That's one of the dumbest ideas I've seen in a long time. Fair play to Arsene.

Arsene Wenger proposes changes to offside law

Makes perfect sense, I see no reason why this won't be ratified.

How difficult will that be for a linesman to call in a non VAR game? Tracking trailing legs in a crowded penalty area will be near impossible in real time. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the offside rule, and a rule change just to suit VAR is insane.

I think this image from the thread illustrates how ridiculous it'd be. This would be onside under the proposal

The rule is fine and VAR is fine. People just need to get over that razor thin margains are a thing now.

It can be annoying, but offside is offside, and as long as VAR is making the correct call, however fine the margin, it's fine by me. There are other areas it can 100% be improved upon though.

Razor thin margins are fine as long as they can show that razor thin margins are achievable in the tech, which they haven't. The offside rule is fine, VARs arbitration of it is crap, and if you want to give a margin for error moving the line isn't the option, thickening the lines is.

I've got no issues with the offside rule. It's the stuff like armpits being given as offside and pinky toes being given off. There should be some benefit of doubt to it.

If you can score a left pit, right pit, bum crack three is it a smelly hat trick?

One of the most coveted hat tricks along with the back, sack and crack-trick

One of those "oh shit, I'm one of the old people" moments hit me when I was watching a bit of the Blackburn/Arsenal youth cup game, and finding out that Shaun Wright-Phillips' son was playing for Blackburn.

Clearly just a tribute to Test. Almost 11 years to the day of his death.

Apparently Ronaldinho is arrested in Paraguay for using a fake passport or something like that and scored 5 goals and assisted 6 of his team 11 goals (they won 11-2) in today's prison tournament fixture.

He's an outside shot for 2020 Balon d'or, all things considered. :shifty:

Little something to pass the time.

Or for a better one, try to assemble the best XI plus manager you can using only players with your birthday. This is a useful source, if anyone can find somewhere with a more comprehensive retired list that would be good: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aktuell/geburtstage

Will have a look at this at some point.

Quickly realised that I share a birthday with Bruno Fernandes though. 😍

I'm going to do it later on, on first glance mine looks horrific. Plus I'm one day off Rafa as manager.

GK Carl Ikeme (Retired, ex-Wolves)

DR Matt Polster (Rangers)
DL Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid)
DC Matt Carbon (Retired, ex-WBA)
DC Mike te Wierek (Groningen)

MC Javier Mascherano (Retired, ex-Barcelona)
MC Dickson Etuhu (Retired, ex-Preston)
MC Finn Ole Becker (St. Pauli)

RW Kadeem Harris (Sheff Wed)
LW Kamil Grosicki (WBA)
ST Ahmed Khalil (Al Shabab)

Manager: Jose Antonio Camacho (managed to get sacked by Real Madrid without managing a single game)

Used a bunch of retired lads, would probably still do a job in the Championship though.

I'm assuming this is an all-time team? I'm not expecting Bryan Robson or Gerson to come in and do a job now, so can change accordingly.

If they're allowed, this team, in its prime could definitely do bits. Couldn't find a good right winger, so given Sane a free role behind a powerhouse strike force.

GK - Tiago Sa (Braga)

RB - Dani Carvajal
CB - Michael Keane
CB - Felix Torres (Colombian International)
LB - Ismaily (Long-Serving Shakhtar defender)

CM - Diade Samassekou (Hoffenheim, Mali Internatonal)
CM - Bryan Robson
CM - Gerson (Ex-Brazil International)

CAM - Leroy Sane

ST - Jamie Vardy
ST - Emile Heskey

Manager - Adrian Heath (Former Burnley, Coventry and and Sheffield United manager)
