Villa would be a great marquee signing for NYCFC.

US Open Cup news! Round three went down last night, some fun upsets with three amateur teams making it into round 4 to take on MLS teams. The round 4 matches are:

Rochester Rhinos vs. DC United

Harrisburg City Islanderrs vs. Philadelphia Union

Richmond Kickers vs. New England Revolution

Pittsburgh Riverhounds vs. Chicago Fire

Carolina Railhawks vs. Chivas USA

Atlanta Silverhawks vs. Real Salt Lake

Orlando City U23s vs. Portland Timbers

Indy Eleven vs. Columbus Crew

Laredo Heat (who took down Ft. Lauderdale. SORRY ORO) vs. Houston Dynamo

San Antonio Scorpions vs. FC Dallas

Minnesota United vs. Sporting Kansas City

Arizona United vs. LA Galaxy

Sacramento Republic vs. San Jose Earthquakes

PSA Elite vs. Seattle Sounders (so excited for this game because it means my first US Open Cup game at Starfire, which is supposed to be an incredible atmosphere)

and the marquee matchup of this round, New York Cosmos vs. New York Red Bulls. That should be interesting.

^ I really hope this is all true. As you said, he'd be fantastic. CCL GROUPS !!!!!

Group 1: CD Pachuca (Mexico), Real España (Honduras), CSD Municipal (Guatemala) Group 2: Sporting Kansas City (US), Saprissa (Costa Rica), Real Estelí (Nicaragua) Group 3: New York Red Bulls (US), Montreal Impact/Toronto FC (Canada), Club Deportivo FAS (El Salvador) Group 4: Tauro FC (Panama), D.C. United (US), Waterhouse FC (Jamaica) Group 5: CD Olimpia (Honduras), Portland Timbers (US), Alpha United FC (Guyana) Group 6: Alajuelense (Costa Rica), Cruz Azul (Mexico), Chorrillo FC (Panama) Group 7: Club León (Mexico), Isidro Metapán (El Salvador), Belmopan Bandits (Belize) Group 8: Comunicaciones FC (Guatemala), Club América (Mexico), Puerto Rico Bayamon FC (Puerto Rico)

DCU gets a very kind draw, NYRB/Canada got hosed, Portland has a fighting chance, and Pachuca has a real danger of not advancing. Oh, and amid the reports about Brek Shea and TFC/everyone else, it has been mentioned that Joe Cole was told "no thanks" by TFC and is now in contact with Orlando.

Eh, not really "wow." RSL got hit the worst by call-ups and injuries; take away Rimando, Beckerman, Saborio, and Plata and they're pretty average. Take away Dempsey and Yedlin and you've got a team that's deep enough to have Kenny Cooper still only first off the bench.

Yeah, this turned out to be a week of the referees deciding to fuck us over even more than usual.

At least we did better than Tampa Bay this year <_<
