Dramatic moments in sport

If I'm going to do one for my team - 95/96 Division 1 play-off final between Leicester and Crystal Palace. Minutes to go in extra time and it looks like it's going to penalties, so Leicester bring on their penalty specialist keeper - Zeljko Kalac. Now Kalac is a shit goalkeeper, but he's been training for weeks just for this very instance, and is very good at stopping penalties anyway. He's known as "Spider" because it's like he's got eight legs when penalties come out. Oh and he's a ridiculous six foot seven.

Anyway, Kalac comes on, and Leicester get one last gasp shot at Palace's goal before we go to penalties. The mischevious bastard we know and love as Steve Claridge gets the ball - unmarked at the edge of the penalty area - Claridge shins it, not quite getting the ball, but it's enough to be on target. Palace's biggest problem was Nigel Martyn, who barely moved, and seemed to just be staring at the massive bastard that is Zeljko Kalac at the other end of the pitch. The goal goes in, Leicester win and get promoted back to the Premier League.

There you have it, the legacy of Zeljko Kalac at Leicester City. A man who played just two games for us and didn't even directly influence the way we went up and on to one of our greatest seasons in our little club's history. Zeljko Kalac is my hero.

I'm at work, can't see it. What is it?

Also, I should put a little note about Kalac being shit. Supposedly he wasn't shit, but the other game he played in for us he conceded three goals that were all his fault and were rookie errors. He may well have actually been good, but the two matches I saw weren't conducive to me seeing him as anything but shit :shifty:

There's a link to the Jimmy Glass, Soccer Saturday does not do it as much justice as it would nowadays. The other obvious football one to me was this classic, the game had it all and was at stage where the next goal won the match. Zola's celebration tops it off

Then for me personally the last minute away to Carlisle in the Playoff final in the -15 point season to send Leeds to Wembley. It's a shame we couldn't finish the job but this goal is always one of my personal favourites in a game that looked certain for extra time.

Scott Sattler's try saving tackle in the 2003 NRL Grand Final at a point where the next team to score probably goes on to win the game. There's another tackle after that, on this video clip but it's not as important.

Neither are one of my teams but Scott Sattler is the son of a legend from my favourite Rugby League team.
