Indeed. That's what Pochettino said in an interview recently.

To win the tournament (assuming they're seeded in the top pot for groups which should be the case as Tottenham are ranked 15th in all of Europe) Tottenham will probably have to play teams the equivalent of a midtable Premier, lower Premier and relegation/Championship team. In knockout you're looking at a couple of midtable equivalents, a top six or two and probably a top quality team.

Of course the difficulty is the increased travel, climate and pitch differences as well as different styles and the unknown element of European clubs. Still, theoretically it's probably easier to win the Europa League than the Premier League if you focus on it and prioritise.

Assumed this would be on TV, oh well. Strange that Bentaleb started ahead of Dembele and Sandro after starting on Saturday. Hope Soldado puts in a good performance! I think we looked best in pre season with him up top in terms of link up play.

Looking at the UEFA rules, they would take the 4th placed teams spot.

However, if 5th/6th/etc. won the Champions League in the same season, we'd have five spots.

You should do. Think it's happened a few times over the past few Europa League campaigns with you lot against teams like APOEL, don't fare so well away but end up smashing them 3/4-0 at home

Can't wait to see video of the two goals. AEL did well in their home legs in CL qualification so beating them 2-1 seems pretty good to me. Shouldn't be hard to close it out next week and get back to the joy of midweek games against teams from Macedonia or wherever!
