Roadblock For Orton

Feb. 3, 2006

Randy Orton encountered a bump in the Road to Wrestlemania 22 which eventually turned into a roadblock. Chris Benoit was taking on JBL when Randy Orton decided to show up. After Benoit was dazed by a Diving Headbutt to JBL, Orton took a steel chair across Benoit’s skull. Orton then prepared for the RKO but Benoit reversed it into a Crippler Crossface. He quickly released it afterwards and bashed Orton’s back with the steel chair several times. Benoit then locked on the Sharpshooter making Orton tap out. He would not release the hold until medics and security rushed into the ring. Even then Benoit locked on the Sharpshooter several before getting taken away by security.

They then informed Theodore Long backstage while carrying him out on a stretcher that he would be unable to compete tonight. The Smackdown! GM then said he had no choice but to postpone Orton’s match against until further notice. Network Executive Palmer Cannon would then inform Teddy Long about a “backup plan” inside his office.

Interestingly, Batista refused the challenge issued to him by Mark Henry in order to face him in a steel cage. He said that the last time they were in a cage, Henry completely destroyed him. Batista said it wouldn’t be in his best interest to go back there again. However, he had to prove something to Mark Henry, Batista admitted that it was a steel chair that beat Henry at the Royal rumble, now it was time for him to beat Henry himself. Batista challenged Henry to the second ever “Barbed Wire Steel Cage” match at No Way Out for the World Heavyweight title.

Mark Henry accepted the challenge, he claimed that Batista would eventually realize in the match that he cannot beat Henry. Batista will then try to escape but his flesh will get ripped to shreds when he tries it. Mark Henry took out his anger out on The Undertaker, giving him a run for his money. Batista would come down to ringside, drawing Mark Henry’s attention. The Deadman would then have the chance to turn things around. He planted Henry with the Choke Slam and then made the cover. Henry would put his feet on the bottom rope but Batista would push it away before referee Charles Robinson had the chance to see it. Mark Henry received his first loss on Smackdown! since he made his return.

Going back to the Road to Wrestlemania 22 tournament, Finlay took on Rey Mysterio in a first round match. Finlay’s stiff wrestling style conflicted with Mysterio’s. The Smackdown newcomer constantly found himself outsmarted by Mysterio. He dropkicked Finlay out of the ring and he had enough. Mysterio went for a baseball slide but Finlay held up the apron and trapped Mysterio in the ring skirt, kicking him mercilessly. Finlay tried to throw his opponent back into the ring but he fought back with his own kicks. Finlay clotheslined Mysterio over the crowd barrier and the two traded punches. They continued to beat each other until Mysterio realized he was being counted out and losing his Wrestlemania 22 main event shot. By the time he got to the ring, it was too late. The match ended as a double count out, meaning the winner of the next first round match will get a bye straight to the finals

JBL and Lashley had a confrontation backstage. Kristal was interviewing Bobby Lashley when JBL barged in and complained about his loss to The Undertaker last week. He said that “Bobby Softy” did not deserve interview time. Lashley grabbed JBL and then looked him straight in the eye. Lashley shoved JBL down onto the floor walking away.

Lashley did not make friends with Booker T either, he came out to the ring for his match with Paul Burchill while the United States champion Booker T and Sharmell were already out, complaining about the “biased” GM Teddy Long. Lashley finished Burchill off quickly with The Dominator.

WWE Cruiser weight champion, Gregory Helms defeated Nunzio. Helms claimed that his time on RAW has been a disaster. His contract with RAW ran out, instead of renewing it he decided to come over to Smackdown! Helms promised that he would take the Cruiserweight division on Smackdown to a whole new level even without being a superhero.

Also, MNM defeated The Mexicools (Psicosis and Super Crazy) in order to retain their tag team titles.

WWE RAW Preview

Feb. 6, 2006

Greensboro, NC

A rivalry that has been brewing for months will finally come to an end when Carlito takes on Chris Masters on RAW. They never had been the best of friends, but Carlito “costing” Masters in the Elimination chamber at New Year’s Revolution a month ago set off his fuse, or so he told WWE.com.

The psychotic Kane walked away from his partner, The Big Show last week. Big Show and Kane were a tag team that dominated the RAW (and SmackDown!) roster since last October. Will Kane address his actions from last week?

Also last week, Mickie James told WWE Women’s champion Trish Stratus that she loved her. Mickie James and Trish Stratus will be in tag team action tonight on RAW.

The main event of Monday Night RAW will decide who gets to defend the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 22. Will it be Edge or will it be Shawn Michaels? Michaels, who was doing very well at the Royal Rumble match a few weeks ago, was distracted Mr. Mcmahon as he came out at the rampway. Michaels was then eliminated, Mr. Mcmahon did not want to feel responsible for HBK’s loss which is why the chairman of the WWE awarded him with a title shot.

WWE.com caught up with Mr. Mcmahon earlier this week and asked him why he came out from backstage during the Royal Rumble. Mr. Mcmahon did not want to answer, instead he made the match into a Ladder Match even though he was not the GM. Both Edge and Shawn Michaels excel at Ladder Matches. The WWE champion definitely did not seem happy with HBK getting a title shot.

Find out all this and more on RAW. Monday nights at 9/8 CT on USA Network.

Screwjob

Feb. 6, 2006

Monday Night RAW featured a huge match as the main event, a match that would determine who gets to defend the gold at WrestleMania 22. Shawn Michaels was suspicious about Mr. Mcmahon (who was backstage at the show yet again.) He claimed that the chairman of the WWE was probably up to his old tricks again but this was to0 good an opportunity to pass up. An opportunity to compete for the WWE Championship while heading to WrestleMania in a ladder match. Edge was his usual cocky self, he is no stranger to Ladder Matches. Edge said that after beating Shawn Michaels tonight, he would have a live sex celebration next week.

The WWE title was held high above the ring as the match began. Edge took a page out of Razor Ramon’s book. With some help from Lita, Edge was able to tie up Michael’s leg to the rope and attack him using the ladder. Michaels was able to free himself just in time to prevent Edge from grabbing the belt by tossing off the ladder. The match eventually spilled over to the outside. Lita low-blowed Michaels, allowing Edge to go back to the ring and connect with a spear from the top rope. He then attempted to grab the belt yet again, Michaels tried to get back into the ring but Lita held him back. Shawn Michaels quickly got her out of the way with some Sweet Chin Music.

Edge was not going to risk being tossed off the ladder again. He picked it up and tried to ram into Michaels’ chest, he countered it by superkicking the ladder right into Edge’s face. With Edge out of the way, Shawn was free to climb the ladder and grab the belt. Mr. Mcmahon then came out to the ring with a microphone in his hand. The chairman of the WWE had the power and he was going to use it. He said that the ladder match was now officially cancelled and it was now a No Disqualification match. Shane McMahon came up from behind and hit Michaels in the back of his head with a steel chair while he was distracted. Edge then hit Michaels with a DDT as a confused referee, Mike Chioda made the three count. Mr. Mcmahon had just screwed Shawn Michaels. Mr. Mcmahon stood, laughing as Edge tended to Lita.

Mr. Monday Night, Rob Van Dam made his way to the ring and surprised everyone by saying that “after three weeks of thinking it over, I Rob- Van- Dam have finally made up my mind on who I want to face at WrestleMania 22.” Before RVD continue his impromptu speech, Triple H made his presence known. He told RVD what he told everyone, he is the only one who is competing for the WWE championship. The King Of Kings told RVD to use the “loophole” and go over to Smackdown!

RVD then told Triple H to face facts and stop bitching and moaning. The Game did not win the Royal Rumble, which means that he won’t main event WrestleMania unlike the past four years. That was enough for Triple H, he quickly put the fists on RVD and hit a vicious Pedigree out of nowhere. John Cena would then storm the ring and F-U Triple H all the way out of the ring.

Carlito cheated his way into another victory against his former “ally” Chris Masters. The Masterlock was locked in, but Carlito somehow weaseled his way onto the ropes. Frustrated by his opponent, Masters brought a chair into the ring, only to be taken by referee Chad Patton. Carlito then kicked Masters between the legs twice as the ref was busy putting away the chair. Carlito then hit the back-cracker for the win.

Elsewhere on RAW, Kane made short work out of The Heart Throbs by choke slamming both of them at same time in a handicap match. Kane’s former partner then made his way to the ring with a microphone in his hand. The Big Show demanded an explanation for Kane’s action’s last week. Kane laughed and grabbed his partner across the throat, Big Show countered the move. Kane raked Show’s eyes sending him reeling and walking into a choke slam. Kane then told his partner that “I can explain but I won’t.”

Intercontinental champion Ric Flair made his out to the rampway and acknowledged all the fans in North Carolina. Flair talked about not being at WrestleMania last year. Flair was about to issue an open challenge for WrestleMania 22 when Shelton Benjamin attacked him from behind and then laid him out with a T-Bone Suplex right on the steel. Benjamin walked up to Mr. Mcmahon backstage and told him that Ric Flair was the reason why his mother is in the hospital currently. Benjamin demanded a shot at the Intercontinental championship. Mr. Mcmahon told him to shut up and take his complaints to the RAW GM, his son Shane McMahon.

Todd Grisham interviewed Mickie James and asked her what she would do now that Trish has rejected Mickie’s affection. She told Todd not to assume anything before Trish can say it. Later on, they were in tag team action against Victoria and Candice Michelle. Mickie James would accidentally drop Trish with a clothesline before she felt the match wining Widow’s Peak. After the match, Ashley called Mickie a “psycho” provoking her to attack. The Women’s champion would step in and try to stop the catfight, only to receive an inadvertent kick from Mickie James.

One half of the World Tag Team champions, Spirit squad member Kenny defeated Val Venis. The other four members would then hit the ring and plant Venis with the High Spirits. Viscera would hit the ring and chase away the Squad before they could inflict further damage.

Great RAW, the HBK/Edge ladder match seemed better than the Ric Flair/Edge match which is hard to say. Speaking of Flair, Nature Boy and Shelton Benjamin is a match I'm looking forward to reading about, especially as a WrestleMania bout. I like how you worked the Kane/Big Show angle instead of that crappy one that WWE put on about May 19th. Really looking forward to the Batista/Henry Barbed Wire Steel Cage although it seems sort of odd that Batista says a normal cage match wouldn't be the best decision since Henry destroyed him in a Cage so he steps it up to a cage with barbed wire  Anyways, looking forward to Smackdown and the debut of "The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal Madman" Sabu

WWE Smackdown! Preview

Feb. 10, 2006

Norfolk, VA

Randy Orton was scheduled to face Bobby Lashley in “The Road to WrestleMania 22” tournament last week. The match, however was postponed by Theodore Long in order to give Orton some time to regroup after taking a vicious beating at the hands of Chris Benoit. If Orton is unable to participate tonight, Lashley will have to take on a mystery opponent as announced earlier this week from Network Executive Palmer Cannon.

If Lashley wins the match and he gets a bye to the finals, he will be one stop closer to achieving his dreams of becoming World Heavyweight champion. It’s all thanks to Finlay’s actions last week against Rey Mysterio.

Also, Chris Benoit will take on The Undertaker. The winner of this semi-final match will go on to “No Way Out” in order to face the winner of the Lashley/Orton match in “The Road to WrestleMania 22” tournament finals.

“No Way Out” is only 2 days away. Mark Henry takes on Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship inside a “Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match.” Mark Henry has promised to send out a message to Batista 2 Days before their match.

Don’t miss SmackDown! Friday nights at 8/7 CT on UPN

Wrestling Machines

Feb. 10, 2006

It was the night of the Wrestling Machines in Norfolk, VA. First off, in the “Road to Wrestlemania 22” tournament semi-finals Chris Benoit took on The Undertaker. Benoit was completely focused and not afraid of The Deadman. Despite numerous Crossface and Sharpshooter attempts, Undertaker remained strong and even countered with his own trademark submission maneuver, the triangle choke. The finish of the match saw Undertaker going for the Tombstone Piledriver but Benoit managed to slip through his grip somehow and rolled him up for the 3 count. Benoit and Undertaker then exchanged handshakes in the ring for a good contest. Suddenly, the lights in the arena went out and then came back on a few seconds later, confusing the wrestlers in the ring.

Network Executive Palmer Cannon revealed that Randy Orton had several fractures on his back and will not be able to compete. Orton’s replacement in the tournament was none other than the former RAW superstar Kurt Angle, accompanied by Daivari in a SmackDown! ring. Angle’s opponent was Bobby Lashley who was not able to dominate him like he had done to so many others. Unfortunately for Lashley, he was distracted by Daivari. Angle capitalized with several German Suplexes leading up to the Angle Lock. Although Lashley held on for a long time, he eventually passed out which gave Angle the victory. Angle got a bye into the finals, meaning that we will see Kurt Angle VS Chris Benoit at No Way Out.

Mark Henry was not present on SmackDown! but he still spoke his mind via a pre-taped interview. Henry claimed that he could rip the lock off a steel cage with his bare hand like he proved a few weeks. Henry said that there will not be any bolt cutters and on the outside of the steel cage on the floor, there will be rolls of barbed wire scattered throughout the ground. Henry told Batista that in 48 hours, he will be World Heavyweight Champion and that Batista will be watching Wrestlemania 22 from the hospital.

Finlay revealed to the audience why he cost Rey Mysterio and himself the important tournament match last week. As for championships, he has already been there and done that. Finlay loved to fight, no matter how big or small of an opponent he is up against, but he did not love to lose.

Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy, Orlando Jordan and JBL competed in a No. 1 contender’s match for the United States championship. The champion, Booker T was the guest commentator witnessing the match. JBL goaded the former US champion, Orlando Jordan into relieving the days of The Cabinet. After planting Matt Hardy with a swinging Neckbreaker, Orlando was backstabbed by JBL who took him out with a vicious Clothesline. JBL went for the cover but Rey Mysterio came out of nowhere with a springboard legdrop and breaking it up. He scored the 619 on JBL for the win. Mysterio then stared down his opponent at No Way Out, Booker T from inside the ring.

JBL and Lashley had another encounter backstage. JBL found it humorous that Lashley blew his probable one and only shot at the WrestleMania main event and the World Heavyweight Championship when he lost his undefeated streak against Kurt Angle earlier on in the night and lost all his momentum. Lashley challenged JBL to a match but he refused because he has nothing to prove. Unfortunately for him, Palmer Cannon and Theodore Long overheard their conversation and booked the match anyway.

Paul Burchill and William Regal defeated The Mexicools in order to become No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team championships. Later on in the show, Burchill walked into his locker room alone to found Melina. Melina started flirting with Burchill, and then suddenly Nitro and Mercury ambushed him from behind. Melina whacked Burchill with a title belt, leaving him lying on the ground.

Kid Kash defeated Brian Kendrick in cruiserweight action. Gregory Helms will defend his Cruiserweight championship at No Way out in a battle royal and Kid Kash is exempt. The Notorious K-I-D was not too pleased with that. He said that he did not care about the Cruiserweight title but he wanted to get his hands on Gregory Helms.

Kurt Angle def Bobby Lashley

WWE Newswire (02/11/06)

An Article is up on WWE.com promoting ECW One Night Stand 2. Rumours have been circulating about that for a long time and now it is confirmed. The date is still unknown, though it will probably take place sometime during June. Paul Heyman is expected to be at the No Way Out pay per view to promote the event. According to sources, WWE Management wants Heyman to be back as an on-air character.

“Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr. has not been on TV for a while. A possible reason for him to be taken off the road could be because of his recent problems with The Undertaker. Bob Orton will probably get an off-air role now as a Road Agent.

Sabu will be backstage at Baltimore for the “No Way Out” PPV.

Even though his back injury is minor, WWE did not want to put Orton in the ring for the tournament. Orton is scheduled to be back at the end of the month, so he will still make it to WrestleMania.

I really like the way you brought in Kurt Angle instead of the stupid surprise battle royal entree later on. I also like that Angle was the one who beat Lashley instead of Booker T.

I really enjoyed the Sabu black-out. Perhaps at some point his hype video will just randomly come on the screen interupting a match and confusing everyone again.

I have a question about one of the promos you wrote out

Mark Henry was not present on SmackDown! but he still spoke his mind via a pre-taped interview. Henry claimed that he could rip the lock off a steel cage with his bare hand like he proved a few weeks. Henry said that there will not be any bolt cutters and the outside of the steel cage on the floor would be wrapped in barbed wire as well as the top. Henry told Batista that in 48 hours, he will be World Heavyweight Champion and that Batista will be watching Wrestlemania 22 from the hospital.

MNM -- You should push Burchill without Regal. Besides, MNM is the better team.

Kurt Angle -- Have Orton screw Benoit out of the match, and Angle goes on to face Batista.

Jamie Noble -- You'll probably give Helms the win, but I like Noble the best out of these guys.

JBL -- JBL is more entertaining.

Booker T -- Rey sucks <_<

Batista -- Mark Henry should NEVER be near a World Title.

I like this diary so far, minus a few typos and bad sentences it's really good. I'll be reading.

BURCHILL AND REGAL VS MNM

No Way Out opened with the match up for the tag team titles. Paul Burchill was sure to be in a foul mood after MNM’s ambush on Friday. William Regal started out as the legal man against Johnny Nitro. Regal quickly tagged in Burchill, who was itching to get back at MNM. He hit a suplex and locked in a choke hold, which Nitro fought out of and capitalized with a running shoulder block. He then made the tag to Mercury, who set Burchill up on the second rope and drove his knees into Burchill’s throat. Mercury then distracted the referee, which allowed Melina to squeeze Burchill’s head with her legs.

MNM took Burchill to their corner and put the boots on him, tagging back and forth. Mercury suplexed him while Nitro came in and hit him with his signature break dance legdrop. Nitro settled into a sleeper, while stretching Burchill’s neck. He eventually fought out of it and bounced off the ropes, only to get dropkicked by Nitro. He tagged in Mercury, who drove his knees into Burchill’s abdomen. He tried to hit Burchill with a kick, who blocked it with his hands. Mercury attempted an Enzuiguri, but Burchill ducked it and dropped Mercury with a clothesline, making the hot tag to William Regal.

Regal cleaned house with Belly to Belly suplexes and running knees. He hit Nitro with an exploder suplex and he rolled out of the ring. Melina desperately passed Mercury a pair of Brass Knuckles. Melina then distracted the referee as Regal got blasted right in the face. Mercury covered Regal for the three count as Nitro pulled Burchill out of the ring apron and whipped him into the guardrail.

Winners: MNM

9- MAN CRUISERWEIGHT BATTLE ROYAL

The WWE Cruiserweight champion had the odds stacked against him, as he walked into No Way Out. There would be no eliminations in the match, which meant Gregory Helms didn’t have to be pinned or forced to submit in order to lose his title. As the match started, all 8 men found their dance partners and brawled outside the ring, excluding Gregory Helms. The champ made his presence known by diving outside the ring on top of all the superstars. He took Jamie Noble back into the ring and hit a superkick for a two count. Nunzio then came out of nowhere and dropkicked the back of Helm’s head.

Nunzio hit a DDT and went for the cover, which was broken up by a Psicosis legdrop from the top rope. Psicosis stacked both men on top of each other and went for the cover, only to receive a Moonsault from Super Crazy. Seeing this opportunity, Scotty 2 Hotty stormed the ring and covered the champ for a two count. Funaki came into the ring and was met with an elevated DDT from Scotty. London and Kendrick came into the ring and unleashed their arsenal of double team moves on everyone in the ring.

The Mexicools argued at ringside and Psicosis was met with a baseball slide from Paul London, which sent him face first into the guardrail. Kendrick hit Sliced Bread #2 on Helms for the cover, but it was broken up by London. The two teammates started fighting each other and the other cruiserweights used it to their advantage by taking them out with their finishing moves. Jamie Noble tried to suplex Super Crazy, but he landed on his feet and countered with the STO. Meanwhile, Psicosis grabbed Funaki in a side headlock, Funaki used his legs to walk across the ropes and hit a Tornado DDT. He was then back-slided by Jamie Noble. Scotty 2 Hotty broke up the count and hit a Bulldog on both men.

Scotty tried to hit The Worm on Funaki, but Nunzio hit the Sicilian Slice on Scotty and locked in the Sicilian Crab. Super Crazy tried to break up the submission hold, but was hit with a neckbreaker from behind by Gregory Helms. Helms took care of Nunzio with a Shining Wizard, breaking up the hold. Helms put down both Noble and Psicosis at the same time with a double Inverted DDT. He threw Funaki outside the ring and hit the Vertebreaker on Super Crazy for the three count. London and Kendrick crawled into the ring from outside, where they lay for the duration of the ending. However, it was already too late and Helms retained his title.

Winner: Gregory Helms

REY MYSTERIO VS BOOKER T

This Friday, Mysterio won a fatal 4 way match in order to get a chance to become the WWE United States champion. Mysterio was at a size disadvantage as usual. Booker T jumpstarted the match by sucker-punching Rey. Booker clubbed and stomped away, even choking Rey with his foot on the second rope. He then proceeded to hit Rey with knife edged chops. He followed it up with a superkick and a sidekick. Booker then targeted Mysterio’s arms, Booker went an armdrag but Mysterio held on and hit Booker T with a hurricanrana.

Mysterio hit Booker with a dropkick as he was on his knees. He followed up with a springboard legdrop for the 2 count. He raised Booker to his feet, but Booker would counter with an irish whip. Before Booker could make his move, his opponent came off with a springboard elbow. As Booker got up, he received a drop toehold which set him up for the 619. This was Sharmell’s cue as she desperately shoved Booker of the second rope, right before Mysterio connected. Sharmell took the hit but The Book Man was very angry now.

Booker hit some chops and whipped Mysterio into the turnbuckles, which caused him to bounce off of it. Booker drove his knees into his opponent’s gut before settling into a rear chinlock. The fans started to cheer Mysterio wildly. He regained his senses and slid under Booker’s grip, rolling him up for a two count. Mysterio connected running dropkick before setting Booker up for the 619 with a hurricanrana onto the ropes. He successfully hit the move and decked the champion with a Seated Senton.

Finlay made his way out to the ring and broke up the pinfall. The match ended as a disqualification. Finlay couldn’t care less, as he whacked Rey in the head with a wooden staff. When Referee Chad Patton tried to protest, he got the same treatment. Mysterio almost became United States champion.

Winner: Rey Mysterio (Disqualification)

JBL VS BOBBY LASHLEY

JBL had his fixer, Jillian Hall back on his side after she got facial surgery. Lashley was not concerned in the least however. As the match started, JBL shoved Lashley but afterwards, it was JBL who got shoved down onto the mat. Lashley hit some clotheslines, a scoop slam and a few shoulder thrusts on the corner. Lashley looked to end it early and signaled for The Dominator, but as he lifted JBL onto his shoulders, he slid out and hit a swinging neckbreaker. JBL followed up with elbow drops, including one from the top rope for a two count.

JBL showed off his strength with a Fallaway Slam for yet another two. The frustrated JBL began to shower Lashley with punches and stomps. He hit a big boot for a close three count, but not quite. JBL then decided to set Lashley up on the top rope for the superplex. Lashley started clubbing JBL and it eventually paid off as he fell onto the mat. Lashley got back onto the mat and inflicted pain with a back body drop.

After some clotheslines, Lashley signaled for The Dominator. Lashley hit the move and went for the cover. JBL’s fixer, Jillian hall dragged Referee Nick Patrick to the outside in mid-count. As Lashley broke the pin, Jillian slid her clipboard onto the ring. JBL grabbed the clipboard and whacked Lashley with it, but he only got a long two count as the ref went back into the ring. JBL stalked and hit Lashley with the Clothesline from Hell for the three count.

Winner: JBL

PAUL HEYMAN CALLS OUT

Former SmackDown! General Manager and ECW representative Paul Heyman made a surprise appearance at No Way Out. Heyman explained that he had Palmer Cannon to thank for bringing him back to SmackDown! He then addressed a subject which confused many fans, The Undertaker. Heyman said that he and Undertaker were never on the same page. Heyman was willing to forgive The Deadman for trapping him in a Casket over a year ago, if he accepted Heyman’s proposal. Heyman then proceeded to do the unthinkable and call out The Undertaker.

The Phenom made his way to the ring and listened to what Heyman had to say. He said that if The Deadman joined him, they could rule the WWE with an iron fist and “take over.” Heyman reminded him that he walked on his own for far too long and that it got him nowhere. Now, it was The Undertaker’s turn to speak, and he kept it short by shaking his head and grabbing Heyman by the throat for The Chokeslam. Suddenly, all the lights in the arena went out. It was a tactic that The Undertaker was all too familiar with. The lights then came back on as The Undertaker threw Heyman to the outside.

Although there was no one in front of the Deadman, a chair flew at him and hit him across his back. It was the Homicidal, Genocidal, Suicidal, Death-defying Sabu! He quickly grabbed the chair and hit the laid out Undertaker with a vicious Arabian Facebuster by leaping off the top rope with a chair. Sabu joined a smiling Heyman on the outside as there were a lot of unanswered questions. It all would be explained soon enough however, as Heyman was here to stay.

KURT ANGLE VS CHRIS BENOIT

Kurt Angle has had many encounters with Benoit in the past, even one for the WWE championship. This time, it was for the WrestleMania main event. Both men had similar styles and started chain wrestling for the first few minutes. Benoit fought out of a hammerlock and pushed Angle towards the ropes, the break was made as Angle quickly clotheslined Benoit over the top rope. Angle whipped Benoit onto the steel steps and threw him back inside, not wanting a count out victory. He hit a suplex and went for the triple german suplex. Benoit landed on his feet and countered with his own triple german. Benoit signaled and hit the Diving Headbutt on Angle and went over the cover. Angle kicked out at two. Benoit settled into a Bow and Arrow lock before shifting into the fujiwara armbar.

Angle began fighting out of the hold, but Benoit released it and performed some backhand chops instead. Benoit backed Angle into the corner with chops but Angle suddenly came back with multiple Belly to Belly suplexes. He hit several and on the third, Benoit was thrown over the top rope. Angled joined him on the outside and began screaming at his face. He tried to whip Benoit into the guardrail, but the Wolverine reversed it by pulling Angle toward him and hit him with a clothesline. Benoit instantly shifted his eyes onto Angle’s manager, Daivari. Benoit grounded him with a vicious chop and went back inside the ring. Benoit bounced off the ropes and dove to the outside with a plancha right on top of Kurt Angle.

Benoit got back up and the action went back inside the ring, even though it took a while. The fearless Benoit set up and hit a vicious Superplex on Angle. Benoit then got up and signaled for the Diving Headbutt. He climbed up the ropes, as Angle got back his feet groggily. He turned around and stopped Benoit with some right hands. Benoit fought back with some chops and pushed Angle back down on the mat. The Olympic Gold Medalist got back up and used his amazing speed to go onto the second rope and throw Benoit from the top rope with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Angle then proceeded to lock the Wolverine in a rear naked choke with bodyscissors. Benoit still had something left in his tank as he fed off the crowd reaction. Benoit amazingly stood up, carrying the weight of Angle on his back, who still had the hold locked on.

Benoit backed into the corner multiple times before Angle finally let go. Benoit went on the attack almost instantly, bouncing off the ropes and hitting clotheslines. This would be a mistake however, as Angle ducked one and grounded Benoit, working over his legs. He hit several stomps and elbows on it. Suddenly, Benoit hit Angle with a drop toe hold. Benoit had no time to tend after his legs, as he locked in the Crippler Crossface on Angle. Angle tried frantically to reach the ropes, each time he did so, Benoit pulled him back almost breaking his neck. This continued for about 5 minutes before the Crippler started to lose his grip due to exhaustion and his adversary broke the hold with a rope break. It was anyone’s ball game as both men stood up dazed, and began to trade punches. Angle suddenly got behind Benoit and hit him with an Angle Slam. The Angle Lock is locked in! After struggling for a while, Benoit finally taps. By doing so, he gives Angle his ticket to the WrestleMania main event.

Winner: Kurt Angle

BATISTA VS MARK HENRY

No Way Out was coming to a close as two of the Animals on SmackDown! were locked inside a Steel Cage. The Barbed Wire on the outside would ensure that there would be no escape. As the match started, both men stared down. Batista took the first shot, but Henry was not fazed. A few more right hands and clotheslines later, a surprised Henry was taken down. Batista hammered away at Henry, ramming his head on the cage several times. Henry tried to block it by putting his feet on the cage, but Batista kept shoving his head with incredible force. He drove Henry to the corner with several shoulder thrusts. Batista went for a running shoulder block, but Henry dodged it and created an opening.

Henry used Batista as if he were a battering ram, by shoving him through the ropes and smacking his skull and face on the Steel Cage. Henry put the boots to Batista, standing over his chest for a period of time, nearly cracking his ribs. Henry walked toward the door trying to kick the lock from the inside and breaking the door open. Henry turned around to face the bloodied Batista after several unsuccessful attempts at opening the door and got a sick smile on his face. He planted the wounded Animal with a Front Powerslam. 1.. 2.. No! Batista gets his shoulder up! Another cover gets the same results as Henry is frustrated. He lifts Batista to his feet and locks in a Bearhug. The World Heavyweight Champion was nearly put to sleep, but not quite as the fan’s cheers started to bring him back.

Batista started to fight out of the Bearhug by punching Henry. Henry drove Batista spine first into the corner and halted his momentum. Henry then charged for a body splash but Batista moved out of the way just in time. Mark Henry was hurt, but he was not out. He scoop slammed Batista put him over the ropes, lining him up against the Cage. Henry went for another Body Splash trying to sandwich Batista. However, the champion ducked as Henry collided against the Steel Cage. The Animal slowly got back up to his feet and drove Henry to the corner. Batista then hit a vicious spear on Henry, grounding him. However, both men got up to their feet at the same time due to the wounds of Batista. Batista bounced off the ropes and collided with a second Spear! Batista put himself on top of Henry. 1.. 2.. NO! Henry kicked out!

Not knowing what to do, Batista stalked Henry at the corner for a third Spear. The third time was not the charm for Batista however, as he ran right into the boots of Mark Henry. Henry, obviously favouring his ribs, went to the second rope and prepared for a Big Splash. Henry looked around all the Barbed Wire on the top before leaping into the air. Henry landed on his opponent. If his opponent was the ring mat! Batista avoided the move, and seized the opportunity. He kicked the door until it broke down, clearing a way out. However, he would not walk down that path. He grabbed the door and placed it over Henry’s chest.

Batista then went to the second rope and came down with a huge splash. The cage door was rammed right into the ribs of Henry. Batista got the three count and had retained his World Heavyweight Championship! The Animal was unleashed and held up his title belt proudly in the air. The medics wasted no time rushing to the ring, trying to tend to Mark Henry as the Steel Cage was lifted. The ring crew started to lift up the rolls of Barbed Wire on the outside. Batista showed some sympathy and went back into the ring, trying to help Henry out. He lifted Henry and walked up to the ropes along with him. Batista then dumped Henry over the ropes, and onto the Barbed Wire rolls on the outside. The Animal showed no remorse for his opponent as the show came to a close.

Winner: Batista

Really good Pay Per View. Kurt Angle vs. Batista would be a good match that's never happened before. I liked the ending to Batista vs. Mark Henry, and the after-math as well. Also good to see JBL beat Lashley, as JBL doesn't need to be Smackdown's job-boy after they tried so hard to get him over in the first place. I'm really interested in Undertaker/Sabu but I was confused when it said Paul Heyman would forgive Undertaker for trying to bury him last year. I remember Undertaker burying Paul Bearer in cement, but I don't seem to remember him burying Heyman. Maybe it's just slipping my mind though. Overall, good Pay Per View and I'm looking forward to WrestleMania

WWE RAW Preview

Feb. 13, 2006

Trenton, NJ

Edge took on Shawn Michaels in a Ladder match last week, producing some interesting results. Mr. Mcmahon showed up at the last second and changed the rules of the match. Mr. Mcmahon admits that he screwed Shawn Michaels. The former interim GM of RAW plans to address the issue this Monday night on RAW.

On another note, WWE Champion Edge promised last week that he will have a “Live Sex Celebration” on RAW after defeating Shawn Michaels last week. Edge will reveal his plans tonight on RAW.

Speaking of the WWE Champion, the question still remains whether Rob Van Dam will face Edge at WrestleMania 22. If Rob Van Dam decides to stay on RAW, will Triple H have anything to say about it?

Shelton Benjamin will take on Ric Flair for the Intercontinental Championship. Shelton blames Ric Flair for his mother’s injury that happened two weeks ago on RAW. The Nature Boy has his hands full, to say the least.

Don’t miss RAW. Monday nights at 9/8 CT on USA Network.
