The Xbox One Thread

It's honestly not as bad as we were led to believe from the start - and you can fully unplug it and it'll have no effect on your experience if you weren't interested in it from the start. But yeah, it would be nice to see a price drop without out.

It's a smart business move really though - the hardware works amazingly and it'll just motivate developers to take advantage of that since every console has a Kinect.

Exactly. I'd hate for them to remove it now because it's part of the all-round experience of the system and you'd end up with Kinect 1 style support.

It's really sweet being sat in a game then calling out something like "Xbox, Go To Skype" and it just popping Skype open then calling out "Xbox, Go Back to ..." and it bringing the game back up.

I'd honestly rather just press one button on the controller that's already in my hand to open apps/games.

I mean, I get that it has other uses, but voice control is one that doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

There'll be voice commands for Dying Light, which sound alright but I doubt they'll work as well as they want it to.

Voice control is as unnecessary a gaming innovation as the Wii's stupid motion controls, only this won't help shift the console to the masses, it'll do the opposite. I don't want to tell my console to do stuff that I can do with a button press, the same way I don't want to control Mario by waving my wrist around for no reason.

The Titanfall bundle is a brilliant idea though, it helps cover the pricegap between the two and should really even up the consoles sales before we head into Christmas. Doesn't appeal to me though, looks like COD: Transformers, neither of which I'm interested in!

For all the needless tacked on motion controls we've seen in games over the last eight years, they're not totally useless... Wii Sports is still a blast. Golf on the Wii U is brilliant.

Wii Sports was essentially a tech demo though. I think the fact that Wii Sports is the stand out of 8 years of needlessly tacked on motion controls, even on good games, proves that it was an unnecessary innovation.

"The Wii and Xbox are fucking horrible" has been a strong TCO tradition for a decade now, he's not about to change anytime soon.

I had an Xbox from 2005-2008 until it RROD for the final time. I loved Xbox once but then it broke my heart :(

Kinect is a masterpiece. Substitutions are so easy in FIFA now. :D

That said, I keep getting called for bad language while playing NBA 2k14. Amusing the first time, frustrating every time since.
