I can't believe Justine lost in the 1st round. That really opens things up for Serena & Sharapova now. As long as Serena doesn't win, I really don't care who does, but that's always asking for a lot at Wimbledon considering she has more advantages on grass than most of the field.

Msut congratulate Henman. Great game. He's getting old and will definetely feel the game tomorrow. But still, he put in a marvellous performance.

6-4, 6-3, 6-0 - Nadal, what a performance for such a young player, we should all seriously look at him then look at Andrew Murray, fine Murray talented and promising but the english press put far too much pressure on all british sports stars, this is why we feel Tim is so disappointing every year.

If we all look realistically, since tim started he was never going to win a Grand Slam - i really hope he does - but he wont, you could tell today watching the game, McEnroe and Connors(whilst he was there) were commentating realistically whereas our English commentator - was it Castle? - was building him up for the tournament far too much.

I just feel with the likes of Federer, Nadal, Safin and Roddick, he will find it too hard to win - especially since he will be more fatigued due to his struggling performance today.

Anyway, is it just me or does anyone else think there is too much hype for Murray, especially when you compare him to Nadal. Nadal is like Rooney whereas Murray is like Aaron Lennon at this moment in time.

I hope Henman and Murray prove me wrong! (Y)

Why do you keep having Nadal as a big candidate to win the Wimbledon? Nadal isn't a grass player. Of course he's good enough to go past the first couple of rounds, but he will struggle from the moment he gets stronger opponents who are grass specialists.

Also, include Hewitt in the list of candidates to be in the last rounds, as he seemed to be in great shape in the first round, which while doesn't prove anything cause all candidates win most of the times, it's enough to see how strong each one is coming into the tournament. Henman played a great game today and never gave up. I'm not british but i have to be the one to say he played very well today, and had the strength of spirit to not let his hopes die when he was 2 sets down and behind in the third. I don't believe he will win Wimbledon nor close cause he just isn't up to par with the best there are currently in the world, but to say he's shit is a huge understatement.

As for the womens draw, I've just seen the highlights of the majority of the games that i hadn't seen yet, and i must say the women who look the strongest to me among the favourites so far are Sharapova, Kuznetsova, Clijsters and Davenport. Dementieva was very strong in the first round too, but i can't see her challenging for the win in the end.

I wouldn't say there's a huge gap between Nadal and Murray in terms of ability. There's a gap certainly but it's not that big. The big difference is the size, for a 19 year old Nadal is huge. He's so much more powerful than anyone else around his age, that's why he stands out so much. Murray will gradually get stronger, he is only just 18, and as a result he'll improve.

But yeah he is overhyped, but that's no different to any other semi-decent British sports star. Take a look at football, as soon as England win a game convincly (see: Northern Ireland) we're world beaters all of a sudden.

Nadal is a huge star already, with a Grand Slam under his belt, 6 titles this year, is without question one of the two best players in the world right now, and the ONLY person out there who Federer hasn't looked great against in the last two years. Murray is 3-2 on the season, so for you to say that the gap in talent isn't that big just seems ludicrous. Hell, the gap between Federer/Nadal and the rest of the top 10 right now is huge, and Murray's not even in the top 100. There's no guarantee any player will get better over time, so I'm not trying to look at potential, because that's ultimately a crapshoot.

I'm not disputing that Nadal is a star. However, I don't think that many people can doubt that Murray will become a top 50 player at least. If you look throughout the top 50 there isn't a great deal of difference between number 2 and number 50 in terms of ability (obviously this excludes Federer since he's a class above everyone). I certainly wouldn't say Nadal has more technical ability than a Grosjean or a Coria. Point is, they are all top class tennis players and all have the ability to beat eachother. What makes certain players more succesful are the physical and mental sides of the game.

Yeah but i think the point is, whether Murray become a top 50 player, he still wont win a Grand Slam like the media is claiming he will do one day. Today they all like had a party that he beat an ageing and to be fair less then mediocre swiss, of course he should be winning those matches, hes overrated like every british sports star like i said earlier.
