Maggot Brain

Band from Spain, in English. Two albums, grunge sound. similar-ish to Stone Temple Pilots, singers sounds a bit like Scott Weiland and Heroes Del Silencio's Enrique Bunbury if he sung in English.

Perosnally, both of these are very good, especially for free.

Tim Fite.

Tim has a long history in music, namely because he first chart topped MTV's TRL as Little T with a song called "Shaniqua". He even admits it was a bad song. A few years later, now he's a true hybrid. While he mainly raps, he also engages in interesting dalliances in folk and alt-country. And on one of the records that is free on the site, Over the Counterculture, he also goes after consumerism. Good man.

More Something Awful theft. This time, straight hip-hop. It's fucking awesome.

Satellite High - "The Shark Week Mixtape"

This may or may not constitute 'throwing myself to the wolves', but I figure there are at least a handful of you out there who might be interested in an irony-free hip hop record. Satellite High is my rap pseudonym and this record, "The Shark Week Mixtape, Volume One" is something that started off as a project to keep myself creatively occupied and gradually turned into a 20-song mix and the predominant focus of my non-work life. I'm a recently-transplanted Bay Area MC who takes a lot of cues from the late '90s east coast underground and would probably consider my biggest influences to be guys like Pharoahe Monch, Percee P, and Kool G Rap. If you like that kind of stuff, there's a good chance that you'll like this too.

A few preview tracks from this tape are on my myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/satellitehigh) in case you'd like to check it out without investing the time and energy to download the entire record.

01) Intro (Trip to the Aquarium)

02) Shark Day Instrumental: "North by Northwest" by Blue Scholars

03) Somethin' That Means Somethin' 08 Instrumental: "Yummy" by Chelo

04) Hey! Instrumental produced by Sep

05) What You Know (featuring Ken DZ) Instrumental: "Lip Gloss" by Li'l Mama

06) Go Shark, It's Your Birthday (Interlude)

07) Allow Me to Introduce... Instrumental: "Wood Grain Wheel" by Slim Thug

08) Callin' Out (Satellite South Bay Version) Instrumental: "Callin' Out" by Lyrics Born

09) Product Placement Instrumental: "Way to Go" by Skyzoo and 9th Wonder

10) Tipsy (Cheap Drunk) Instrumental: "Tipsy" by J-Kwon (duh)

11) Working a Gimmick Instrumental: "Tractor Beam" by MC Chris

12) Shark Week Instrumental: "Milk 'Em (Benny Cassette Remix)" by Ghostface Killah

13) Kids, I Know You Like My Rappin' (Interlude)

14) Take a Number, Stand in Line Instrumental produced by Sep

15) The Plot Thickens Instrumental: "The Art of Rap" by Copperpot

16) The Champ (featuring Michael Schtuffer) Instrumental: "The Champ" by Ghostface Killah

17) Social Issues Instrumental: "Skeletons" by Lifesavas

18) Why do Sharks Explode? (Interlude) blatantly stolen from a Space Ghost episode

19) (Poison Says) Rock the Fuck Out! Instrumental: "(Simon Says) Get the Fuck Up!" by Pharoahe Monch

20) Tigersharks Outro

Binary Star - Masters of the Universe

http://www.subterraneousrecords.com/motu.html

They're an undergound rap group who put this album up for free after their record label never paid them for the copies they sold.

Where's the download link?

I remember it took me ages to work out where the download link was, but I found it. And now I can't remember it, so I'm rapidsharing it, I'll edit the link in here when it's done.

Chamillionaire - Mixtape Messiah 2

Mixtape Messiah 2 is a mixtape by southern rapper Chamillionaire. The release is the highly anticipated sequel to Mixtape Messiah. It became available to download on December 24, 2006 on Chamillionaire\'s website.[6]

On \"Hip-Hop Warning,\" Chamillionaire presents a message about the current status of hip hop music, using the instrumental for Nas\' \"Hip Hop is Dead\" and an interpolation of the lyrics from the song. This message is a common theme throughout the album.

On the \"Outro\" track, Chamillionaire states that his next album, entitled Ultimate Victory, would be released on March 27, 2007, but the album\'s release date was September 18, 2007, significantly more distant than the date previously announced.

It is estimated that since its release, Mixtape Messiah 2 has been downloaded legally approximately 50,000 times.
