Can someone quickly summarise MGRising for me? It's the only entry I've never played.

I love the whole series and think Hayter was amazing but I know Sutherland will do a great job too.

Takes place 2-4 years after MGS4, you're the character from MGS2 turned into a cyborg ninja, you cut the shit out of things.

That's it really, I wasn't really interested in MGR's plot at all.

I liked Portable Ops, mostly cos it was MGS on PSP. Also had the vouce of Dwight Schultz. Squad sysyem was interesting.

Shopto, and I did it on like, Tuesday/Wednesday. Thought it would come Monday, was pleasently surprised.

Well, Monday is a Bank Holiday, so you'd presumably be waiting until Tuesday if it didn't come today. I've read that Shopto and SimplyGames have been sending orders out early, but I'm not sure about any other sites.

Shopto do have a rep of sending games out early, and besides, I have alot of credit with them now.

I almost always use Shopto for pre-orders, although that's not saying much because I rarely pre-order. This time, however, I used Tesco because they had a great deal on it several months ago, and I also managed to combine Clubcard Boost vouchers with employee discount at the time. I probably won't get it until Tuesday, but I saved a significant amount of money. Waiting for the next few days will be tough, though.

If anyone has it on Steam you can play it/download it from 1PM GMT on Monday. Apparently the download is about 25GB so I should be playing by 2PM

25GB? That seems tiny compared to what I thought it would be.

That's the PS4 download size, it might be bigger on PC but I can't find any solid info.

25gb is the opening cinematic to give you something to watch while the actual game downloads.

I saw a tweet asking them why it's so small and they said "because of better technology".

It seems believable to me, even if it is surprising. Kojima Productions have done a fantastic job in creating the Fox Engine, which has been very well optimised for the hardware they're working with. The in-game textures are actually considerably less detailed than in most other open-world games, but the lighting effects are so good that, not only is it difficult to notice, but the game also runs at 60fps on current-gen consoles, an achievement that's eluded most other developers. It makes sense, therefore, that the studio might be able to make such an efficient use of file space.

Its such a waste.  Take the time to create something like the Fox Engine, which can make a game look absolutely beautiful...then decide to go to strictly mobile-only games
