I was so fucking stoked when Michonne knocked Rick out. I also found myself wanting to cheer the wife beater over him, this is how shit TWD is at character portrayal.

Michonne is easily the best character on the show at this point. The dynamic between her and Rick has been my favorite part of this back half.

I mean, just several episodes ago Rick ran down a man who had his hands tied behind his back and than shot him in the head.

I'm not saying he is more appealing, but who wants to pick between two assholes?

I think that was essentially the point though. Rick (like Sasha) has gone a bit Nam and is taking things much too far, but is justified in challenging the wife beater (even if doing it for the wrong reason of trying to get his end away), so Michonne stopping him midrant to save the town is the right thing to do.

I think people take the "main character is not a even a good guy" stuff way too far. It happened with Lost, Breaking Bad...now The Walking Dead. It was not that long ago when in very short order Rick was captured by a group of blood thirsty animals who were going to rape and murder his child in front of him and then he was captured by cannibals, where he was literally seconds away from being butchered so he could he eaten. So in this post-apocalyptic world...he's still way better than the violent drunk who beats his wife and son.

Lets also not forget it wasn't too long ago, timeline wise, that his son also had to kill his wife. I think its less "Rick is an asshole" and more "Rick obviously has PTSD"

I agree about Rick, but I'm pretty sure the appeal about Breaking Bad was the fact that Walter White crossed that line at one point.
