4. Bona Drag by Morrissey (1990)

6. Moonrise Kingdom original soundtrack (2012)

Yeah I listened to this a bunch a couple weeks ago and then got distracted. This is a great soundtrack, and it's amazing that it took me two years to finally get it. It's mostly classical and choral music, primarily pieces by Benjamin Britten, but with a couple chansons and three Hank Williams tracks thrown in too, and a piece by the movie's composer too. Really beautiful stuff, and I'm so sad that my original plan to listen to it on part of my road trip to California fell through because of the road trip to California in and of itself falling through. Particularly because I think this is more of a fall/winter weather album, though since I live in Seattle that doesn't actually exclude more than a couple months...

Best Track: "Cuckoo!" is beautiful and succinct and I love it.

The Heist was great, some good tunes and some good lyrics, memorable stuff.
However, I didn't think Lonerism was good as the hype suggested. Maybe I just didn't get it, I particularly didn't think the instrumental was quality, or anything better than decent. I look at the rave reviews and I think I must have missed something. I'll have to listen to it again.
Three hundred to go!

I've mostly been listening to my random driving playlist to and from work on my last update and my iPod/Last.FM doesn't seem to be syncing/working for me to check exactly what albums I've listened to so this is mostly a guess. I've heard the Pearl Jam album before a few times, but I don't own it, so I listened on Spotify again. And it's amazing that even though I hadn't listened to Chocolate Starfish for quite a while, I still know all the words. Masterpiece.

56. 'Night Visions' by Imagine Dragons (15th November 2014)

57. 'Rats On Board' by Paddy and The Rats (16th November 2014)

Sonic Highways was very medicore, better than Wasting Light but still really quite missable.

To The 5 Boroughs was good, but very hit and miss, and the singles were by far the albums best.

2001 was pretty bad for the most part, it has moments of greatness (again, largely the singles), but it does have some stand out stuff too such as 'Bang Bang' and 'The Message'.

Like a Prayer is another single strong album, but there's other goods tracks like 'Dear Jessie' too.

Imagine Dragons album was really good, just some really catchy tunes throughout. I've not heard them before but hear about them a lot, honestly the entire album is worth a listen at least once.

Paddy and The Rats was amazing fun. It's drunken Celtic pirate songs done in a punk style by a bunch of Hungarians in English. Literally every song is just unabashed fun. It's not going to top any 'best album' lists, but it's entertaining as hell.

7. Fosbury by Tahiti 80 (2005)

Tahiti 80 were the band I selected for France in the last EWB Eurovision and quickly became really fond of, and luckily an online music service I use had one of their albums for me to peruse. They're a really strong indie pop group. To use a cheap writing out, in a way they remind me of Belle & Sebastian except less academic/quirky and way dancier. They stray from a pretty basic formula later on in the album, though, and I don't like the results as much; there's a track that's a duet with some lady and it's really awful. I'd be more specific than that but it's been a few days since I listened to it because I am PROACTIVE on this.

Best Track: "Something About You Girl" is one of the slower tracks on the album and benefits from it. It stands out and is wonderfully pleasant/chill.

Like Clockwork was pretty good, "If I Had a Tail" would be my pick of the tracks. You know what you're getting with Queens of the Stone Age.
The XX's debut starts out pretty strong, but is let down by a middle in which the quality goes down and the songs become dull, adds to the notion that the XX can be very boring at times. It does end on a high note, love Night Time as a song and Stars is a good conclusion. Decent overall.
Love the sound for most of AM, another strong start to an album that turns out decent. I Wanna Be Yours and Arabella are the low points.
Like most of Kasabian's work, stick to the singles, save yourself some time.

8. Give 'Em Enough Rope by The Clash (1978)

The one Clash album that I'd never heard that I want to hear (sorry, Cut the Crap). To be honest, I'm sure I knew of its existence at points in time but it always slipped my attention, I think because none of the songs on it are the ones that have major presence in America. It's a pretty good album but at the same time I've listened to it two or three times now and there isn't a single song where I'm like holy shit "THAT'S THE SONG." I like it as a bridge between the self-titled (maybe my favorite Clash album. That or Combat Rock) and London Calling, though. Hopefully a song will fully seep into my consciousness from it soon.

Best Track: "Julie's Been Working For the Drug Squad" is currently in the lead on the "becoming the song I love from this album" race. How can you resist a song title like that.

Because I can, and because I totally do not give a fuck about your rules and regulations, I am restarting and attempting this again. And I am also blatantly stealing GoGo's format because I do not have any original thought. Ever. Plus, I realized that doing this consecutively was the death of the last attempt so do not expect an update every day.
1. Joe Morello, by Joe Morello (1989?)
FAVORITE TRACK(S): "Brother Jack", "My Time Is Your Time" and "Sounds of the Loop"
I have long been a fan of the Dave Brubeck quartet and I have now begun to explore each individual members discography. After listening to the live recording At Carniege Hall, Joe Morello, the drummer, sprung at me most immediate and thus, I headed to WiMP to find something of his to stream. There was only this compilation or anthology, I am not sure since it is not listed anywhere what exactly it is, but it definitely caught my attention. Joe Morello has some sweet solos here as does Gary Burton on vibraphone and Phil Woods on both alto sax and clarinet. There are some high tempo big band compositions here as well. Basically, this is almost like a Dave Brubeck quartet album but with Joe Morello and the drums taking the place of Dave Brubeck and piano. You should fully expect to see more Morello-led albums here, besides Paul Desmond and Eugene Wright if I can find any, and a few by Gary Burton and Phil Woods will probably pop up as well before I am done.

All okay albums, none stood out (though I am still listening to 'Enclosure' as I type and it's the usual interesting eclectic Frusciante album, and the strongest of the field), but equally nothing particularly bad. 62 albums in 56 days, a bad week or so for being able to focus on it has caught up with me a little, but I'm still nearly a week ahead of schedule, so no big deal.

I really like Warpaint, a wonderful band with some great tunes. Shadows and Bees were the highlights.
I don't think Biffy Clyro are a great band, certainly nothing special, but they know how to write a catchy song. Only Revolutions is a testament to this. Fun listen.
Ramones were a good quick listen, bit samey in some parts but that's punk music sometimes.
Seeds was lovely.

1. Joe Morello, by Joe Morello (1989)
FAVORITE TRACK(S): "Brother Jack", "A Little Bit of Blues", "My Time Is Your Time" and "Sounds of the Loop"
2. Rhythm, Chord & Melody, by The Reign of Kindo (2008)
FAVORITE TRACK(S): "Hold Out"
This sounded like a bunch of careless John Mayer clones got together to record an album. Yes, it was very clear that all five guys were extraordinarily talented at however many instruments they each individually play and lord, they must have received praises for their technical skills but Rhythm, Chord & Melody was one of safest and most boring records I have heard in a long while. Which made realizing their obvious talent even more excruciating since they are wasting it indulging in yawn-inducing jazz rock and indie pop. There was one glimmer of hope when the tempo and instrumentation picked up on the final song but it did not last. What a waste.
3. Who is Gary Burton?, by Gary Burton (1962)
FAVORITE TRACK(S): "Storm", "Get Away Blues", "My Funny Valentine"

I did my full listen-through of this on Tuesday, on a day where I was angry at a whole lot of people and a whole lot of situations, and Seattle was in full November gloom with fog and pouring rain and no sky to be seen. It was pretty perfect for that. In general I don't really go for darker, heavier stuff as much, particularly with hip-hop, but I definitely needed this album on that day. The verbal dexterity on display is pretty fucking sick too, especially in the second and third tracks. "Oh My Darling Don't Cry" is a really close second, but...

Best Track: "Blockbuster Night Part 1" is the first single off the album, which makes sense because it's the song that's been stuck in my head off and on for the last two days. Plus, "I Jake the Snake 'em, DDT 'em in mausoleums." ENJOY THAT, NERDS. (Though actually bias aside, "Top of the morning, my fist to your face is fucking Folgers" is probably the best line.)

I can't understand a word of Rammstein, I doubt many can, but I liked what I heard. Liked a few tracks I heard before, the whole album is good.
Leave Home is better than the first album, more good stuff and I'll probably go through more of the Ramones' catalogue.
Gloss Drop and Tourist History were decent.
Globalization is pretty bad, like really bad. It doesn't even do songs about alcohol and arses correctly.

As much as I liked Portal Of I, Citadel really confirmed my suspicion with Ne Obliviscaris and well, progressive metal in general - they easily fall into the trap of being soulless and progressive for complexitys sake, not for the sake of the music. I am not saying it was a bad album, it was just so tame and tedious compared to Portal Of I, which had charm and quite a few memorable passages.

Is anyone else starting to struggle with new music? I'm listening to so much I don't feel it's got time to sink in and enjoy it with re-listens. Thinking I may add albums I've already listened to (only the once though) so I also have time to absorb the new music. Plus it'll help me list the discographies I have already listened to.
