Season's almost done, and Sky have set the ball rolling with their sources saying that Liverpool are about to bid for Adam Lallana and would ideally like the deal done and dusted before the plane leaves for Brazil. The other major PL news is that Bacary Sagna is all-but-confirmed as leaving Arsenal at the end of his contract - Man City and PSG are reportedly interested.

As for what I want for Spurs? First and foremost - a new manager. Player-wise, we desperately need new full-backs, the annual search for a centre-half or two will continue, and the eternal quest for a reliable proven goalscorer will go on. I think we're OK in the midfield though. If Livermore comes back and stays back then you can see Bentaleb being loaned out to the Championship or League One for the season. Also if Friedel doesn't stay on (I can't remember if he signed a contract extension or not) we'll need a new back-up goalie or two as Gomes' contract has FINALLY expired, I believe.

But the rumour mill is starting to shift up into hyperdrive and clubs around the country have already started shedding their out-of-contract players, so the bum rush begins.

I swear we have this argument every time I start a thread. Tiresome. Talk about transfers.

I started the January transfer window thread a week before Christmas, so I have zero qualms over this thread. :shifty:

Chelsea rumours at the moment are little more than the classic stand-in of EVERYBODY IS GETTING SOLD and EVERYBODY ELSE IS GETTING BOUGHT, so not much of substance to comment on at the moment.

Obviously the one that's been doing the rounds the longest is Diego Costa, with some even claiming that a deal is done and will be announced after the Champions League Final. I'm a little more dubious, but the list of available strikers (keyword, available) of sufficient calibre to carry Chelsea's 2014/15 campaign is pretty damn sparse. This is even if we bring Lukaku back, because Ba is definitely off and I'm pretty sure one of Torres/Eto'o (possibly both!) will go as well, so we need at least one more option.

I have concerns that Costa would bring us the worst qualities of Luis Suarez (to the joy of Chelsea-bashers everywhere) and not necessarily be the kind of player we need, but we'll see I suppose.

Stoke City are poised to sign Dukla Banska Bystrica defender Dionatan Teixeira, Sky Sports understands. Teixeira has been on trial at Stoke recently and is thought to have impressed Potters boss Mark Hughes who is now ready to push through a deal for the Slovakian Under 21 international.

Sky Sports are claiming Liverpool want to sign Lallana before the World Cup. Would love him at Spurs, but for the first time in a few seasons, I think Liverpool will be getting there reported targets over us. :P

I just really want us to keep our players this window. We desperately need to try and hang on to them, buy two full backs, and get a proper manager in. I think Lloris will probably go unless a new manager convinces him otherwise, same with Vertonghen. And we'll see about Paulinho, who Chelsea apparently want.

It actually upsets me a bit that Diego Costa is younger than me. Same age, but technically younger.

How is this man 25?

In any case, I could see Southampton wanting to hold off on any Lallana deal until after the World Cup, so they can see if he does well there to drive up his price a bit. Certainly they're not in a rush to sell, however much Liverpool might want it done.
