So here lately I've been on a country kick, listening to a lot of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, alongside the likes of Johnny Horton, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Jerry Reed, Charlie Daniels, etc. and it got me to thinking about modern-day "outlaw country". What's good out there? I know of (and like) most of Hank III's country work, and I know about Dale Watson, but who else is out there making/still making country music that way?

Bob Wayne is pretty good, but maybe a bit too in your face with the OUTLAW WHISKEY DRINKING DRUG DOING MIDDLE FINGER MOTHER FUCKER. Still, worth a look.

Sounds like Hank III, honestly. I'll have to check him out.

He apparently had a part in recording the Damn Right, Rebel Proud Hank III album in 2008. That's probably where you've seen them linked. Do you have any specific song recommendations for him?
