Nope. Liverpool's very first match in 1892 (against Rotherham) featured an entirely Scottish team. Although this wasn't really a competitive match, they did the same thing a couple of months later when they beat Fleetwood Rovers in the league with an all-Scottish team.

I am aware that this is even more historical than even Liverpool like to go when they talk about history.

tbf, not many do. The manager was Irish though.
