The Sims

Did anyone else used to play a week per family so that everyone aged at the same rate? I used to love creating elaborate stories across Pleasantview using that. I never did it with Strangetown though, naturally because time and space work differently in Strangetown.

2 days per family for me. Keeps it short enough to not get bored. Also two semesters per University go as well, that drags a bit though.

I am kinda interested in getting The Sims 4....

Did you play Sims 3? Sims has always been the EXPANSION PACK franchise but Sims 3 took microtransactions to straaaaaaaaaaange new places. I'm not the least bit interested in rewarding them for whatever they did with that franchise.

I decided to get it, because free stuff. Not sure if I'll ever get around to playing it, but it has been a while since I played any sims game (Was before The Sims 3 came out) so I may give it a bash at some point.

This is exactly what I did and plan to do again now its downloaded. I have the base game a few expansions but no stuff packs sitting on my shelf. But why not take advantage of this.

The Sims 4 is shipping without swimming pools, the Toddler stage, Create-A-Style, basements, grocery stores, schools/work, they're adding back loading screens between neighbours and changing some other stuff that just feels like a step backwards. They've also been extremely defensive about some of the basic feature removals and it just reeks of SimCity all over again.

Like, I understand that it can't all come at the same time and it's not like OH GOD, NO SWIMMING POOLS I WON'T BUY. But considering what happened specifically with SimCity and current attitudes towards EA money grubbing it's just a bad, bad sign.

....so you have to pay for pools, toddlers, basements, school/work? That's.....that's kinda stupid. Screw you EA, you don't get my money!

(Until November with Dragon Age)

There is still school/work in the base game to a certain extent. It's going to be the same as Sims 2 whereby they leave the lot and basically disappear for the duration of their work. So Sims disappear as opposed to going into rabbit-holes. Regardless, not keen on Sims 4 at all.

It's only rough the first time; after that, it gets a bit better.

Also, if you want to play windowed, right click The Sims 2 on Origin, Game Properties. In command line arguments, add "-w" , without the quotation marks. I also suggest you right click and update the game.
