TEW05 Real World Update: January 2014

Recommended Posts

No, this isn't a mirage. A day late because I had issues with Rapidshare, but hell, it's finally up. Anyway, there have been way too many updates to keep track of since the last update in October. Unfortunately, there haven't been as many changes to the promotion list as I would have preferred. The main issue is the lack of certain workers in the DB. The only way that changes is if people contribute with stat suggestions. Any, and every, promotion can be added. I'd like to eventually have two different data packs per released, one simplified, and the other extremely in depth with a much larger promotion list.

I look forward to any feedback, and changes and updates will continue.

This is from Lordsofpain.net

- WWE NXT star Oliver Grey wrestled his first match in almost a year at last night's NXT live event in Largo, FL. Grey suffered a torn ACL back in early 2013. He tweeted after last night's return match:

"First match in nearly 11 months tonight...feels great to be back even if it was on the losing side, we will get out own back!"

First off, and this is unrelated to the massive note below, Ben Dejo's FIP contract is accidentally set to written rather than pay-per-appearance. It's been changed on my data, but is still reflected in the download.

Regarding the NWA, at this point the way it's going to be set up in game, is as one promotion. Currently in the game there are two NWA promotions, NWA (which is bare bones to say the least and exists solely so the prominent NWA titles have a place to sit) and Florida Underground, which has a bit more detail to it, but still only consists of prominent workers that were already in the DB with the except of Maxwell Chicago who I added after I saw two FUW shows last summer.

At this point, with more affiliates pulling out (such as On Fire, which is now basically co-promoting with other small, regional promotions under the East Coast Pro Wrestling label, and Anarchy Wrestling) than joining up, it's hardly worth it for myself, or anyone to take the time to add people from their numerous promotions that would be no larger than "small" in terms of game level. And as it is, most affiliates don't yet have a website, much less a roster you can view. The only real prominent promotions at this time in the NWA, at least based upon the affiliates they have on their website, are Florida Underground (which is currently in the game on its own), Smoky Mountain, and Southern All-Stars Wrestling (SAW, recently joined the NWA within the past year), both of which were in the database previously.

So at this point, FUW will be removed, and the NWA in game will consist of the "major" NWA affiliates rosters, with the titles being the "world wide" recognized titles, such as the World Title, Junior Heavyweight, etc. The promotion is based in the Mid-South, due to the majority of affiliates being based in Texas. It's will have equal popularity in the Mid-South and South East areas, with Mid-Atlantic being secondary in terms of popularity.

You could always add in these NWA affiliates, they seem to be rather active.

- NWA Houston

- NWA Smoky Mountain

- NWA Top of Texas

They're active, but the question is, who has the knowledge of those promotions to provide stats for the many workers from each promotion who aren't currently in? You know better than I do, that's the problem with adding promotions.

I could easily add 50+ active promotions to the DB, they would just be heavily incomplete rosters for each.

Yeah maybe its the upgrade to TEW10 with the "worker quick add" feature than makes adding these workers with little to no info on easier.

I would argue little to no point to having a major NWA group anyway with these little unknown US groups with the brand then you have the title being defended in New Japan.

I wouldn't exactly call it major. It's just workers from the prominent NWA affiliates under one roof, with popularity set pretty low for most regions. Not sure what you mean in terms of the belt being defended in Japan?

Well its more the fact it seems the NWA are allowing their titles to be defended on New Japan shows, the tag title changed a few months back and then you have what happened on the January 4th show.

Oh yeah I know, I watch New Japan religiously, but it's not worth adding those belt's to NJPW, at least not yet. I do suppose those the NWA could just be removed. It's either that, or what it's been made into. I supposed it could provide a nice challenge for those who like the idea of booking the NWA back to the top.

Personally I think if you wanted to do an "rebuilding the NWA" game it would be easier adding it in yourself, its overly complicated and can get confusing to impliment the titles in a database representing todays world. I've tried and 9/10 times its just easier removing the belts.

Also I havent DL'ed the DB but if you have IPW:UK in the game I'd reccomend converting it to Revolution Pro, they split the company a year or so back and personally Rev Pro is a lot more going for it compared to IPW:UK which seems to have become just another indie company.

I think the easiest way to handle NWA is just to pick an affiliate and decide its NWA proper. If you want to make up a "NWA" promotion that works the same but I think its functionally the same thing as pegging Florida Underground as "NWA". For the personal database I'm working on I'm looking at centering the NWA around Branded Outlaw Wrestling which is owned by Bruce Tharpe who i believe is the current NWA president and the guy who is leading the NJPW contingent. So it just seems to make sense to me to set up his promotion as the home base. Plus it seems to feature Conway and Dane who for quite awhile at least had the NWA World and Tag Titles.

But I haven't done a ton of research or started really working on the NWA in my database so I don't know how hard it will be. Plus I'm working with TEW13 so its easier to add a wrestler with a generic set of skills.

I have not gotten too far into the game thus far but I have seen a few things.

The Bella Twins need to be set as faces.

Biggie Biggs works for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood

Also noticed This as well:

Crazy Chicken #1 and #2 are not set as a tag team. They are the Crazy Chickens.

Calavera #1 and #2 are a tag team as well called Los Calaveras.

But I think you have done a pretty good job. I can see the difficulty in creating the NWA. If I get a chance to I can see what I can do on seeing who is there and who has titles.

I'll reupload the DB later on today. It includes a decent amount of changes since the other update 4 days ago, including title changes and the like. The main reason is so people can see how the NWA has been set up, and whether or not the majority agree that it's a good way to have it.

And in terms of IPW:UK, as long as they still run, I'm going to keep them in, even if they aren't what they used to be.

Hey I am having issues downloading this. When I click the any of the links it takes me to the rapidshare website, but its just a blue screen with no links,

There should be something saying "to Download" click that to go to the download page.

As of January 13th, 2014, Jay Bradley has been released from his TNA contract, so if there will be another real update soon, remove Bradley from TNA. According to wikipedia, he's still employed by OVW though.
