It's a shame they only do the weekend. Chris Sale struck somebody out last week and it moved so much that after he swung and missed, it still hit the batter in the leg.

Damn it. I was hoping he'd ask for so much they wouldn't be able to afford it and he'd he pitching in the Bronx on Opening Day 2017. :(

Is it really a shame Meacon?  http://www.pitcherlist.com/blog/gifs-of-the-week/zach-brittons-fastball-the-nastiest-pitching-gifs-of-the-week

IS IT!? (Sale's pitch is a few down, won their pitch of the week poll)

Raul Mondesi, who debuted last year for the Royals in the World Series, has been suspended for 50 games for PEDs. Claims he tested positive because of an OTC flu medicine he took in the Dominican Republic.

Free PRO TIP for Curt: it's not about liberal or conservative, it's about you saying buttfuckingly stupid things practically all the time.

That deal's only saving grace is that d'Arnaud has been too hurt to live up to his hype.

Yeah, I've just about given up on d'Arnaud.  He simply can't stay healthy and he his defense is reminiscent of Piazza (calls a great game behind the plate but has a terrible arm).  Unfortunately though his bat isn't on the same stratosphere as him so it becomes hard to make the defensive trade-off.

There were more goodies in that trade beyond Thor and d'Arnaud, too.  Wuilmer Becerra who was just a throw in outfielder has started to tear up the minors to the point where the Mets might need to stick him on their 40-man roster this offseason to avoid being plucked by another team for the Rule 5 draft.  And John Buck was a rental player for the Mets and then he got traded to Pittsburgh for their 2B of the future, Dilson Herrera.

The trade is the gift that keeps on giving.  :D

Matt Bush played in his first major league game last night since being drafted #1 overall by the Padres in 2004. A few weeks after he was drafted in 2004, he was arrested on a number of charges after trying to fight security escorting him out of a bar, and then in early 2009 he was caught on film assaulting a high school lacrosse player with a golf club. He was designated for assignment, picked up by the Blue Jays, and then released a month later for assaulting a woman at a party.

Then in 2012 he was arrested and charged with DUI, and, among other things, causing serious bodily injury to a motorcyclist, driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crime. He spent time in prison for that and was released in October of last year, and then signed by the Texas Rangers in a Golden Corral parking lot in December - he's on a zero tolerance policy much like when he was with the Jays, and he can't drink and drive (among other things) and his father has to live with him wherever he lives.

Last night he was called up to the majors where he pitched a perfect ninth inning against the likes of Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnion and Josh Donaldson.

Rangers still lost though.

If the umpiring crew in this Mets/Rockies series doesn't get a suspension or at minimum some sort of reprimand from the league office it's a disgrace.  Two blatantly blown calls in two straight games.  Yesterday the home plate ump ruled a foul tip on a ball that was clearly a strikeout and today they ruled Juan Lagares out of the baseline because he was trying to get out of the way of Nolan Arenado who was not even attempting to tag Lagares.

And each time the umps just rolled their eyes and acted like their shit doesn't stink as Collins argued with them.  And neither time did they call a conference to at least talk it over.  What a joke.

Odor don't take no shit

Watching all those guys in blue and red jerseys throwing haymakers at each other it felt like I was watching one of those Raw eps where they had the Draft.

Out of the base line is about 95% judgment, so calling a conference would just be for show. It's on the umpire that made the call, because the odds are very strong that the other three were focusing on other parts of the play. #umpiresstickingupforumpires

Well that's another problem I have with it.  The umpire who was closest to the play (the third base umpire) not only didn't make the call, he made a safe signal when Lagares got to third base.  How is the guy who is closest to the play and who has the clearest line of vision to the play getting overruled?  #bringontherobots
