JAMERVERSE

This is an alternative universe scenario for TEW 2013. The starting point was May 1996 - the infamous Curtain Call incident. In real life Kevin Nash and Scott Hall moved to WCW where they founded the New World Order, whereas in this scenario Nash and Hall are joined by Shawn Michaels and Paul Levesque and the Kliq become the dominant force in World Championship Wrestling. What follows is the rise and rise of WCW whilst the WWF would plummet to new depths. The struggles of the WWF would force Vince McMahon to take a lengthy sabbatical over the turn of the Millennium and leave control of his company to the only two people he could trust - Shane and Stephanie McMahon. As the WWF - which would later be rebranded the WWE - struggled, Vince made his return to running the company as he launched a new offensive to try and take down WCW.

At the current day WCW and WWE are locked in a fierce battle. For the first time in two decades many in the industry believe that Vince McMahon has finally took his promotion to the number one position whilst others argue that Eric Bischoff's WCW reigns supreme. Elsewhere Hulk Hogan's World Wrestling Allstars has gained in popularity whilst there is no love loss between the three companies described as the Kings of the Indies - Extreme Championship Wrestling, Chicago Championship Wrestling and Ring of Honour. The Jarrett's helped oversee the resurgence of the National Wrestling Alliance throughout the 2000's, and the NWA has big name promotions in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom under their umbrella.

SHAWN MICHAELS

Dubbed the most controversial man in professional wrestling, Shawn Michaels has reigned supreme in World Championship Wrestling for nearly two decades. In May 1996 Michaels deflected to WCW from the WWF along with Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Paul Levesque - with the WWF Heavyweight Championship in his position. The four men debuted as the Klique when they gatecrashed WCW Great American Bash in June 1996 and two months later helped Michaels capture the WCW Heavyweight Championship at Hog Wild from The Giant. Everybody who challenged - including Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Randy Savage and Sting - was turned away. Sting was defeated in the main event of Starrcade 1996 by Michaels as the Klique ran rough shot over WCW. Eric Bischoff was often the target of their verbal jabs whilst Hulk Hogan walked out in disgust of the attitude of the four invaders from up North. Michaels and company continued to burn bridges and often ran down Vince McMahon, Bret Hart, The Undertaker and other WWF superstars on Nitro - grudges to this day which are still held.

After a lengthy rivalry between the Klique and the Four Horsemen (which consisted of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock) which concluded in victory for the Klique at Fall Brawl in a War Games match, Michaels finally lost the WCW Championship at Starrcade '97 to the returning Hulk Hogan. 1998 saw friction develop in the Klique and led to a face turn for Michaels as the group he led turned on him. Kevin Nash led the fraction as Michaels seeked revenge, and at Bash at the Beach 98 Michaels finally pinned his former friend in a bloody steel cage match. The Klique disbanded throughout the summer, however when Michaels won the World War 3 Battle Royal in November 1998 he crossed paths with Nash once more at Starrcade for the WCW Heavyweight Championship where he was once again victorious.

This time Michaels reign was short lived as he lost the title at Superbrawl IX to Raven who was backed by his Flock. The Heart Break Kid went into chase mode and began to take out members of the Flock before he got his rematch at Great American Bash - and pinned Raven in a Raven's Rules match. Michaels would go on to drop the title at Starrcade in a battle with young star Bill Goldberg who had rampaged through the roster since his debut at the start of the year.

A neck injury in mid 2000 ruled Shawn Michaels out of action as he required surgery, and he was written out of action after an attack by his former friend Paul Levesque. Levesque claimed that he was taught everything he knew by Michaels and decided to take the teacher out of the Game. Michaels took a lengthy break from action and returned at Halloween Havoc 2003 where he cost Levesque the WCW Heavyweight Championship - and defeated his former friend in a Last Man Standing match at Starrcade. The rivalry between the two men ran until Uncensored where Michaels finally ended the rivalry in a Three Stages of Hell match. Michaels would go on to feud with another former Klique member Scott Hall throughout the summer which included a ladder match between the two men, before the Heart Break Kid would win World War 3 for the second time in his career. As he did six years previously the San Antonian would once again capture the WCW Championship when he defeated Ric Flair in the match of the year.

Michaels dropped the title the following night to debutant Kurt Angle. The 1996 Olympian has enjoyed success in the WWE before he jumped ship when his contract expired. The two had a rematch at Souled Out the following month before Shawn Michaels regained the title in a triple threat match at Superbrawl which also involved Ric Flair. Michaels fended off challenges from Booker T and Scott Hall until he lost the title to former rival Paul Levesque at the new August Pay-Per-View Beach Blast.

Michaels took a step back from the main event picture and after he defeated Air Paris at Starrcade 2005 he began to team with his nephew Matt Bentley. The duo captured the Tag Team Championship from the Dudley Boyz on a February edition of Nitro, and would go on to retain the titles in a tables rematch at Uncensored. Teams such as AJ Styles and Low Ki, The Shane Twins and even Marty Jannetty with his partner Sean Waltman challenged unsuccessfully before Michaels and Bentley would lose the gold to Petey Williams and John Cena at Great American Bash. Michaels would continue to team with his nephew before Bentley turned on his Uncle. Michaels refused to fight Bentley, however he was continuously provoked and after Bentley cost the Heart Break Kid a Championship match against holder Booker T at Halloween Havoc - Michaels accepted the challenge and lost to his nephew at Starrcade.

Shawn Michaels took his loss and had another break from action before he returned in late 2007 as the new Commissioner of WCW. Michaels called everything fairly, and by spring 2008 he drew the ire of WCW Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage. The two often exchanged a war of words throughout the spring which saw Michaels name himself as the special referee in Cage's title match at Great American Bash against Kurt Angle - however when he was provoked by the Champion Michaels attempted a Sweet Chin Music which instead caught Kurt Angle. Angle took issue with this and began his own rivalry with the Commissioner - which led to a heel turn for Michaels and he aligned with the Christian Coalition. Michaels would lose to the former Olympian at Starrcade which saw him removed from his position of power and fired from WCW.

The Heart Break Kid used his break to help train youngsters at his Texas Wrestling Academy before he returned at War Games 2009 as a mystery partner for Paul Levesque's team. Michaels, along with Ric Flair and Austin Aries, was victorious in a match which saw the five time WCW Champion work once again as a face. Michaels would go on to defeat Christian Cage at Starrcade that year to put the rivalry to bed.

Since then Michaels has worked a reduced schedule in WCW as he has attempted to spend less time on the road and more time with his family. Of note Michaels became a three time winner of World War 3 in November 2011 however he came up short at Starrcade in his bid to become a six time Champion when he lost to former one time ally Austin Aries. The Texan eventually captured his sixth title at Clash of the Champions in 2012 however his reign was short lived as Paul Levesque pinned him the following month at Spring Stampede. Michaels returned for a match against Cody Rhodes at Starrcade which saw the son of the Dream pick up the biggest win of his career. Michaels picked up a win of his own at Lockdown before he took a ten month break before he returned at World War 3 in November 2013. The San Antonian shone throughout the match before he was eliminated by George Murdoch. Murdoch had already been eliminated by Michaels but returned to the ring to take revenge on the former six time Champion.

After the Heart Break Kid pinned Murdoch at Starrcade he returned to his position as Commissioner which he has held since January. Michaels is still not afraid to dust off his boots however many feel that 2014 could see the end of his in-ring career.

JOE ANOA'I

If ever someone can unearth a gem, it's Paul Heyman. Several of the biggest names in professional wrestling made their name in ECW and Anoa'i looks to be the latest off the Heyman production line. A member of the famous Anoa'i family, Joe made an immediate impact when he made his debut at Heatwave 2012 as the mystery opponent to face ECW Television Champion Chris Hero. Hero retained his title via a count out, however he would not be as lucky two months later when the two clashed in a rematch at Anarchy Rulz. Anoa'i would hold the title for just over five months before he dropped it to Kazarian on Hardcore TV. Despite dropping the title, the fans got firmly behind the youngster thanks to his high impact offence and his cool characteristics he displayed outside of the ring. Whilst fans pushed for Anoa'i to challenge for the ECW Heavyweight Championship - Heyman knew that timing would be the key. He kept Anoa'i around the main event scene without integrating him with the ECW Heavyweight Champion Brodie Lee. The ECW owner sensed a money match between the two men, and whilst he gave Lee big victories over the likes of Tommy Dreamer and Rey Mysterio, Anoa'i would plough through the undercard before a short rivalry with Joe Hennig.

As 2013 wound to a close Anoa'i would become the number one contender to face Brodie Lee at Guilty as Charged. The match was one of the most intense in recent memory, and both men spilled blood before the Champion retained his title after a powerbomb through a table. Heyman had struck at the right time. Despite his defeat Anoa'i was now more popular than ever. The two would square off in a rematch at Living Dangerously in March, and the son of Sika would capture the ECW Heavyweight Championship after a Spear through a table - thus ending the 18 month title reign of the dominant Brodie Lee. Since then Anoa'i has fought off former rivals Joe Hennig and Kazarian however a new foe has stepped in his way. With talks of WWE, WCW, NWA and WWA all looking at him as a once in a generation superstar, Anoa'i knows decisions will come his way soon. Paul Heyman will need to pull on every trick he has learned to retain the services of his golden goose.
