Finally made it to the 50% completion mark for Shadows Of Mordor. I'll spoiler in case anyone doesn't want to know what happens and plans to play the game.

The Hammer was not that hard at all. A couple of combat finishers pretty much took care of him though he does have a couple of decent attacks. Just made it through the huge ass cave full of ghouls and killed the Ghoul Matron. Now I've met Torven who says he'll show me where more artifacts are located. I just don't trust the little dwarf!

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS: WAR OF THE LIONS

Hooray, advancement! But seriously, fuck that first grind.

I over-grinded (over-ground?) and swept Map 5 with ease, ditto Maps 6 and 7, and then the game froze at the start of Map 8 so I called it a night. Already intrigued by the story, and I do not like Algus; I regret saving the dick. Delita seems more like the hero right now, but I like Ramza too, I'm sure he'll become more of a hero as the story goes on, and it'll be interesting to see what happens between him and his family.

Also, the names for classes weird me out. It's a "Black Mage", not a "Wizard", damnit!

This thread inspired me to finish Valkyria Chronicles, having got about halfway through a couple of years ago. Back then, I thought it was a quaint little game with a nice art style, but now, I think it's a fantastic experience all round. The gameplay is a really refreshing blend of strategic and puzzle elements, and in the vein of XCOM, the deaths of your squad members can really hurt. The story, though little more than a twee retelling of World War II with a sprinkling of fantasy elements, still had its emotionally impactful moments, and by the end of the game, I had grown attached to a lot of the characters. There are a few sharp difficulty spikes, but once you come to terms with the game's nuances, completing missions becomes a very rewarding experience, and that's coming from someone who usually shies away from challenging games. If you haven't already given it a try, put it on your Steam wishlist or try to find a cheap PS3 copy.

Loved me some Valkyria Chronicles but never finished it. If I had a PS3 still, I'd be all over this. Cherry Stijnen, the shocktrooper, might be one of my favourite characters ever and I'm still not sure why.

EDIT: And there's not many more satisfying feelings then when you really need your sniper to pull off a headshot and they do it. The Irish sniper was amazing for this.

I have five left on inFamous: First Light which need to be done in an annoying order.

1. Score 500,000 on one of the Arenas (I've done all the others, this one is just harder, somehow.)

2. Score 10,000,000 points total (Cumulative, so not as hard as it sounds. Closing in on it.)

3. Complete all challenges (The above two are conveniently the last two challenges.)

4. Buy all upgrades (I have one upgrade left, which I can't afford until I've gotten the rest of the challenges done to have enough currency to buy it.)

5. Platinum (Unlocks at the end anyway)

It would be a lot easier to get the last Arena done if I had that last power up, but I can't buy it until I beat the Arena :P

Completed Chapter 1 and killed that toad Algus, which gave me great pleasure. Chapter 2 part done an Gafgarion just betrayed me. I'm going to assume that I'm going to get two guests each chapter, and each time one of them will betray me

 Thankfully, whilst Gafgarion was a great companion, he was an easy opponent, and I was delighted to see Delita still alive and still being the hero that Ramza isn't just yet.

One thing I do have to say - I adore the soundtrack. Iwata and Sakimoto really utilize the sound to full effect in this game. Really enjoying it so far, and aside from that initial grind, none of it has felt particularly like a chore. Some classes are clearly inferior and it's frustrating (archer is great, but having to gauge my range every time I move is annoying), but I guess that's the learning process. Once I have Dragoon/Lancer and Dark Knight, I'll be very happy.

WHY IS EVERYONE BETRAYING ME AND EVIL?! I don't even trust Ramza at this point, and everyone else seems intent on keeping secrets for no good reason. Summoners are my new most hated enemy, so I always take them out first (and converted my white mage into one so she had some better attacking options than her meager black magic spells). Just about to go to the execution site which, according to the guide, is the first of the three maps of this chapter. I kind of hope Gafgarion winds up turning back to the side of good because he was useful, and apparently the PS1 version (which is what I'm playing) doesn't have any other dark knights

:(

Ramza is my Lancer/Dragoon and is tearing shit up. Love it.

I decided to use a similar format to Benji for progress tracking, since its his thread and all. Also I just really wanted to use a picture.

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION

Using How Long to Beat as a guide it suggests 44 hours to finish the main story and 82 for 'main and extras' while 120+ for a fully complete game. I guess the way I'm playing is leading to the middle once since my save is at 41 hours and I'm (as far as I know) about half way through. I don't mind leaving out stuff that's not essential to the story since there's a good chance that when some DLC drops I'll want to level up a little more beforehand.

Details of my game spoilered because, well spoilers.

I'm playing as an Elven female who is a mage for maximum pissing people off. Notable things that have happened recently; learned the true fate of Divine Justinia after being in the Fade for a while, Hawke sacrificed himself to allow us to escape while Stroud survived and will do his best to rebuild the Wardens (I suspect I'll need them by the end of the game). Varric and Dorian are my best pals after helping them with all their personal shit. Sera loves me, but still gets pissy every time something slightly weird happens. Viv is annoying, Blackwall and Solas are good and Cassandra is having a mood swing every five minutes.

Sitting in judgment. I made Alexius work for me, studying magic under strict supervision (after a crazy time travel trip) and I sent the Mayor of Crestwood to join the Wardens. I felt it was appropriate since his crime was a by product of him trying to stop Darkspawn.

I've done a load more stuff too but that's just the most interesting things, I shall be more detailed as I'm going along. I'm now heading to the Fallow Mire for the first time despite it being available for ages.

Looking at that website tells me that I'm apparently either slow or wasting a lot of times since it says I should be able to beat SoM to completion in 30 hours and I'm currently at 23 hours with 50% of the game left.

I never pay attention to those things, because I spent a lot of time on SoM just running around slaughtering Uruks for fun. Completion is all relative to how you play the game anyway.

That's pretty much what has taken a lot of my time. I thought that I could eliminate all of the guard so I spent a lot of time at the beginning trying to do that before I just gave up because they kept getting replaced.

Only moved forward one map yesterday due to laziness. I tried to do the next map but chose a weak team and realised I'd fucked myself by doing that, so decided to leave it.

One thing that's really pissing me off is the All-Seeing AI. Every time I use a spell, they know to move close to one of my people, and it's pissing me off.

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION

Had an awesome session yesterday, put in just short of 12 hours (yeah, I was zero productive in real life affairs). I did tonnes of companion missions and a few other smaller quests as well as the huge Orlesian Ball quest, saved Celene and supported her on the Throne. Blackwall has vanished though

:( hopefully I'll come back across him sooner than later. Morrigan joins the Inquisition, along with her creepy son. She's keeping quiet about the events that ended Origins and obviously I know what she's not saying, but no one in game does. I think I can trust her though. I'm getting annoyed at not yet unlocking my specialisation (Rift Mage) because no one seems to want to drop one more Venatori Tome. I mean, I'm doing fine and annihilating just about everyone.. but it'd be nice to have all those extra abilities for when I get to the end.

Speaking of, I looked it up and I have 3 story quests left. So today I shall focus on any more companion quests which are available as well as anything that sounds important (I guess things that use 'power' to unlock are quite important). First things on the agenda are taking it to the Red Templars on the Storm Coast and then going to the Western Approach to sort out some Darkspawn nonsense. Oh and I had the Iron Bull thing too, I saved the chargers instead of the Qunari Dreadnaught.. as far as I'm concerned they are just as much a part of the Inquisition as Bull. He's now Tal-Vashoth, which he's sad about but he's 100% onside with me which is nice.

RE:DA

Did you struggle with the Orlesian Ball at all? I spent ages at one point trying to figure out what to do next >_> Did you import from DA Keep or just go with default world?

I imported from the Keep. As for the ball, I spent a fair bit of time gettting confused by the quest markers on the maps because they kept shifting. Sometimes they signified 'this general area' and other times 'what you want is past these stairs.. somewhere' so I started ignoring them and exploring on my own. Which was great until the bell was ringing and I was 'late' which meant the court approval would rapidly go down

<_< Ah well, got through it anyway!

Only played about an hour of Shadows Of Mordor today. Went back to Udun to make sure that I had covered all the Rescue the slaves missions...and then went and got Celebrimbor's crown. So I'm at about 53% now. I hope to get a good couple of days in over the next week or so and will hopefully be able to beat it within that time.

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION

Yesterday I put in about the same amount of time, my playtime is around 60 hours although I don't seem to have been anywhere near as productive.

I got Blackwall back and did quests with/for Sera, Josephine and Cassandra. Found out the truth about the Seekers (of truth). Got sidetracked doing a bunch of side stuff, mos of which was pointless other than gaining power to move on to the next story quest. Had a few attempts at dragons too and failed miserably both times. Going to be a little more careful what I choose today to get the most out of my time.

I also just wasted half an hour changing the colour of everyone's costumes <_<

Just had a quiet couple of days doing some leveling to even out some squad members (mostly chocobos, who I have discovered are incredibly efficient so long as they're protected). Going to get to about Level 17 with everyone (which is what the next opponent is) and then go in for the fight. Definitely need to get Ramza that ability to go anywhere with no problems though, because it's a big jump down from the gate he starts at.
