1. Flaming is prohibited, and may get you a warning. If you don't like a person's work, explain why. Common courtesy is handled here as it is anywhere else on EWB. It's asked that all members be kind and respectful to each other, and do their best not to let tempers flare. Criticism should be given constructively, as should any praise as well.

2. "Postwhoring" is prohibited, and may get you a warning if done continuously. Postwhoring means to post without substance, such as saying "Thanks" and nothing else as a response to a request thread. All responses should at least be a sentence long-- much like in The Dome, no one-to-two word replies.

3. Premade backgrounds are prohibited. If any designer is caught using premade backgrounds by other designers in their work, without citing that they've done so-- thus claiming the work is, in fact, their own-- they will be immediately warned for their action and given a 24-hour suspension for the first-time offense. Second-time offenders will receive a 7 day suspension, and in the event of a third offense, the member will be banned from EWB. We're a little more forgiving on premade backgrounds, as they are in fact a common thing for new designers to practice with; however, we stress the importance of giving credit for work where it is due.

4. Stolen designs are prohibited. It doesn't matter if you've already seen a design made by someone else that fits a member's request perfect, and you want to help them out and make yourself look good. If a member is caught posting entire designs made by other designers and claiming them as their own, then they will be immediately warned and suspended for 30 days. This is a serious offense, and will be treated as such. There is no three-strike ruling for this, if a member is caught doing this a second time, they will be banned from EWB. Furthermore, if a member's work is revealed to have been stolen, and the member has made multiple threads of different stolen works, every thread will count as its own individual offense; therefore, if more than one thread is made with stolen work, the member will be immediately banned, no negotiations.

6. Give credit for premade 'cuts'. If the website has stated that the cut is free-use, it is still asked that you post where you downloaded the cut, not only so that other designers might share the resource, but so that you aren't inadvertently claiming the work as your own. If the website requests for credit when their cuts are used, and it's found out that a designer has not given proper credit to the website, the designer may be warned.

7. Any complaints about a warning, suspension, or banning due to breaking or repeated breaking of these rules will not be heard by any member of the staff as a legitimate complaint. If you feel you were unfairly warned over something posted in the Graphics forum, or the Graphic Requests subforum, then please contact the moderator who gave you the warning in the first place; however, do realize that if it's decided that the warning fell within these guidelines, it will not be removed, and any punishment you were given will be carried out despite your complaints.

8. We appreciate all designers willing to lend a helping hand to the members who need it here, and any member who has their request answered should show the designer the gratitude and respect they deserve for at least attempting to answer the request, regardless of if the member decides to use it or not. If you don't like a piece by the designer, politely thank them for their attempt, but explain why it's not what you're looking for.

9. If at all possible, anyone making a request should attempt to adhere as closely to the following Graphics Requests Guidelines as possible:

  • Type - Signature, Banner, Logo, etc.
  • Text - Any desired taglines, phrases, typography, etc.
  • Font - Any specific fonts or font-types, such as a san-serif or serif type font.
  • Images - Any images, desired backgrounds, or stock pictures requested for the design.
  • Colors - The desired color scheme of the requested graphic.
  • Size - The size of the requested graphic-- i.e. "600w x 300h".
  • Sidenotes - Any additional requests about the graphic-- i.e. if you'd like a part of the graphic "floating" on a transparent background, have it animated, etc.
