So, after spending a weekend toying with Monks and Mystics...

 

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the evil secret societies. While having the powers are cool and what not, I think it makes the game way too easy, since I can sacrifice any prisoner with impunity, as well as inflicting illness on various undesirables. The hermetic society's pretty neat, but I haven't messed around with that too much, and I really need to investigate what benefits there are to joining the Dominicans or the Benedictines. 

 

I did find a fun start on AGOT. The Faith Militant Uprising. The realm slowly crumbles thanks to Maegor Targaryen. From a gameplay perspective, this guy is worse than Aerys, since not only is he a great commander, he also rides...Balerion, and he has the full loyalty of Visenya, riding an older and stronger Vhaegar. Have fun dealing with that mess. If the guy wins, then the other Lord Paramounts are going to start shit to get rid of him. 
 

It just seems very difficult for me to get into an extended game of AGOT, due to the bugginess and that it almost always ends up the same. I'm thinking for the time being I may just stick with vanilla.

The supernatural stuff is fun though. I really wish that through the option to have a demon's child, that it would turn into the Antichrist as presented through the Old Golds event, but no :( .

Yep. Jewish steward. Ended up being marrying him to a courtier spawned by the witch event. Ugly and a hunchback :shifty: . 

 

Anyway, my game's going pretty well. Started in 769 as the Chief of Dublin, united Ireland. Gave my sons except the eldest a duchy (excluding two which are being used for the capital, it's like Mide and Lienster I think). Currently making plans to invade Britain, but I'm thinking of restarting the game since I thought up a new goal. 

There's an achievement for recreating the Roman Empire. So, I go to thinking, why not to try restore Carthage? I mean, yeah, I'll be up to my knees in Muslims, but still, could be fun...

I'm messing around with that myself for a Cube game.

My Wessex game is wonderful at the moment. 1092 and have set myself a challenge to not expand beyond Britannia's dejure borders (outside of Shetland, the Faroe Islands, Rom :shifty:, and just enough territory in the northwestern part of France to form the Kingdom of Brittany. All those were grandfathered into this challenge)

Won three Crusades in a row. Burgundy and Middle Francia are doing fine post-independence, whereas Jerusalem was already swallowed up again by the Abbasids.

The Cerdicing dynasty not only controls Britannia but also Francia, who somehow vassalized most of Scandinavia and are (for now) my only serious threat.

Have only faced one serious threat to my rule when some low-level punk tried pressing his fabricated claim on my empire, had the Kings of Ireland and Wales backing him up. They failed.

Oh, dude, I just had an epic idea. 

Make custom character. Full on Littlefinger type. Have him become a Satanist. Use his high intrigue and dark powers to destroy the Abbasids. For Jesus. You Monster.

Events, jobs, plots and decisions:

  • Added many canon books as artifacts, and an event to buy them
  • Added a glass candle artifact, with assocaited decisions/events
  • Dragon riders may now move courts more often
  • Added an event for wine cellars
  • Enabled some regency decisions for when the regent has their liege imprisoned
  • When Stannis wins the war for The North, the new Lord of Winterfell must choose whether to convert and burn the Godswood
  • Added an event where a Faith of the Seven high valyrian ruler may take on an extra wife

  • Mega war related justice now effects fear
  • Can no longer plot to release slaves who are unrelated and like their master
  • Made it impossible to diplomatically vassalise rulers made temporarily independent via mega war
  • Stealing a slave no longer results in a opinion malus with the slave
  • Added more negative consequences for northerners ignoring a call to arms from The Night's Watch
  • Prisoners are now grateful for being released from a siege
  • Just rulers take a smaller prestige hit and are less liekly to gain stressed or depressed if they lose a trial
  • Defensive coalitions now apply to kingdom claim wars
  • It is no longer possible for the Night's Watch to accept vassalisation
  • Added a cooldown to seeking raiding redress after a successful vengeance war. Also reduced amount of wealth seized
  • Increased Seek Raiding Redress diplomatic action cooldown
  • Realms in favour of slavery can now be called into a defensive coalition for realms defending an anti-slavery war, plus the same for pro-slavery and anti-piracy wars
  • Made some adjustments to ruler designer trait costs
  • The republic seize city casus belli can now only be used in locations of the same culture or religion group, or against other merchant republics
  • It is now cheaper to hire the golden company, but only king tier or above can now hire them
  • Dawn can no longer be inherited
  • Rebalanced wealth gained from province extortion
  • Military commands can now be freely revoked, also updated ai military commander selection AI
  • There is now a small chance of being unable to flee a battlefield duel
  • Made large tournies slightly cheaper

AI:

  • Adjusted AI logic of funding claimant adventurers (made more picky)
  • Made the AI more aggressive with claim wars in shattered realm starts
  • Arbitrary or lunatic AI rulers may now sometimes tyranically imprison people
  • Added a script that makes non-indepedent AI try to find allies
  • Making a marriage with a neutral AI lord during a mega war will now prompt them to re-evaluate their neutrality
  • Made some adjustments to AI casus belli weighting
  • AI rulers with full slave camps may now sell some slaves so they can raid for more

Graphics and portraits:

  • Added an icon for declared incapable trait
  • Applied the heremetic clothing to the alchemist guild (with a green recolour)
  • Added a greyscale trait icon

Map:

  • Made The Sandship a military command
  • Added peasedale as a sept in The Riverlands
  • Tarbeck Hall is now known has Bramhope after its destruction
  • Added Misty Isle as a barony in Deddington

Misc:

  • The devil worshipper game rule now defaults to off
  • Renamed devil worshipper rule options
  • Female pirate heirs are now accepted if the pirate is a traditional cognatic culture and their capital province is the same culture
  • Removed the road buildings and combined all their effects into one province modifier
  • Changed the effects of The Great Crypt to something that actually works
  • Adjusted almost-spamlike cheating spouse punishment event
  • Fixed women not getting any reaving events. Also optimised the events
  • Brienne changes nickname to "the Blue" if Renly wins
  • Beric now gets Blackhaven upon beating the Iron Thhrone
  • The iron throne can now use bodyguards if the kingsguard is not active

Went to make a custom character. Littlefinger type etc. Count of Leon, with the goal of making him the Emperor of France. 

Things go well. Join the Satanists, advance pretty fast. Lose the immortality quest, oh well. Have two daughters and a son. The son is slow. 

Then...my second daughter, middle child doesn't cry or fuss, but laughs when someone gets hurt. 

 

Shit. She's the Antichrist :| .

Invasion CBs are fun. If you occupy all the target's territory that's not in the de jure kingdom you're invading, you take out entire countries. Did this with Bulgaria in the 867AD start, reduced Boris to a single county in my realm and then took that by choosing to settle as feudal there.

Also Rurik is the easiest character I've ever played as. Formed the Rus within three years of game start.
