Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, Silent Hill(s), and You

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has long said he wanted to make a Silent Hillgame, and his first effort for the series has been revealed after months of teasing.

Strangely, Kojima has a couple big names working with him. A demo game called P.T.hit the PlayStation 4 today, and upon completion revealed vague details of the upcoming game Silent Hills. Three names come on screen before that title appears: Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, and Norman Reedus. The actor’s face is also seen as an in-game character (above).

I'm pretty excited for this.

Ditto, not just for Silent Hill (though I am incredibly excited for that), but for gaming in general. I feel like del Toro's involvement in particular is a strong assertion that the video game industry is finally being taken seriously by the mainstream as a legitimate story telling medium.

This might wind up the killer app that makes me get a PS4.

I'm really psyched for this, I love the Silent Hill games and I love Del Toro's work, winner combination for me.

I watched some videos on YouTube yesterday of the playable teaser thing. Seems to go from really good to start with, like really tense and setting a really creepy atmosphere, then just takes a massive downturn in becoming really dull and tedious.
