I know they're not connected and all that but I really need to watch Seasons 1 and 2...

They are connected, though.

I know some of the connection (maybe the whole thing) between the seasons but without watching I cannot verify!

I will change this soon.

That's more like it.

Spoiler

Haven't revived this thread because I've never had much more than "David Thewlis is really good" or "hey, that LA trip was kind of interesting except for Mac the Cop," but it feels like we're finally getting somewhere really compelling. Putting Varga and Gloria in the same room, finally, and having Varga realize that he's going to have a way harder time doing his information-gatherer schtick on her because she's the one person as invisible online as he is was great, and while I didn't see Ray's death coming he's definitely the one who needed to go to up the stakes. He was the most expendable central character by far and his death makes both Nikki and Emmit more interesting going forward.

I really enjoyed the feature length premier for season three. Wasn't entirely sure at first, but where all the main characters were left at the end was quite compelling.

These last two episodes have been stunning. This season started out a bit blander than the first two, but it managed to get better and better as it went on (including a really phenomenal stand-alone episode early on) and now I'm pretty hyped to see how it ends.

Yeah, this season was basically mostly so-so buildup for really, really good payoff. I'm delighted, and finally broke my long run of not doing theme names in honor of it.

Finished binging this show early last week and wow, incredible. I usually don't watch a lot of TV but the first few minutes of the pilot convinced me that this was right up my alley. A shoutout to Zan's mafia game for making me aware of this show.

I think my feeling on that one was "oh, this is objectively good and also I didn't enjoy it." It's clearly a good evocation of the No Country For Old Men/A Serious Man types of Coen Brothers endings but I don't think I want those in a story that runs over ten hours as opposed to the two to 2.5 hours the movies run.

Spoiler

I think if you have Molly Solversson and, say, Lorne Malvo or Lester Nygaard in the place where Gloria Burgle and V.M. Varga are, I don't care as much. But Varga is so irredeemably awful and disgusting that not getting true, genuine comeuppance for him in the way every other Fargo villain has gotten in one form or another and getting the Schrodinger's Cat ending instead just drove me nuts, particularly after Llewellyn Moss'ing Nikki twenty minutes prior.

EDIT: also for posterity's sake, I changed the thread title because "don'tcha know" seems to be the one Midwesternism the show pretty much eschewed. SORRY BENJI (though I dunno if you read this thread anymore anyway)

Fargo season 4 is set in the 50s, with Chris Rock as the first cast member announced. Damn.

Here's the bulk of the cast for season 4.

Of special note: Jason Schwartzman! Jack Huston! Ben Whishaw as a character named Rabbi Milligan, what an interesting surname!

I was literally thinking about Fargo last night, for the first time in ages. Very excited to see how this next season ends up looking.
