feet. Sydal moves forward and Beckett ducks down and picks the left leg of Sydal and trips him down to the mat and then goes into a single leg crab but Sydal is quick to crawl forward and grab the ropes to break the hold up. Sydal gets to his feet using the ropes while Beckett watches him with a big grin on his face. Sydal pulls himself up using the ropes. Sydal moves forward and Beckett goes for a leg pick but Sydal meets him with a knee to the face that drops Beckett to the mat. Sydal spins over and grabs Beckett with a crossface but Beckett manages to crawl forward and grab the bottom rope forcing the break. Sydal pulls Beckett up from behind and gets a rear waistlock but Beckett wraps his arms around the ropes and Sydal rolls backwards to his feet and Beckett catches him with a dropkick to the leg. Beckett grabs the left leg of Sydal and wraps him up with the figure four but Sydal manages to slowly crawl backwards and grab the ropes. Beckett controls the match as he works on the leg of Sydal and keeps him grounded. Beckett whips Sydal into the ropes and Sydal falls forward on his weakened left leg. Beckett moves forward to grab him and Sydal rolls him up for a quick two count.

Both men get up to their feet and Sydal drops Beckett with a single arm DDT. Sydal climbs up to the top rope and stops to check his leg and Beckett gets up and climbs up to the second rope and grabs the left leg of Sydal and dragonscrews him off the top rope. Beckett grabs the leg of Sydal and goes for the figure four but Sydal pushes him off with his free foot. Beckett bounces off the ropes and Sydal rolls him up for a two count. Beckett rolls through up to his feet and hits Sydal with a seated dropkick to the face. Beckett makes a cover and gets a two count. Beckett pulls Sydal up to his feet and goes for a vertical suplex but Sydal flips over and lands behind Beckett and takes him over with a german suplex dropping him on his head and leaving both men down on the mat. Sydal gets to his feet at six and pulls Beckett up. Sydal goes for a single arm DDT but Beckett counters it into an STO backbreaker. Beckett grabs the left leg of Sydal and flips him over into a single leg crab. Beckett plants his knee on the back of Sydal’s head and really cranks back on the hold and Sydal taps out.

Winner: Chance Beckett (18:32)

Notes: *3/4

OA: 55 CR: 47 MQ: 77

Patterson: “And Chance Beckett is the new SMWA Champion! He beat Matt Sydal in a close contest for the belt.”

Guppie: “Chance Beckett did have the sore arm going into this match but he was able to work around it and he went after the leg of Matt Sydal and he couldn’t wrestle without his leg.”

Patterson: “Sydal had to hesitate on the top rope to check his leg late in the match and instead of getting a big move Chance took him off the top with a big dragonscrew.”

Guppie: “That’s the kind of action we are going to see from the SMWA Champion in the future as well. Fans be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for information on future shows and updates on your favorite wrestlers. For Mike Patterson, I’m Brian Guppie thanks for watching.”

A New Champion, A New Challenge

www.smwawrestling.com

December 9, 2006

Chance Beckett defied the odds in the Midwest Invitational Tournament. He earned his spot back in the SMWA and he won the SMWA Championship while he was at it defeating three great opponents in Vito Thomaselli, Jimmy Rave and Matt Sydal. The SMWA has also reached a new plateau as our fan base is increasing by leaps and bounds and we are now being ranked in the Regional division of wrestling promotions by many wrestling magazines and the promotion and our title has gained more prestige and worth.

With the increase in prestige we are going to be bringing in some bigger names to compete as we are able to attract the attention of some of the elite independent wrestlers and one of those is CM Punk who will be appearing on our January show, Mayhem..

Jay Lethal, formerly known as Hydro, will be getting a shot at the SMWA Champion, Chance Beckett. More matches and information on the January show will be Mayhem is being held on January 20 in Detroit. More matches and card information will be up soon.

Mayhem (Detroit)

January 20, 2007

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentary: Mike Patterson

Guppie: “Welcome to SMWA Mayhem! I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined on commentary by Mike Patterson. We’ve got a lot of big matches here tonight and our main event is going to be huge as Vito Thomaselli and N8 Mattson face off in a last man standing match.”

Patterson: “We also have Chance Beckett defending the SMWA Championship against Jay Lethal and the Strong Brothers defending the SMWA Tag Team Championship against the team of Special K.”

Guppie: “For those fans who don’t know Jay Lethal was known as Hydro but he broke up with Special K at the last show and is taking his wrestling more seriously now. We have CM Punk and Sonjay Dutt making their debuts against B-Boy and Jimmy Rave in a four corners match.”

Patterson: “We have Danny Daniels and Matt Sydal facing off and in our first match Black Dragon takes on the technical expert John Walters.”

Segment 1: Black Dragon vs. John Walters

The two men face off in the ring and lockup. Dragon takes the advantage with a hammerlock but Walters reverses behind with a hammerlock of his own. He breaks the hold and slams a series of forearms into the small of Dragon’s back. Dragon staggers forward then turns and catches a charging Walters with a forearm flattening him to the mat. Dragon pulls Walters to his feet and takes him over with a snap suplex. Dragon takes control of the match and starts to work Walters over with some nice suplexes and a junior style of wrestling. Walters is reeling from the quick offense of Dragon. Dragon hits a nice belly to back suplex and bridges it for a long two count that seems to catch Walters off guard. Walters rolls up to his feet and Dragon goes for a vertical suplex but Walters lands behind him and takes him down with double knees to the back of Dragon. Walters takes control of the match and goes to work on the back of Dragon for an extended time. Walters whips Dragon into the ropes and goes for a lariat but Dragon ducks underneath it. He bounces off the ropes and catches Walters with a big leg lariat. Dragon fights back and backs Walters into the corner with some knife edge chops then sets him up on the top rope. Dragon goes for a hurrincanranna but Walters catches Dragon and pulls him back up then jumps off with a powerbomb. Walters can’t capitalize right away but he pulls himself together and goes for the cover and gets a close two count. Walters gets up then grabs the legs of Dragon and wraps them up and locks in the sharpshooter. Dragon slowly makes his way to the ropes but Walters walks forward and sits down on the hold in the middle of the ring and Dragon taps out.

Winner: John Walters (10:32)

Notes: 3/4*

OA: 49 CR: 27 MQ: 72

Guppie: “Walters did a nice job of working the back of Black Dragon and setting up for that sharpshooter.”

Patterson: “Even when he was taking a beating he was able to come back by going after the back and sticking to his game plan and keeping cool under pressure is a key to becoming successful in the wrestling business.”

Guppie: “Up next we have Danny Daniels taking on Matt Sydal. These guys have met before and traded some victories. Sydal is coming off getting to the finals in the Midwest Invitational Tournament and Daniels hasn’t really competed in the SMWA for quite some time.”

Patterson: “But that doesn’t make him any less formidable. Daniels competes for lots of promotions and has spent quite a bit of time as the IWA Mid-South Champion. This match could go either way.”

Segment 2: Danny Daniels vs. Matt Sydal

The two men face off in the ring and Sydal goes for a lockup but Daniels delivers a big punch to the face instead. Daniels steps forward and lands a forearm then takes Sydal over with a vertical suplex. Daniels gets up to his feet and Sydal jumps up and takes him over with a ‘ranna. Sydal makes a cover and gets a short two count. The two men go back and forth in the match trading moves with both men getting some near falls. Sydal goes for a suplex but Daniels blocks it then goes behind Sydal with a rear waistlock and takes him over with a straight jacket german suplex and bridges it for a two count. Sydal gets up to his feet again but Daniels takes him down with a DDT and covers him for another two count before Sydal gets a foot on the ropes. Daniels goes for another german suplex but Sydal fights out of it with some back elbows. Sydal bounces off the ropes and goes for a springboard moonsault but Daniels catches him and drops him with an inverted piledriver. Daniels makes the cover and gets a three count.

Winner: Danny Daniels (9:42)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 61 CR: 47 MQ: 76

Guppie: “A quick onslaught of high impact moves captures the match for Danny Daniels and the inverted piledriver he used at the end was brutal.”

Patterson: “Daniels is known for his devastating piledrivers and that one he used on Sydal was truly brutal.”

Guppie: “Well up next we have a big four corner match. CM Punk, Jimmy Rave, Sonjay Dutt and B-Boy face off in what should be an exciting match.”

Patterson: “It’s one fall to a finish in this match so everybody is looking to get the pinfall and stopping the others from getting it themselves.”

Segment 3: Straight Edge

CM Punk walks down to the ring as Miseria Cantare - The Beginning plays. Punk is greeted by a mix of boos and cheers. He slides into the ring and takes the mic from the announcer.

Punk: “In case you people don’t know, and since we’re in a backwater state like Michigan that’s not hard to believe. I am CM Punk and I’m drug free. I’m straight edge and that means that I’m better than you. I look into this crowd here in Detroit and I can’t but be overwhelmed by a feeling of superiority. All you people here probably work in the factories down town working horrible hours at a job you hate. Then you get home and you drink away your sorrows or perhaps use an even more potent drug. Trust me I know, I went through downtown on mistake and I could see the crack heads and crack dealers just walking around all over the place. You fans are the biggest gathering of drug addled morons I’ve seen in a long time. B-Boy, Sonjay Dutt, Jimmy Rave, you guys maybe some of the biggest names on the indy scene but you aren’t on my level. Tonight you three will fall before me as so many people have before. I deliver perfection in this ring and you guys are weaklings who can’t compare to me. This is real, this is straight edge and that means that I’m better than you!”

OA: 61

Segment 4: Jimmy Rave vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. B-Boy vs. CM Punk

Punk and Dutt start the match off and Rave takes Punk over with an armdrag. Punk gets up to his feet and Dutt goes for another armdrag but Punk blocks it and rocks Dutt with a forearm. Punk pulls B-Boy up and hits him with a double underhook backbreaker and makes a cover for two before Rave grabs him by the feet and pulls him out of the ring. Rave and Punk trade some forearms on the outside and Rave drop toeholds Punk into the ringpost. Rave gets up on the apron and charges to make an attack but Dutt catches him with a clothesline from the inside that drops Rave on the apron. Dutt climbs up to the top rope and goes for a phoenix splash but B-Boy rolls out of the way allowing Dutt to crash and burn. B-Boy pulls Dutt up to his feet and drops him with a cross special brainbuster. B-Boy gets up to a knee and Punk runs into the ring and catches him with a shining wizard. Punk covers Dutt and gets a two count before Rave breaks up the cover with a stomp to the back of the head.

Punk and Rave start throwing some brutal forearms at each other and the stalemate goes on until Dutt gets to his feet and smashes the two mens’ heads together and both men stagger backwards. Dutt grabs Punk from behind and drops him with a belly to back suplex and B-Boy grabs Rave behind dropping him on his head with a release german suplex. The four men are all in the ring and they all start throwing big impact moves on each other looking to score the pinfall but the covers keep getting broken up. Rave manages to clock B-Boy with a big knee to the face only to have Punk charge and hit him with a shining wizard and Rave rolls out of the ring. Dutt starts climbing to the top rope but Punk charges and hits him with a forearm shot to the back. Punk climbs up to the top rope on the outside and hooks Dutt’s arms then takes him off the top rope with a Pepsi Plunge and slams Dutt down on B-Boy. Punk rolls Dutt over and hooks the leg for a three count as Rave dives to make the save.

Winner: CM Punk (16:55)

Notes: *1/2

OA: 62 CR: 48 MQ: 76

Guppie: “What a chaotic match between those four men and did you see the way Rave and Punk were acting towards each other?”

Patterson: “I didn’t know those two had anything against each other but they both looked like they were ready to kill.”

Guppie: “After that insane match it’s time for the Tag Team Titles to be defended as Special K try once again to win the belts that they held for so long.”

Patterson: “The Strong Brothers are working on having a reign as long as Special K and just as dominant.”

Segment 5: Strong Brothers ©vs. Special K (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Roderick and Deranged start the match and Deranged gets right up in Roderick’s face and Roderick pie faces him back. Deranged charges at him and Roderick knocks him out of his boots with a thunderous knife edge chop. Deranged backs into his corner still seated and tags in Angeldust. Angeldust looks around before he steps into the ring. He charges forward and Roderick swings a lariat but Angeldust ducks it and bounces off the ropes and runs into a spinning forearm right to the head and falls to the mat. Roderick pulls Angeldust up to his feet and throws him into the corner and just unloads on him with a series of chops and forearms before tagging in Sedrick. Sedrick snapmares Angeldust out of the corner then flips over with a neck whip to follow it up. Sedrick stays in control of the match and just wears Angeldust down with some submission holds and suplexes. Sedrick throws Angeldust for a german suplex but Angeldust lands on his feet and gets to his corner tagging in Deranged.

Deranged comes in with a springboard dropkick that drops Sedrick and makes the cover for a two count. Deranged takes control of the match with some fast paced offense on Sedrick and then starts to isolate him with Angeldust in their corner. Deranged goes for a tornado DDT on Sedrick off the corner but Sedrick blocks it as Deranged tries to take him down and Sedrick reverses it into a release northern lights suplex that sends Deranged crashing into the corner. Sedrick gets to his feet and dives to tag in Roderick. Roderick comes in and just lays into both members of Special K with big forearms and chops and a Angeldust rolls to the outside after Roderick grabs his head and sends a series of big forearms home on the side of his head. Roderick catches Deranged going for a crossbody block and drops him across his knee with a brutal backbreaker. Roderick follows up with a brutal powerbomb and folds Deranged up for the cover and gets a two count as Deranged manages to kick out. Roderick picks Deranged up again and this time hits him with a spinal shock. Roderick makes the cover and gets a three count this time.

Winner: Strong Brothers (11:42)

Notes: **1/2

OA: 66 CR: 47 MQ: 85

Guppie: “Once again we see the power of Roderick Strong really come into effect in a Tag Title Defense by those two. Roderick was able to really dominate the Special K team with his strikes and back breakers.”

Patterson: “Roderick is just bigger than a lot of wrestlers and that gives him a big advantage in the ring against them as far as power goes and Sedrick is able to handle more of the speed aspect of the team and they mix so well together.”

Guppie: “And that is what makes them the SMWA Tag Team Champions. Our next match is the first of two main events we have tonight as Chance Beckett defends the SMWA Championship against Jay Lethal.”

Patterson: “This is the first time these two have locked up in the SMWA and it should be a really exciting match to watch unfold.”

Segment 6: The New Champ

Chance Beckett walks out from backstage with the SMWA Championship belt around his waist. He ignores the cat calls of the fans and slides into the ring and takes the mic from the announcer.

Chance: “You see this belt right here? This ten pounds of gold mark me as the best man here in the SMWA and I earned this belt with sweat and blood. Vito Thomaselli when you fought me in the first round you said you were going to beat me and keep me out of the SMWA. Not only did I beat you, I won the entire tournament and I got the belt around my waist! This belt was something that eluded me when I was in the SMWA earlier but not anymore. Now I am the champ, the man on the top. I’m the man everybody is gunning for and you know what? I like that feeling. It lets me know that I’m the man on the top of totem pole. Tonight Jay Lethal is gunning for me and frankly I’m not worried. I’ve seen Jay’s offense and I know what it is and I know that not only can I avoid it but I can do it better myself. Jay you may be great at working the neck but I can work any body part and I will work any body part. I step into this ring with the belt and I’m going to be walking out of here tonight with the belt on as well.”

Beckett then whips Lethal into the corner and drapes his left leg over the middle turnbuckle and kicks away at the knee until the ref backs him up. Beckett comes back in and Lethal fights him off with a series of forearms. Lethal lifts himself up onto the second rope and gets ready to deliver a move but Beckett grabs his left leg and dragonscrews him off the ropes. Beckett grabs the leg of Lethal and gets a single leg crab and plants his knee on the back of Lethal’s head. Lethal fights against the hold but can’t go anywhere and taps out.

Winner: Chance Beckett (18:18)

Notes: ****

Guppie: “That’s the same move he used to beat Matt Sydal to win the belt and he does a great job with that hold. He takes a normal single leg crab but adds some leverage and torques the neck as well with the knee to the back of the head.”

Patterson: “Jay Lethal had some nice offense in that match and he was looking good on the mat but Beckett used some shady tactics to gain the advantage and when Lethal missed that knee drop it was all over for him.”

Guppie: “Chance Beckett will continue his reign as SMWA Champion but our next match will crown which of these men has been the MVP of the SMWA as these men have been with use for almost the entire time of our existence. N8 Mattson and Vito Thomaselli face off in a last man standing match.”

Patterson: “These guys have been having some brutal matches already and with this last man standing stipulation it’s going to be even worse and there is going to be blood spilt and bodies broken in this match.”

Segment 8: N8 Mattson vs. Vito Thomaselli (Last Man Standing)

Vito comes out from backstage and Mattson charges behind him and drops him with a lariat to the back of the head. Mattson pulls Vito up and powerslams him down on the floor. Vito slowly gets to his feet and Mattson grabs him and runs him to the ring and rolls him in. Mattson springboards in with a dropkick but Vito moves out of the way and Mattson crashes to the mat. Mattson gets up and Vito snapmares him over and delivers a sharp kick to the spine. Mattson gets up grabbing his back and Vito clotheslines him in the back sending him over the ropes to the outside. Mattson gets up to his feet and Vito charges and dives through the ropes with a suicide dive that sends both men crashing into the guardrails. Vito gets to his feet first and pulls Mattson to his feet and irish whips him and Mattson slams into the guardrails hard. The two men continue to brawl in the ringside area and they go back and forth using the guardrails for extra damage. Mattson ducks a punch from Vito then grabs him by the back of the head and runs him right into the ringpost. Vito gets to his feet with blood starting to drip down his forehead. Vito checks his head with his hand and looks at the blood dazed and Mattson follows with a running kick to the face that flattens Vito and Mattson commands the ref to start counting and he gets a six count.

Mattson rolls Vito back into the ring then grabs a chair from the ringside area and throws it into the ring. He grabs another chair then slides into the ring. Vito is starting to get to his feet and Mattson prepares a chairshot but Vito gets to his feet and springs up with a dropkick that sends the chair into the face of Mattson. Vito grabs the chair and shoves it into the corner between the middle and bottom rope. He then pulls Mattson foward and drop toeholds him face first into the chair. Vito pulls Mattson’s head up and slams it into the chair repeatedly and Mattson falls to the mat with blood covering his entire forehead. Vito pulls Mattson up into a fireman’s carry and drops him with a DVD. The ref starts the count and gets to 9 before Mattson makes it to his feet. Vito pulls Mattson up and gets a low blow for his trouble. Mattson grabs the head of Vito and rains down punches on the forehead opening the cut and causing more blood to flow down the face of Vito. Mattson pulls him up into a stalling vertical suplex and holds him up long enough for blood to start dripping to the mat before dropping him to the mat with a brainbuster. Mattson gets to his feet and staggers backwards leaning against the corner and tells the ref to start counting. The ref gets to 9 before Vito gets to his feet using the ropes. Mattson charges and puts him down with a yakuza kick then slides out of the ring and pulls a table out and sets it up next to the apron.

Mattson slides into the ring and controls Vito wearing him down some more before setting him up on the top rope. Mattson climbs up the ropes on the outside and tries to go for a superplex to the outside but Vito blocks it and hits his own superplex that takes Mattson back into the ring. Both men are down for an 8 count from the ref. Both men stagger to their feet and they trade some forearms in the middle of the ring. Mattson rocks Vito with a forearm to the forehead that knocks some blood and sweat off his forehead. Mattson takes Vito out onto the apron and grabs him with a rear waistlock and goes for the german suplex through the table ringside but Vito fights it off with some back elbows then drops Mattson with a DDT on the apron. Vito folds the table up and slides it into the ring and he follows in behind it. Vito sets it up near one of the corners then levels Mattson with a clothesline as he rolls into the ring and gets to his feet. Vito pulls Mattson over to the chair in the ring and goes for a piledriver on it but Mattson reverses it with a backbody drop. Vito slowly gets to his feet and Mattson wallops him over the head with a brutal chairshot that levels him. Mattson pulls Vito to his feet and takes him to the corner delivering punches to the forehead as he goes. Mattson sets Vito up on the top rope near the table then climbs up with him. Mattson hits a couple of forearms then goes for a superplex but Vito blocks it and hits Mattson with some forearms to the midsection. Vito picks Mattson up into a fireman’s carry. Vito jumps off the top rope with a death valley driver through the table. The ref starts to count both men down. Vito slowly gets to his feet and makes it up at 9 but Mattson stays down for the ten count making Vito the winner.

Guppie: “Vito Thomaselli won that brutal match with a big DVD off the top rope through a table. N8 Mattson could be seriously injured from that.”

Patterson: “Both men are going to need immediate medical attention for those cuts if nothing else. Vito’s didn’t start off too bad but Mattson just pounded away at it and Mattson’s face was almost completely covered in blood after Vito slammed his face into the chair repeatedly.”

Guppie: “That match was definitely not for the faint of heart. Those two men pulled out all the stops to become the winner of the match and the feud and Vito managed to pull out the biggest move of the match.”

Patterson: “Mattson even went for the german suplex off the apron through the table that he has used to finish several opponents but Vito had it scouted and managed to avoid it.”

Guppie: “Fans, thanks for watching. For Mike Patterson, I’m Brian Guppie, thanks for watching. Be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for information on upcoming cards and info on your favorite wrestlers including updates on the conditions of Vito Thomaselli and N8 Mattson.”

I'm starting school again so updates might be a little bit slower than before because I've got lots to read and write. I'll keep it going but it will probably be slower than it is now.
