One of the guys you can always count on to bring a good laugh out of even the silliest films like flubber etc. his serious stuff was amazing too, for someone so well known for comedy he was really versatile. To that, all I can say is, you clearly didn’t know them.

That's a pretty huge statement to make, especially without qualification. Especially when it's estimated 30-80% of suicide attempts go from initial ideation to completion within an hour. Even if we pretend that all suicides are pre-planned, she herself mentions how she hides her depression. Unfortunately your friends and family aren't as interested in your navel as you are, the whole point is that nearly everyone who attempts suicide does so without making a flashing sign that says 'I'm going to kill myself'. It's fucking ridiculous to act like the people left should have seen it coming and is pretty much a slap in the face to anyone who has interacted with someone who committed or has attempted suicide (especially since it's often a prevailing thought of the survivor). This sort of survivor shaming isn't helpful and makes me want to retch.

That's a bullshit statement. Only 3 people know about that time in my life when I was depressed and had the feeling to commit suicide, and only one of those 3 are family members. To say that is completely disgusting and a stupid shit thing to say.
