The RFU has ousted it's president. So much for the pre-World Cup racism crackdowns, then.

Reports in Italy have claimed that Carlo Ancelotti has met Milan’s vice-president, Adriano Galliani, on several occasions this week, as the Serie A strugglers attempt to persuade him to return to San Siro following the sacking of Pippo Inzaghi. “He hasn’t said yes to me, but neither has he said no,” Galliani said on Wednesday. “He doesn’t have doubts about Milan, he’s simply weighing up whether to step out for a year. We’re trying, but nothing is sure yet.”

Neither Milan club qualified for European football this year.

That must be a first in a long, long time. How the mighty have fallen!

I just looked back... If you count any form of European competition (including the Cup Winners Cup and Inter-Cities Fairs Cup), then it hasn't happened since 1956.

Indeed, 1956 is the ONLY other year it has happened - that's when Fiorentina were champions and took the solitary European Cup spot. In 1955, the first year of the European Cup, Milan were the champions who qualified.

Sinisa Mihajlovic is reportedly close to becoming the manager of Milan who sacked Filippo Inzaghi on Thursday. Gazzetta dello Sport said the Serb met the Milan president, Silvio Berlusconi, late on Wednesday and that an announcement could come by the end of the week. Mihajlovic stepped down at Sampdoria on Monday after guiding the Genoa club to seventh. The 46-year-old took charge at Sampdoria in November 2013. He has managed Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina and Serbia and played at full-back for Sampdoria, Lazio and Internazionale.
