My twitter stream features lots of calling "hoax" on it but a lot of legit news sources are tweeting it.

I hope it's a hoax, I don't want an actor I adored in my childhood to die on my birthday!

Just heard this. Shocking and really sad. One of the most lovable comedian/actors ever, and tMrs Doubtfire is a bona fide classic. RIP

I said this on FB and Twitter but - not a good year for the cast of Hook.

Robin Williams was one of my idols as a child. I pretty much ate up anything he did for years. I loved Mork and Mindy, Aladdin, Good Morning Vietnam and especially Hook. I've even got a soft spot for the movie Jack.

He was an incredibly funny, manic, performer and a really great actor at that. This is really sad.

Aw man, this is awful. I really loved the guy, he had some great movies under his belt and in everything I saw him in (interviews and whatnot) he seemed to be a legitimately cool person to hang around with.

RIP.

You've got to be cool to name your kid Zelda.

To think I was planning on watching Good Will Hunting for the first time tomorrow...

Rest in peace.
