I've just got that final grind left on FFX. Get my Ribbon Armor to beat the final four dark aeons, complete sphere grids, capture the last few creatures remaining to unlock Nemesis, and then beat both it and Penance. For real, as much as I adore this game, the whole "complete everyone's sphere grid" trophy is absurdly moronic.

I last left my FFX save in the middle of overhauling the Sphere Grid with as many +4s as I could harvest via special Monster Arena drops etc. etc. I'm sure it would literally take me days to finish and max (or nearly max) people's stats to have a chance against the latter Dark Aeons.

(I say I was "in the middle"...I bet if I checked I would be 10%, maybe 20% of the way through the Grid at most. Just the thought of carrying on with it makes me want to go and lie down in a darkened room for a while.)

Decided to say "fuck it" for now and moved on to FFX-2 remake finally. I forgot how goofy this game actually is  Also, random Japanese dialogue during battles confused me.

The boss fight on the robot drummer and the multitude of upskirt shots wasn't enough of a giveaway? :shifty:

Oh I remembered it being ridiculous, but it's the subtleties, like the way Yuna runs, and the wonderfully goofy "pajama party" nature of it all.

eh, they released a similar set a couple months ago for VII, VII and IX, I wouldn't say it's anything to get too hopeful about.

From guide description...

A revised interior design, brand-new HD screenshots, and comes in at 352 pages. These screenshots were updated from the PS2 version of the game, captured in 720p.

And there's already been loads of stuff floating about like soundtrack re-recording and the such. I'd say it's a safe bet.

Thought this was cool.

There's a theory that FF3 and FF8 share the same world.

3 features a powerful wizard named Hein/Hyne who tricked the king of Castle Argus, uprooted the Elder Tree, and turned it into his own floating fortress. In 8, the Great Hyne is essentially that setting's god figure who created mankind but mankind eventually rebelled against him when he began to take/kill their children. Sorceresses and their power originally came from him.

If you compare the world maps in FF8 and FF3 there are some rough similarities in continent placement/shape. The Floating Continent in FF3 is around where the Deep Sea Research facility is located in FF8.

The clock tower in Ultimecia's Castle in FF8 has two hands, one pointing at 8 and one pointing at 3.

It's also worth noting that, with the DS remake of FF3, they introduced a subplot to the game that wasn't there originally. It turns out that all four of the warriors of light were orphaned children who were all cared for by Cid, but they forgot about this shared past until later on in life after they happened to find each other again. This mimics an infamous plot point in FF8, where all of the main characters but one were raised in the same orphanage but lost this memory until later in the game. Their caregiver at this orphanage was Cid's wife.

Normally this is the sort of thing I would enjoy reading about but would never think was intentional/canon, but the fact that they specifically added an FF8 style orphan plot to FF3 after the fact is very interesting to me. I still think that, at the absolute most, it's just a nod to the theory and isn't supposed to be thought about beyond these surface similarities, but it's fun how some things seem to fit together so well.
