Cheltenham Betting Competition

Just for a bit of fun (unless you want to actually go down to the bookies and put the bets on, I guess), let's pretend we're betting on the famous Cheltenham festival.

The rules:

£100 a day, any not spent isn't carried over.

Must bet on each race.

Minimum bet £5.

Minimum each way bet £5 e/w (so £10)

Each way bets will pay down to whatever the bookies are generally paying.

All prices will be based on SP

All money won is banked and you start afresh with £100 the next day.

Good start for Colly and LCS with an each way placing at 9/1, so you guys will be banking £16.25 at a minimum.

And since we may as well use this to discuss Cheltenham generally, I'll definitely take a Douvan win since I've stuck an accumulator and 4 trebles on Douvan, Un De Scaux, Faugheen and Annie Power. This is a good start.

Bloody falling horse stopped Lami Serge from placing

I stuck £2.50 e/w on Josses Hill and doubled my money, which is nice.

My arse went a bit on the second to last there but Un De Scaux won it at 4/6 by a few lengths in the end. Thrilla banks £20 after an each way place from Bosses Hill at 12s

So as it stands I'm banking 16.66, 41p ahead of Colly and LCS, NBT leads with £20.

And also I'm 2 down and 2 to go with my "hope all the favourites win" bet.

Azure Fly is my big outsider, if that comes in you're all toast

To be honest, no one seems to have much of a clue on this one.

Honestly, I think it is too much of a step up for Azure Fly but it is a horse I regularly back so figured I'd stick with it. I also got a free bet from Paddy, so have stuck that on Pendra.

Wish I'd backed the bleeder now! Druids Nephew puts me well in front with an 8/1 £10 e/w way win, so that banks me £120.

Another winner for me with Faugheen but only £15 at 4/5, so that's another £27 in my bank. LCS put 30 on it, so he's banked 54.

Now come on Annie Power, let's take the bookies to the cleaners.

I turned €2 into €21 so I'm happy! Backed Douvan and the first race and put the winnings on Hurricane Fly to place in the Champion Hurdle.

Going to stop while I'm ahead for the day now!
