Mad Max Fury Road *SPOILERS*

Fuck it, I want to talk about the movie without it getting lost in General. Did anyone notice the re-use of the bug out eye shot from Road Warrior? Or the Duran Duran Wild Boys reference? "Who are we? WAR BOYS WAR BOYS WAR BOYS!" Lots of little things in there that were pretty cool.

Holy shit is this movie ridiculous. Like, in the best possible way. I haven't seen a movie like this in a long time, it just starts at 200 MPH and never slows down.

I had free passes to a sneak preview, I'm still going to pay to see it in a theatre again.

I can't think of a single movie like this. I tried explaining it to someone and came up blank.

I loved it. It was a glorious, insane, overly dramatic, overly ambitious mess, and I fucking loved it. There were enough little callbacks to the original and Road Warrior to make me smirk, but for the most part it was completely its own beast. I love that there was very little exposition, it didn't hold your hand through it, just threw you right in at the deep end and took you along for the ride. It felt like Road Warrior with a budget, which is pretty much all I want from a post-apocalypse movie. Fucking brilliant.

That was exactly what I thought. It was like George Miller said "fuck it, I've got the money now. Let's just redo the whole tanker scene the way I wanted it".

Pretty sure that's exactly what he did.

There are so many god damn characters in this movie that I want to know more about. I got lucky enough to stumble upon some more backstory on the guitar motherfucker, but.. holy shit. I want to know more about Immortan Joe, Furiosa (well, the next movie is going to be focused on her I think anyways), the War Boys... every faction. Lordy lord.

Did they ever name Joe's brides? Like, on the Wikipedia page they all have names, but I don't recall any of them ever being called by name at any point in the movie. Then again, I struggled to hear like half of Joe's dialogue, so I could have easily missed it.

Holy shit was that good. Absolute bat shit crazy and doesn't slow down at all. Was on the edge of the seat through out. Gutted its over.

Only complaint I had was the Warriors vibe I got from the tribes. War Boys all look the same, Bullet Farm leader has a bullet shell headdress, the Gas Town leader is a stereotypical fat oil tycoon, the bikers all have the same outfit. Seemed a bit cheesy to me.

Still, going for a second time this weekend!

I already wanna watch it again.

Proper thrill ride of a movie.

I'm resorting to watching pretty much every slightly-different trailer I can find. It's not a very efficient way to relive a film, but it helps.

I'm re-watching the originals, and found a theory. Miller has said the movies were never written with a chronological order in mind, but obviously Road Warrior comes after Mad Max, and Thunderdome comes 3rd.

Well this guy I'm reading says he thinks Fury Road is actually 3, and that the weird Voodoo kid in Beyond Thunderdome could be one of the dispersed War Boys after Immortan Joe died. Neat thought.
