I got it, and it isn't great. Borderlands has always been somewhat run and gun, but this takes it to ridiculous, nearly unplayable levels. Most fights are just abusing your special ability and/or dying then respawning over and over until you win with no actual tactics.

The anti-gravity stuff is no fun in combat and just causes way too much mayhem to be interesting

The O2 requirement is beyond daft (seriously, you know those water levels on Sonic that no-one likes? The entire game has that mechanic for pretty much it's entirety aside from a few safe zones).

The characters aren't anywhere near as interesting as previous games.

The vehicles and jumps are beyond broken (and it's not just me being shit, I thought it was at first but I've seen numerous people complain about it).

Half the missions are just go from point A to point B and shoot some guys with little to no variance and no discernible reason.

I dunno, I just expected a lot more. Borderlands 2 was great and improved everything about the first one, but this just falls flat in comparison. It's still fun sometimes, but I'll likely only complete it because I resent paying £40 for a game and not finishing it.

That sucks to hear, I was interested in seeing how it'd be to play as Claptrap.

I've yet to play as Claptrap (saving him for multi), but I imagine he would be more enjoyable as I don't think as a robot he'd need O2 to survive, which at least takes away one of the gripes.

I did, but I like to have separate characters for solo and multi, but with the lack of people to play multi with on here I feel like I've missed out now

To be fair, I actually started a new playthrough of Borderlands 1 last night with the intention of getting through 1 & 2 before deciding on the Pre-Sequel. If anyone wants to jump in, just throw me on your Steam list: thatshortguy.

He's apparently got an annoying special ability, but I think the oxygen thing probably makes him the best option there is.

I don't know who thought adding the oxygen element was good idea, but they should fire that guy.

I've got it as well and I am really not seeing the problem with oxygen. I've nearly suffocated a few times and only ever lost oxygen once. In a fire-fight, seemingly every enemy drops oxygen containers and each one recovers a quarter of your tank. Oxygen geysers are all over the place and so far, so are atmosphere "safe-zones." And they're shown on the mini-map, if you just alter your path slightly, it will never be an issue.

But therein lies the problem. Missions are largely "go from a to b" which is dull enough. Add in detours for oxygen and you've got a stupid waste of time.

I'm also being a bit biased towards this system because I personally like the different environment from 2 since it is basically the same game and the oxygen system gave it a new feeling. And the fact that O2 kits are so, so much better than those worthless relics.
